Will Jamie and Grant's new and exciting love for each other be able to withstand Donnie's violent acts of jealousy? Jamie Taylor meets Grant Stevens through his work as a tech at a physical rehabilitation facility. Sparks ensue and Grant comes out of the closet for Jamie. Things would be just great if it wasn't for the fact that Jamie has this stalker problem. The administrator's son, Donnie, has a thing for Jamie and doesn't like Grant showing up and horning in on what he considers his territory. Donnie makes his feelings known in a variety of violent ways. He preys upon everyone and everything that Jamie loves. Soon, that includes Grant. It's hard to get a relationship started in good times, but with Donnie creating mayhem around every corner, it is even more of a challenge. But, Donnie's hate is not nearly as strong as Jamie and Grant's love. Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of m/m intimacy and sex.
This is either my second or third book I have read that was written by this author. It is my favorite one I have read by him (her?) so far. One thing I really like about this author writings, is the way the heroes are portrayed. They are always good people that are looking to whatever they can to help others. In some ways, Miles’ heroes are too good to be true, but I still like them immensely.
Jamie Taylor works hard to help others. As a tech for a local rehabilitation center, he is working his way through college to become a professional physical therapist. He is well loved by the patients he cares for. He is a man who is very kind and thoughtful to others, and he has a very sweet soul. Because of the personable way he treats others, people have a tendency to gravitate toward him.
When Jamie is asked to calm down a new resident at the center, he doesn’t think twice about doing what he can to help the new patient feel more at ease. The moment he lays eyes on Grant Stevens, he feels an electric current run through him. There is something about Grant that calls to Jamie’s heart and soul and he isn’t sure what to do about that.
Grant was involved in a horrible car accident. As a high school football coach, he was popular with the students, but has often been called a loner. He has lived his life in and out of foster care, and has had to fight for everything that he has gotten in his life. He hasn’t ever really been attracted to anyone before, so he considered himself asexual, until he met Jamie. Jamie’s sweetness and honest concern for his well being catches Grant off guard. Soon they become friends, and for once in Grant’s life he is starting to count on someone beside himself.
As Jamie and Grant’s relationship develops, they are terrorized by a co-worker that is jealous of the friendship that Jamie and Grant have. and feelings and affection that is growing between them. The closer Jamie and Grant‘s relationship develops, the stalkers behavior turns more violent. But, instead of allowing a stalker to dictate their relationship, Jamie and Grant become extremely close, and fall deeply in love with one another. Soon, the stalker becomes more desperate and everyone Jamie hold dear to him is in danger.
I really loved this book. There were a few things that didn’t add up to me. The police’s attitude about the stalker and the time it took for them to catch the man drove me crazy. But, Jamie and Grant’s relationship was truly very well developed and well paced. Jamie is so patient with Grant. Grant has many insecurities because of his past, and Jamie was so patient and wonderful with him. Jamie and Grant are people I would be proud to consider as friends. They are both so likeable, sexy and well …NICE. *gasp*
The sexual chemistry between them was pretty intense also. Grant is very inexperienced sexually, and Jamie is more that willing to guide him in the right direction. I loved Jamie and Grant. It really was a very loving erotic romance.
Jamie Taylor is a caretaker. Loved by all of the patients at the facility he works at, he gives himself willingly and unselfishly to those in his life and the patients he works with.
When Jamie is asked to help a new patient adjust to his current circumstances living at the rehabilitation center, Jamie naturally agrees. The minute he and the new patient Grant lay eyes on one another, they feel an immediate affinity for one another.
Grant easily learns to trust and rely on Jamie and Jamie becomes more smitten with Grant as they spend time together. Before long, they must fight outside forces that put both of their lives in danger, but both men know that this is a once in a lifetime love. A love that is worth fighting for.
We both loved this book. Not only does Jamie and Grant fall in love, but the friendship and respect they have for one another is beautiful. We are looking forward to reading much more by this author. Thank to our friends here that have highly recommended it to us.
