For Nikki Donovan, being a teenager can be hell. Literally.

Nikki didn't thinks her life could get any more complicated after she moved to the dreary town of Erin Heights - fitting in at a new school while navigating the social scene was stressful enough. But when her sixteenth birthday rolls around, she's visited by a mysterious stranger, Michael, who tells her that her lo

EDIT: Okay, My review sounds sort of cruel. It simply was not my cup of tea. My friend on the other hand loved it. Everyone has differing opinions.
Back to my cruel review.

Why did I ever read this book? I mean the title reveals it all, including: “Don’t read me. I'm shit." I really should stop picking books that Richelle Mead quotes on the front cover and states something along the lines of: “Demons , magic and sexy guys. This is a series I definitely wa
Picked it up at the place that replaced borders for $5 and was reading it while I waited for Reel Steel to start (amazing by the way). And this book sure jumped right into the plot. Too bad I lost the book in my bedroom. How is that possible? You are probably asking, well I am the one person that can make it possible. So when I find it, I'll review and rate it properly.

I thought it sounded interesting in Publisher's Weekly, but I after seeing the cover I had SERIOUS doubts. These doubts transformed into disparaging contempt after two chapters.
Yup, that's all it took.
See, the main character is all, 'oooh i'm POPULAR and the 'cutest boy in school' kissed me and there's another hot guy following me telling me I'm a demon princess even though I look like a normal POPULAR human teenager so I'm going to not believe him' and then after a while you know she'll see tha

So,when I picked this book I thought it would be awesome. Is sounded a lot like Demon Envy by Erin Lynn, which I loved. But,man the book started somewhat fine and went downhill from there.
Every single character was stupidly naive and shallow and with no depth whatsoever.I mean even the supposed evil bitch was stupid enough to be manipulated.
The two main characters and their love story were very annoying,I mean they literally went from crazy stalker and person being stalked, to forbidden love and sa

Demon Princess had a very fresh take on demons. I liked that they weren't necessarily bad or evil like most books. The world-building was also top notch, and I hope we'll get to see more of it, like the faery realm, in the next book. Rowen also did a very good job weaving the supernatural adventure into Nikki's every day life that included school and dances.

Pace: 3.5 Stars

Woooow! It's far better than I first anticipated!
I was so feeling in love with this book, hard.
Let's jump onto the next book! :D

Nikki is a fun and interesting character while Michael is charming. She also has a cool best friend, Melinda. But what nuked me the most which almost made me over hysteric in the last pages was her meeting with Rhys! He is the same age as Nikki and already has a responsibility as a king in the Faery Realm. But their meeting was downright hilarious yet thrilling at the s

All Nikki Donovan wants to do after her mother’s fourth marriage and subsequent move is fit into her new home. So, it’s almost too good to be true when she becomes best friends with Melinda, the most popular girl in school. Now, Nikki is the worthiest member of Melinda’s “Royal Party” entourage and can benefit from the perks of being popular, particularly in the form of hot boyfriends. But all that social perfection is threatened when she finds out that she is a half-human, half-demon princess, ...more

The concept is interesting if not original. A princess, wow, every girl (okay, in the interests of...well, everyone) almost every girl dreams about being a princess though I'm pretty sure none (okay, fine, almost none) of them dream about having "Demon" attached to the princess tag. Nikki didn't either. In fact, as far as she was concerned, her father was a player who played her mother and left her with nothing except a baby and some pretty awesome memories she is unable to forget in spite of he ...more

Leuk en af en toe grappig boek. Duidelijk voor wat jonger publiek maar af en toe vind ik het heerlijk om even makkelijk weg te lezen bij zoiets. Verhaal is goed en ga zeker deel 2 van deze serie lezen.

This book lagged a bit in the middle but then Nikki and Michael go back to the underworld and it picked up again.
The love story is a bit of a bore but otherwise it's a good story.

For the longest time I was rather unsure about books with supernatural elements, I've only dipped my toes in from time to time. But I'm pretty sure I'm becoming a real fan finally. I think Demon Princess along with a few other books have convinced me it might be time to drop that fear of mine. Seriously, I never thought I would love reading about demons so much!

