Indecent Proposal

It wasn’t every day that I was shot at by a sniper. But this was now my life, being hunted by someone my (dead) ex-fiancé had crossed. They thought I had something he’d taken, and they weren’t going to stop until they had what they wanted.

I went to the best security company around, but what I ended up with was a bodyguard who was as hot and tempting as he was grumpy and annoyingly bossy. Vaughn reluctantly took me on as a client, despite my inability to pay, and put me in his own personal safehouse with a set of rules to follow.

But a few of those rules? Yeah, I broke them just because I knew it would provoke him. What I didn’t anticipate was the kind of punishment he decided to dole out . . . and it wasn’t long before we went from enemies, to lovers, and an indecent proposal was struck between us.

We both swore it was all temporary, but the closer Vaughn gets to finding out who is after me and why, I realize walking away from this man might be much harder than I’d ever imagined.

Ridiculously hot and sexy, a bit of suspense thrown in, an added sprinkling of exhibitionism/voyeurism, domination, spanking, “call me sir”, could’ve done without the “I’m going to break you” and “I decide when you orgasm” but the edging was HOT, an abundance of “good girl”, and overall even though the ending seemed a bit anticlimactic, it was good fun.

Indecent Proposal is a fantastic start to the Indecent series by Erika Wilde! Claire Turner and Vaughn Hughes meet when Claire needs to hire Vaughn’s company Elite Protection and Consulting when she has someone after her following her ex’s death. Vaughan is willing to let Claire leave without hearing her sob story, until a snippet attack while in is secure office. Since Claire can’t pay for Vaughn’s services, he decides to keep it off the books and takes her to his personal safe house.

The suspense elements in Indecent Proposal were done so very well. I was kept guessing who the sniper was that had taken a shot at Claire until the actual reveal. I love when an author can keep me guessing about the who done it so much. Ms. Wilde did an amazing job keeping me guessing, and was honestly a bit shocked at the answer.

The chemistry between Vaughn and Claire was apparent from the moment they laid eyes on each other. Let me just say their banter and digs just made for an even hotter story than I was expecting. Seriously majorly smoking hot times between Claire and Vaughn. Vaughn is a dominant, and Claire is super feisty and not a meek woman at all. She tests Vaughn at every single turn, and it was so sexy to see them find the right balance in their relationship. I loved that Vaughn really got Claire in a way no other man had understood before; not even her former fiancée.

Indecent Proposal was a fantastic story! I loved getting to know Vaughn and Claire and following their journey from strangers to lovers. I can’t wait to read the stories for Vaughn’s other two partners!

The suspicious death of her ex-fiance is only the beginning of Claire’s problems as she believes that her life is in jeopardy however law enforcement doesn’t agree. She decides that she needs to hire private security but just as she tries to convince Vaughn to help her she is threatened once again.

After retiring from the military Vaughn has opened a security firm with two friends. He is the only one available when Claire needs his help so he takes her to a safe house while he tries to uncover who is behind the threats and why but he never expected his biggest challenge would be his attraction to Claire.

Claire is feisty and fiery which not only infuriates Vaughn but makes him want her more. Hot chemistry and a little suspense as Claire and Vaughn find love when they least expect it and I am looking forward to his partner’s stories as well.

I loved this book!! The chemistry between Vaughn and Claire was great and the way the D/s relationship developed was very well written. Great plot and the ending was excellent.

I have two minor complaints. First, I didn't have a clear understanding of what Claire did for a living and how no one was concerned about her. What about her friends, family, coworkers? Second, I would have liked a little more interaction between Vaughn, Seth and Bryce. If they are partners and this is the start of the series, getting to know them would have been good.

Great first story in this series and I'm looking forward to seeing how it continues.

OH MY MY🥵🥵🥵 !!! This one made me so damn hot for real !! I really need a cold shower ASAP!!
Istg This was steamier than I expected .. it turned out everything i want in a smuty book; close proximity,Intelligent and non problematic FMC, Ex Military MMC 💪, the intrigue of one ongoing investigation, high stakes dangerous situation , the dirty talk , sub/dom ,edging😉 and brilliantly written sex scenes -which don't mention putting stuff here and there lol 😂

The spice level of this one really surprised me, i didn't expect this to be perfect .❤️❤️

Claire and Vaughn were fantastic together. The chemistry was scorching, and I believed that the physical attraction, which was where this book started out, was genuine, even though Vaughn was initially annoyed to have anything to do with her at all.