Jamie Taylor – The guy with the personality to match the lovely face he has. Works at what he loves and he loves everyone he works with – and they love him right back – some more than others.
Grant Stevens – Feeling low and dishearten by the turn his life has taken, he is alone and feeling it – when a miracle happen, he’s not even sure what was happening – he only knows he has to hold on and never let go.
The Plot
Jamie Taylor works as a tech in a rehabilitation facility and not only does he loves his job, but the patient and staff absolutely adores Jamie. Jamie has a special affinity to the people who come into the centre broken and in need of that bit of positivity to get them through their day.
With his ever present optimism in place he meets one of the newest arrivals at the centre, who was not taking the changes in his life all that well. Jamie being Jamie – push and prod but always remembering that Grant Stevens is a man with pride and this is more or less a bump in the road for him – he just needs to get with the program and get back on his feet.
During Grants stay at the facility Grant develops a friendship with Jamie that somehow feels like more. When Jamie reciprocates his feelings, he is a happy man.
Grant is carting around his own set of baggage and meeting Jamie feels like the best thing to have happened to him in a long time. Not all is well in their world however, as someone is out to not only get Jamie but to hurt as many people as they can in the process.
Surprise Element
The book starts off easy enough but i have to admit the pace surprise me alot – it was so well pace, so full on that by about a third in that i almost miss some of the major details of the book. I love a book that just holds you and shake you up before the end.
Predictability
Yes there was some predictability, cute, nice guy meets lonely broken or broken hearted man with some sort of evil lurking in the mist – with me so far. Ms. Milles steps right in then and she gives it her all – the fine print are so distinct, they are accurate and she deals with a whole slew of issues that really makes this book a wonderful read.
Smut/Ick Factor
As always not enough, the good thing about the smut in this is that it was a built up process – there was too much going on and the guys had a level of integrity to them that i am very pleased that they dealt with other issues before they got their smut on.
The scenes themselves are hot and too few in my opinion – these two have a genuine chemistry between them
Positive
LOVE, JAMIE is a thought provoking book that shows not only the strength of Ms. Miles writing but also the intensity of her imagination.
Jamie is a lovable character wanting only the best for the patient he interacts with daily, some he wraps up in cotton wool while others he is aware enough to push just that little harder. When he meets Grant, it is an eye-opening experience for him and he makes the most of it and his upfront and honesty about his feelings from the moment he becomes aware of what is happening between them is refreshing.
Grant feels lost, not only is he flat on his back but he is alone. Jamie gives him that stability that he was desperately in need of and it is a process that was nicely written.
This was really a short read – but the pace was so perfect – slow at the beginning and then it picks up and not in a madding rush either – but at a steady pace that definately kept me interested.
The mystery was not bad either – the bad guy was so creepy and I thought the description of him was well done as well – you really had to hate him.
The support characters were lively and loveable – there was a cross section of people that really made the difference to this book and also shows the author strength in mixing and matching characters together to get the perfect blend.
The issues dealt with in this book are some of the usual (loneliness, fear, ugly undercurrent, privacy issues etc) – they are ugly and there are alot of destruction, but with the pace, the characters and the main focus being on the relationship, i really like how Ms. Miles worked it – lots of food for thought.
The highlight of the book for me was really the development of Grant’s character, his journey to finding himself was not only heartfelt but very emotional as well.
LOVE, JAMIE is a must read, new readers to AKM Miles works you will be pleasantly surprised. Readers following her work – this is another brilliant production from Ms. Miles.
Negative
The mystery was a little bit stilted in places, however as that was not the key focus of the book – it took nothing away from the growth of grant as a person and the development of their relationship.
Cover
I like a lot – big strapping guy with lots of body parts showing – what’s not to like..
I enjoyed the way Jamie and Grant's relationship developed. This book was more sweet and romantic than I thought it was going to be. Jamie is an unusual hero because he is such a nice man. He's someone I would be proud to take home to Mom. Loved it.