If I'm being honest, I kind of feared that Nikki might come off as a ditz and sort of annoy me, but she was nothing like that! She was a

I just finished this book and could NOT STOP SMILING!!! It just made me so happy inside!! This book was happy, sarcastic, suspenseful, and so much else!! It made me want to read the next one IMMEDIATELY!! I cannot wait till June to read the next one, but anyways, this book follows recently-turned sixteen Nikki Donovan. She thinks she just this ordinary teenager until the surprisingly sexy Michael turns up telling her that not only is her father alive and wants to see her, but is also a demon. A ...more

When I got this book, admittedly, I was excited to read it. I'd read the synopsis on Goodreads, and I was thinking how great of a book it was going to be. And, unsurprisingly, it was.
The aspect of the story wasn't anything new--I've read tons of demon-related books this past year, but I have to say that this was one that I rank in the 'best' list. I liked Nikki; she was funny, and she thought logically. She wasn't irrational (cough; cough, Bella Swan), and her feeling were relatable and believa

It was a cute story with a good premise, but that's really about it.

Nikki is a regular 16 year old girl who has to pick up and move whenever her mom remarries (She's on hubby #4 now). After stalking her for a couple days, a Shadow named Michael presents himself to her & spills that she is actually a Demon Princess, her father being the Demon King, & that she needs to come back to Shadowland with him in order to meet her father. Even though she was creeped out with him for two days, she

The cover should have tipped me off. Way too cutesy.
This book was definitely a quick, light read and nothing more. The pace was set at lightening speed; one second the slightly-creepy-yet-incredibly-hot boy is staring at the perfectly-normal-yet-maybe-not girl, and the next they're in another dimension, complete with big scary castles and horned monsters. The whole demon premise could have been taken to a dark place, but instead it's basically the Disney version of the Underworld.

16-year-old Nikki has a pretty good life. She's friends with the most popular girl in school, has guys flocking around her, and is well liked by most students.

Things take an interesting turn in her life, however, when on her 16th birthday a guy named Michael shows up and tells her that her long-lost father is the Demon King of the Shadowlands.

She thinks the guy is a wacko until mysterious people show up calling her "princess" and trying to kill her. When sh

A demon Princess? This is something we don't hear of everyday. So when a mysterious, but cute, guys begins following Nikki around every where, she gets annoyed. So when she confronts him, she's hoping for an "I'm sorry." Not a "You're the Demon Princess and you're in danger." Thus begins this in thrilling tale of Nikki and her new found news, not to mention her powers.

I am happy to report that I enjoyed this novel a lot. It's a great beginning to a series I think many will enjoy reading. It be

Cute new YA series I picked up based on the blurb by Richelle Mead. It features Nikki, a teenage girl at a new school, who finds out a few days after her 16th birthday that her estranged father is a demon (actually, KING of the demons of Shadowland) and that she is a Princess and a Darkling, or half-human, half-demon. Oh, and she might become Queen of the Shadowland if things go badly - which would mean she'd be trapped there forever in the castle. There's also a super cute emissary from the Sha ...more

This was a really fun story to read. And, i am also glad that i have the next book ready to read next on my shelf.

I loved the characters and the love triangle. I'm very happy with the ending although, the little chat between Nikki and Mel was very intriguing and left me wanting to know more about the possibility of her being a demon hunter??? I especially loved Mel's character and hope that she is in the sequel some more.

Overall great book, quick read, and great characters.

Wow. What a ride.

I'm so glad I won this title from the first reads program - it was just what I needed. It seems like with all of the vampire books out there (and now angels and werewolves), no one was really examining the demon aspect of fiction. But this book is a refreshing oasis in a desert of badly written young adult mythological fiction.

I really can't wait until the next book comes out next spring!

quick synopsis in case you don't wanna read the whole review:
The story is mildly enjoyable if you can get past the terrible writing style and a totally bland narrator/protagonist. The worldbuilding has some interesting ideas - demons, unicorns, faeries, dragons, Shadows, etc - but pretty poor execution. Overall, it's inconsistent in tone and pacing and lacking in any sophisticated themes or ideas. If I had to pick out the themes, it would be resistance against authority, old-fashioned hierarchie