But, someone trying to kill you does tend to make you look for the best bodyguard you can find. Well, I don't have personal experience in this, but it certainly makes sense. And, it's the reason Claire ends up standing in the lobby of Vaughn's security firm...and then sparks fly.

The sex was hot, which one expects from this author as her books are definitely more geared to the erotic...but it was also emotional and was a strong way to show movement in the story.

I loved how Claire figured out who she was, and what made her tick, in the relationship with Vaughn. I also really liked how interested he was in finding out and allowing her to have her journey.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.

I liked the way this book started with a fast paced action scene. Vaughn and Claire's antagonistic behavior was even intriguing.

Then I felt like it slowed down some during the whole D/s conversations and activities. I kept thinking it was ridiculous for them to be so absorbed when someone was trying to kill
Claire. I wouldn't have bothered me as much if there was at least someone on Vaughn's team who had his back. It seemed like Vaughn was a one man army which took away from the story for me.

Things picked back up with the introduction of Ace. I wish there had been more appearances or interactions with her. Definitely made the story more interesting to me.

Then a couple of really unbelievable things happened that I can't detail without doing spoiler alerts, and the book pretty much ended.

I did like Vaughn and Claire. I did like the action and danger. The heat and steam was ok, but didn't seem to add much sexual tension. I would give this book 3.5 stars. I am interested in reading book 2. It often seems to me like the second book in a series ends up being both more engaging and enjoyable.

A*R*C for honest review with no compensation Received from BookSprout

Indecent Proposal is book 1 in the new series Indecent by Erika Wilde and then h my what a great start!

Claire Turner has been on the run for the last several weeks knowing someone is out to get her but she doesn’t know who… She goes to Elite Protection and Consulting (EPC) considered the best in the business and explains what is happening to her. Vaughn Hughes, part owner is skeptical about what she is telling him until I sniper fires a bullet through their front window.

Suspense, emotional, chemistry off the charts, danger and a whole lot more… Can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Received an ARC for an honest review.

Holy moly, this was steamy. Claire is on the run from someone who wants her dead and she seeks out Vaughn's business for help. Vaughn is gruff and tough and is the only one there and he takes her, ready to protect her, even if she is stubborn and just a bit bratty. What follows is a fun (read hot) adventure where Vaughn is just trying to keep her safe, but their attraction is playing a big role. Deciding not to fight it, they go all in, but Claire has to learn the rules...and Vaughn is a more than patient teacher.

We do get resolution for the story, but that's less important than the heat coming off the pages for these two. Erika is definitely leaning into the spicer stuff and I like it.

Holy moly! Erika Wilde has brought some fire-scorching hotness to the first book in this series. Indecent Proposal was filled with sizzling chemistry, great banter, and danger. Told in first person dual POV we see Vaughn and Claire go from enemies to lovers in an action-packed, dirty-sexy romance. My kindle was on fire after reading this story. I really enjoyed this romantic suspense and can't wait to read the next book in the series. I highly recommend Indecent Proposal especially if you love your romances off the charts hot.

Claire is being hunted by someone who thinks she has something from her dead ex-fiancé that they want. She's run out of money and has not options but to seek out help from the best security company around. Vaughn, owner of said security company, isn't buying her story. That is until a sniper tries to take her out in his company's lobby. Claire can't pay right now, but he's bored and can't leave her to face this on her own. So he sets her up in his private safehouse until he figures out what is going on.

While Claire finds Vaughn to be grumpy and bossy, she can't help but find him tempting. Vaughn is very attracted to Claire, even when she challenges his rules to keep her safe. Claire enjoys provoking him, and Vaughn enjoys coming up with her punishments. Their chemistry is too much to deny, so they agree to an indecent proposal.

This book was a great read. It had some very sexy scenes. My only complaint is that it ended too soon. I would have loved to read more.

Indecent for Sure . . .