I love it when nice guys finish first. Jamie and Grant's relationship was amazing. Loved how they became friends, then lovers. The mutual respect and love for one another, made this book on of my all-time favorites.
Jamie Taylor is a hunky, handsome, all around nice guy who works at a physical rehab centre. He takes excellent care of his patients and minds his own business. When Grant Stevens checks into the facility, Jamie has dreams and fantasies, but would never compromise a patient or his position. But once Jamie finds out Grant wants him, too, watch out!
Love, Jamie was an enjoyable read with a great title (snicker) which called to me from the virtual bookshelf. AKM Miles has created vivid, likable characters, a dream dog who actually minds, and a villain so rotten the reader is rooting for him to get what he deserves. AKM does not disappoint. Pick up Love, Jamie for a heartwarming and spicy hot m/m read!
I did not like this book at all. Jamie was like that cousin or aunt that everyone has who over-talks everything and will not shut the hell up. The issue with D,the stalker and what eventually happens is so unrealistic. Not recommended.
I started reading this a few months ago so I just picked this back up. My memory is a little hazy on the beginning of the book but from what I do remember is was just about Jamie and Grant getting to know each other. I believe I put it down around the time that Donnie started to threaten Grant .
I liked the characters. Jamie and Grant were sweet to each other. They're very likable characters. Of course, who wouldn't like Jamie? He's sweet, kind, attractive, and charming. Grant is about the same and the two instantly have a connection because of that. I loved Brit, Jamie's dog, especially since his name was really Whistlebritches (I'm totally gonna name my dog that one day lol)
I liked the plot. The jealous son, Donnie, of the boss secretly liking Jamie and then when Jamie starts to show interest in another Donnie becomes the crazy, jealous stalker. The way that Donnie harassed Jamie and Grant kept me interested. And, let me just say, that I thought the sex scenes were written quite beautifully.
I felt that the book dragged a little at around a third of the way, which is why I put it down all those months ago. While I usually like a slow romance, I felt it was a little too slow and a bit wordy. I didn't start getting interested again until Donnie started harassing everyone. I was also left with a few questions. Hopefully, those questions will be answered in the sequel: Love, Grant.
All in all, a good story. AKM Miles fans will definitely like this one.
I've read other books from this author, so I really wanted to rate it with at least three stars. But in all honesty, I didn't like this book. It took me a whole year to finish it, and I'm not that slow when it comes to reading. I must have picked it up 15 times and never could read more than a few pages. The story started good, and up to a point where it became obvious Donnie is going to be a problem I was intrigued by the story. But once I realized exactly how it's going to go, I lost all interest. It bored me, and I couldn't get into the characters, the plot or the writing for that matter. I'm sorry to say, that the only one I really liked was the dog, and wouldn't have minded reading more about him. The rest, it really did nothing for me and I barely managed to finish it.
But as I always say, this is just my opinion and it doesn't mean you won't love it.
Oh dear oh dear where was the spell checker on page 58? 'Swave amd deboner" the latter had me worrying about their health, and then it twigged. - Suave and Debonair!!!!!!
And now that is the end of all the AKM Miles I know about. Sigh. I am not sure if I know ANYONE in real life who is as nice as her characters are, but I sure wish i did.
I adored Jamie and Grant's relationship. I thought the steady buildup they had from friends to lovers was perfectly paced and I loved every moment they had together.
Jamie is a technician working in a rehab facility while studying to become a physical therapist. When a new patient, Grant, shows up and sparks Jamie's interest, he truly believes this could be the start of something - especially when Grant comes out and makes it know the attraction is mutual. But when jealous Donnie, the son of Jamie's boss, makes it clear he thinks Jamie belongs to him, will they be able to weather the storm?
While I could definitely see the sweetness intended in the relationship here, I had a few problems with this story. First, the ethical issue of Jamie coming onto a patient and the inviting him to come live in his house is totally glossed over - even the facility's administrator doesn't even bat an eye. Second, the speed with which the relationship grows is unrealistically fast - even for a romance, in my opinion. Third, the way things progress with Donnie comes across as rather unrealistic, too. And, finally, the dialogue in the sex scenes is completely over-the-top. I appreciated the intent of the story, but it just didn't work for me.
