Simon le lapin

I Don't Want to Go To School!

Rate this book
A book to ease those first-day jitters! "No way!" is Simon's mantra when his parents tell him that tomorrow is his first day of school. After he tries to convince himself that he is not scared, Simon calls for help from Mom and Dad, who assure him that he will learn a lot, meet new friends, and have a great day at school. And they may just be right! After a day of drawing, playing, eating, resting, and making music, Mom tells Simon that it's time to go home. His answer? "No way!" Author-illustrator Stephanie Blake has created a lovable character in Simon the Super Rabbit, whose cautious approach to something new will feel familiar for parents and children alike.

This little rabbit behaves just like my son, said all the same lines. He found it very amusing and loved this book. Bold colours and super hero outfit all attractive to the little kids. Since it was translated from French, I think some of the expressions could have been better in English. The version I read to my son is a Chinese one, and the little one just repeats ‘I don’t want to go to school’, instead of saying ‘No way!’. How annoying would it be if your kid says ‘Not way!’ to you all the time?

I think this book is an adorable read for the first day. I rated this book a 4, only because I think it is more appropriate for maybe kindergarten. This read shows Simon nervous for his first day of school. He was feeling first day jitters. This book highlights how even though you are scared for your first day of school, you are going to have so much fun and not want to go home afterwards. Super cute for lower lower elementary!

Simon the rabbit is afraid to go to school. But with support from his parents, and after a positive first day, he doesn't want to go home.
Simple, short, and a good book for preschool and Kindergarten at the beginning of the school year. Many students in the target audience will be able to read Simon's repeated "No way!"

Edad recomendada: 2 a 5 años

I Don’t Want to Go to School! Is the perfect book to read with one of your little ones who is not quite sure about the whole going to school thing. Starting school is a big step in a little person’s life, and by reading this book, it will ease their worries of going to school, and by the end of the book they will be super excited to start school, and to make new friends! I would even use this book on the first day of school as a teacher. It is a good icebreaker to read to your class because you may still even have some students who still are not comfortable with the whole idea of school. It is short, sweet, and super easy to follow!

Rabbit has typical first day jitters and there's "no way" he's going to go to school. Until school is so much fun that there's "no way" he's going home.

A cute book to add prepare a little one for his/her first school experience. I wasn't overwhelmed by the illustrations, but the superhero style character would appeal to both boys and girls.

I really liked this book. I have a few younger brothers and sisters who are just at this age and i really wanna show them this book. I see us acting like this and when they get home they had such a fun time they cant wait to go back. they just have to get over that initial fear and they will be just fine.

Mixed feelings about this one. While it's a fun story about back to school jitters with great illustrations, that my son LOVED, I can't rate it higher due to the "No way" answer Rabbit constantly gives. As a parent who is trying to teach my four year old, that we don't tell Mommy and Daddy "No" when we ask you to something, this is a little counterproductive.

In this vivid and bright book, there is NO WAY Simon is going to his first day of school. Even though the text seems a little forced and awkward, it is a cute book for someone who is just starting their first day of school...reading it might help get rid of those first day jitters!

Rabbit is nervous about his first day of school and doesn't want to go. He overcomes his worries and enjoys his first day of school to the point that he doesn't want to go home.

I didn't care too much for this book or illustrations.

I definitely think I would have a child just beginning school read this book. Every child most likely has jitters so I think this would be great for them to read. I think the pictures are pretty good as well.

This is a fun read-aloud! Especially when the students pick up the rhythm of the story and start to read-along: No Way!
