There are many ways parents and caregivers can help children thrive in their earliest years of life. Johnson shares his own stories about the amazing ways infants and toddlers learn. He offers valuable information on how to spend quality time with young children by building strong emotional environments, nurturing meaningful relationships, and promoting child-centered, age-appropriate learning.

Cannot recommend more! This might be the best comprehensive book on interaction with infants and toddlers, this is a great way to develop and rediscover your teaching philosophy and goals. This book is not very long and it doesn’t have everything I would like to see added but it does a very good job of giving an overview of what is really important and why.

Full disclosure...I did not finish the book. It started off so cute, it just didn't really say anything. I felt like the author was just filling the pages. He recommends being zen about parenting, which is nice but he didn't really help me figure out how to achieve that. He also insulted me for not dressing my baby in a onesie and sweats every day. (I'm sorry... they make baby clothes that are both adorable and practical, and I love it!) I guess its just not my style of parenting/caregiving book. I prefer a more research based, advice giving practical type of book.

I didn't know whether I wanted to give this book 2 or 3 stars. It was "ok" overall, but I did like parts of it too. If you read this book, he does put down toys..."learning toys" especially as well as infant swings, playmats and bouncer chairs. I didn't agree with any of that. I do agree with babies being overstimulated but don't think they things he mentioned are "bad."
