I read this book about 15 years ago, maybe longer now that I think about it. Anyway, I loved it so much that I've spent the last few years looking for it again. Granted, I was a teenager when I first read this, but it's stuck with me all this time. It's one of those rare romance novels to actually grip my attention. I remember the sensory details about Venice to be particularly good. For someone who has a really hard time finding historical romances that are interesting and well-written, this one did it for me. I'm so shocked that I actually found this silly little book that I'm not sure what else to say other than I just ordered it from Amazon so I can read it again! :)

I first read this book some 20 yrs ago which was amazing cos I'm NOT a romance book reader. I'd seen it in a book store on a table and OCD me had to put it back where it belonged. I read the back cover & was intrigued. Ended up buying it and read it in 2 days. I was really drawn by the imagery of Venice and got caught up in the historical realities of the story. I lost the book during a move and couldn't remember the title or author, but the story stuck w/me all these years. During this past Christmas break we took a road trip and my eldest daughter & I were discussing books we'd been looking for. I posted my search on a Historical Romance forum and BOOM! So glad to have found this book again!!

This is one of my favourite books. Very emotional at times, I love the fact that Byron was included in this story. It works very well.