I liked it, but I'm not sure it's gonna be one of the go-to books when I'm in a certain mood and want to read a certain kind of book. I really liked Jamie and Grant, Jamie's dog Brit, and Miss Wilhelmina. Obviously didn't like Stalker-Boy Donnie. And I don't particularly have anything against Insta-Love, but somehow, the pace was a bit fast for me. This came in at 146 pages on my eReader, and I think it coul have been half again as long and worked much better for me. I think I would have liked to see more of these two guys exploring the beginning stages of their relationship once Grant was out of the rehab facility; that seemed a bit rushed to me. Anyway, still a good book, and IIRC, the sequel works out a bit of the pacing issue for me (but I'm gonna re-read anyway just to be sure. :))
When I started reading this book I wasn't in a very good mood, but not that far into it I found myself smiling. I enjoyed this book from start to finish. I am also a HUGE animal lover so I admit that my fave' parts were with Brit. I liked him enough to want to name my next dog that Lol. You will see what I mean once you read the book. I would recommend this book for someone who wants a good smile, some laughs, and some suspense (crazy stalker dude) thrown into the mix. Oh and keep in mind that there are a few time jumps. its not months and months down the road or anything. True it feels like "insta-love", but hey its a book. Just get swept up into the story and enjoy it. :)
I struggled to finish this. I am sorry, I hate to say that, but it's true. I ended up skipping a lot of the sex and kind of just rushing to the end to find out what happens.
Would you like some wine to go with that cheese? Because , seriously, this was CHEESY! Syrupy. OH MY GOD, was it syrupy.
Almost from the minute Grant was introduced, I knew it was going to be a wordy declaration of love book. It made me laugh at times, because do people really talk like that...every other time they open their mouths?
Okay, I am done. It was just too cheesy for me and I love me some cheese. Gouda anyone?
A long paperback that I read one Saturday during the first weekend of September 2009. I mistook the love interest at first, but when he finally arrived- man oh man! Rehabilitation center / PT tech /going to school to become a physical therapist / large blond / little old ladies' favorite / owner's son / obsessive crush /stalker / escalating violence / high school basketball coach / handsome / loner / foster homes / yellow Labrador retriever / very bad car crash / therapy dog / first time / mutual attraction / awakening / tenderness / finding one's way / slow buildup /sweet
Not what I expected from AKM Miles whose work I normally really like. Not a bad book, but weirdly boring and stilted. A lot of time seems to pass with nothing happening. The general 'everyday-ness' of the MC's lives is repeatedly interrupted by a stalker who is apparently a brain surgeon given his capacity to hide from law-enforcement for weeks at a time while striking at will. In one of the stranger bits of 'lazy-author-itis', we get one paragraph from the stalker's POV - and that's it. Very odd. The story is sweet, but the book is a little blah.
Jamie works as a tech for a physical rehabilitation facility. In comes grant who has had an accident and need lost of help getting back to form. They form an friendship and for grant is his first time they take their time Also there is Donnie which becomes sort of a nightmare for the couple. If anyone has read a.k.m miles they know what they in for abit of a crime with less ansgt and just sweet lovely. enjoy
This is my first book by a AKM Miles, so after reading some of the great reviews and looking at the blurb I was expecting a good read. Boy was I wrong! While I liked Jamie and Grant, I couldn't get past the bad writing and trite dialogue. In the end, even though it's not a long novel, I had to force myself to finish it.
Love Jamie is sweet and warm. The characters are developed and revealed to the reader and to each other by facing a serious problem together. Miles gets the details right from Jamie's workplace and duties to details of law enforcement operation. I highly recommend it.
this was a hard read for me, I just did not enjoy it as much as the preface made it sound as if I would, I have the next one Love Grant, hoping it will be better
