0930193059 is a dust-jacketed hardcover

The three-tiered "Sappo" runs across the top of these 15" pages. He and his wife take on O.G. Wotasnozzle as a boarder only ten pages in and he's with them throughout the entirety of this run. I found it interesting that Sappo sleeps in the same room as his tenant with beds right next to each other instead of sharing a room with his wife!

Segar included character-populated "Play money" 23 pages in and then page 76 began "Thimble Theatre Movies" where you could cut two "film strips" and tape them together to then pull up through the three-tier-tall illustration where the head of a character was.

As for "Thimble Theatre"- Wimpy gets to be so unbearable! I may come back to get into more detail besides that later...

I probably bought this in the early 1990s and would have read it several times though I did not record when. This volume collects the Popeye strips and the Sappo strips (they were originally printed on the same page in the Sunday newspapers) from 1932 to 1934. J Wellington Wimpy and Rough-House play a big part in the Popeye stories and by the end of this collection Popeye has gone to sea in an adventure featuring the Sea Hag and Alice the Goon. This is laugh out loud funny.
