Only one bed Cinnamon roll MMC Vermont in the fall A cozy train ride Too many coffees A small-town bookstore "Good girl"
Pumpkin Spice and Pour-Overs is the first book in the series, Small-Town Romance Shorts by Elise Kennedy. This is a super short, sexy, sweet, fall themed novella by a new to me author. I just finished a super long, super intense book so this was the perfect break I needed before I start something else.
Becca Habar is twenty seven years old. She splurged and bought herself a ticket to what she thought was a private cabin on the train she was taking to Benning Falls, Vermont. She wanted to enjoy the fall leaves and beautiful scenery on her way to a job interview for her dream job. To manage a book store in a beautiful town she had visited many times. She is well acquainted with the perfect little book store and living and working in this gorgeous town would be everything to her.
Only, Becca realizes her train cabin isn’t private at all. Seated inside is the sexiest man she’s ever seen, complete with elbow patches on his jacket. He even had a pocket square! She instantly begins thinking of him as her Hot Professor. Maybe sharing the cabin wouldn’t be so bad after all!
Becca soon learns that she isn’t the only person that wants the job. And she will have to stay in Benning Falls longer than she planned to complete the interview process. Of course, the only hotel in town only has one room available and her Hot Professor got the last room!
This was a cute read and filled with all the Autumn vibes I wanted. I could practically see the beautiful little town with all the colorful fall leaves. I felt like I wanted to be there walking down their little street and drinking a pumpkin spice latte! I really enjoyed this little story and am looking forward to the next one, Apple Cider and Subterfuge.
What to expect: - Small Town Romance - One Bed - Cinnamon Roll - Small Town Book Shop - Pumpkin Spice Lattes - 'Good Girl' - Rivals to Lovers- both after the same job - Single P.O.V
I have been seeing this book a number of times in reading groups and on Booktok. I finally got my self a copy. It is perfect for this time of year, a cosy little town romance. Two strangers- Becca and Leo, meet on a train, where they end up fighting for the same job in a bookshop. When Becca misses her train, Leo is at her rescue, with no where else to stay she ends up sharing Leo's room.
I loved the chemistry between the two, how they supported each other in a way to get the job. It is such a fun, quick read. I just wish I read while drinking a cup of pumpkin spice latte.
"One: you have nowhere to stay tonight except with me. Two: I want nothing more then to kiss that pouty mouth. I've thought about it all fucking day."
If you are looking for a quick, cozy, fall read. This is it! I loved everything about this novella. Their meet cute, competing for the same job, ONE BED! He learns her coffee order?! Swoon. I will definitely be reading the next one in this series!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Review. Thank you so much Elise Kennedy for the Spotify version of Pumpkin Spice and Pour- Overs: A Small Town Only One Bed Novella. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Guys, this novella is so so good! I’m usually not a small town contemporary romance fan, but I’m pretty sure I finished this novella in one day😍. If you’re looking for a fun fall read, you need to pick this up!
I was hooked from the meet-cute on the train to Vermont where Leo and Becca first noticed one another. Who wouldn’t instantly fall for a hot guy with professor vibes while admiring the fall foliage?🤷♀️ I loved Becca and Leo’s chemistry from the instant they locked eyes on each other and could not wait to see their story unfold.
Of course, things got very interesting once the characters discovered that they were interviewing for the same managerial position at Benning Books. I loved that Becca and Leo were able to playfully let the other know that they were both going all out for the job, while at the same time, supported each other through the interview process. It was a delicate line to walk, but Elise Kennedy did it beautifully.
One of my absolute favorite tropes, one bed, made an appearance in this novella 🛏️! It was so fun to watch Becca and cinnamon roll Leo navigate a hotel queen sized bed. I especially enjoyed learning that softhearted Leo has a spicy side 🔥🔥🔥!
This novella is jam packed with fall charm. If you’re looking for a super sweet, fun, and sexy fall read, please give Pumpkin Spice and Pour-Overs a try!

You should want to kiss the person you're applying for your dream job with?
Leo and Becca meet on a train. Soon, they find out they're going to the same interview. They want the same job, but what happens when they can't deny the chemistry they have?
I loved the characters and their chemistry, and I really like the ending. This is a cozy and sweet short read, and I highly recommend this book.
Thank you, BookSirens and Elise Kennedy, for the ARC.
3.5 stars rounded up, would have been a full 4-star review until the end. I just felt like it ended so abruptly and I wanted a little more to round out the story. My rating also stands the same for the spice level, 3.5/5 but would have been a 4.
This short story was the perfect for the fall time! I loved the descriptions of fall, it makes me want to visit a small town in Vermont and snuggle up with a good book. I liked how both of the characters were competing for the bookstore job, I wish the book showed more of a competitive environment though. However, the one bed trope and the pumpkin spice flavor definitely sold this book for me.