** 2.5 Stars **
Claire Turner is in danger, afraid for her life after her ex-fiancé is killed and it looks like someone is now after her as well. They think she has something her ex had taken from them, but she doesn’t. She needs professional help quickly and limps into the best security company around. After a close call in their lobby when a sniper tried to kill her right there, Vaughn took her on as a client and hid her at his safehouse with some strict rules. Not liking rules, she broke them to watch his response, not expecting the unorthodox “punishment” he would attach to those broken rules. (This made this definitely not my kind of book!!!!)

When the story line turned to dom-sub themes, I didn’t feel comfortable continuing with that part of the story. Some of it was way over the top. There had been no warning about this intensity in the review copy or I would not have agreed to review it. The security aspect described was interesting and held the reader’s attention. But the rest of the activity was out of line, unprofessional, and too over-the-top for me to enjoy.

Indecent Proposal😈

Indecent Proposal is the first book in this new series by Erika and follows Claire and Vaughn’s story😍
Claire is convinced that someone is out to “get” her…she’s had weird things happening ever since her fiancé was found dead. She decides to take matters into her own hands and hire a private security firm ❣️What she gets is more than she bargained for😳

Vaughn is not convinced when Claire walks into the office that she needs their help, until bullets start flying…now he’s on the job with a client that can’t pay and he’s thinking of a way she could pay…🤔

A really great start to this series and I can’t wait to find out more about the guys Vaughn works with🤩 I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️

Ok so I have to admit I grabbed this review copy based on the premise (love me a good security specialist) and the author (she often teams up with one of my favs—Carly Phillips), but I truly wasn’t sure what to expect. Overall the story was HOT AS HELL, but there were a few points where I was a little hesitant to keep going and that might be too much for some readers. Now don’t get me wrong, the book is very well written (despite some grammar errors that I’m sure will be caught in editing) and the characters were interesting, but a few of the scenes were too much in my opinion. I can say I will definitely be reading the rest of the series if given a chance, but I’m hoping those types of scenes are limited in the next stories. Claire is on the run, terrified for her life since her ex-fiancé was killed and she has been stalked and now a sniper has attacked her. Vaughn was only supposed to be manning the office while his partners were off on other assignments, but when a woman is almost killed by a sniper in the lobby of his security offices there is no way he can back down. But soon they are entangled in a deadly mystery and while the danger heats up, the passion and pull between them becomes almost unbearable. Claire doesn’t much like Vaughn, but she is drawn to his dominance and the sexual heat he causes in her leads her to break his rules again and again. Vaugh can’t seem to resist the sassy rule breaker, determined to force her into line and make her understand that submitting to him would truly be the greatest experience of both their lives. But the danger is getting closer and unless Vaughn can figure out who is determined to kill Claire and keep her safe, they might never have a chance to move forward in their new intense and passionate relationship. Claire is the type of damsel in distress that usually irks the hell out of me, no lie, but I loved that once we got to know her more there was an obvious strength and intelligence to her that was not obvious in the beginning. Her resistance to giving in to Vaughn and the way she challenges him at every turn was entertaining and erotic, but they slowly began to feel more than just passion and seeing her accept that was interesting as well. Vaughn is a typical dominant alpha male, one that has finally met a woman that will give him the passionate challenge he needs in life, but at the same time he’s not sure he’s ready to settle down. I liked watching him as he came to terms with her sassiness and made his plans for corralling her and teaching her to accept her submissiveness. That said there were a few moments and phrases that hit me wrong or as just a little bit the wrong side of ok, but everyone has their threshold so it probably won’t bother all readers. I enjoyed the overall story arc, the developing relationship between Claire and Vaughn, and the unexpected moments of sweetness between them, but I would have loved to see some more depth as well if the story had been a little bit longer. I am looking forward to the next two stories, which I’m assuming with be Vaughn’s two partners as they fall in love, but I will definitely go into them with a bit of caution. If you are looking for an intensely sensual, crazy story of two people uncovering one another’s secrets as they fall in love, you will enjoy Indecent Proposal.

Claire and Vaughn’s amazing story in Indecent Proposal by Erika Wilde, was a wonderful start for this new Indecent series. There’s suspense, emotions, off the charts chemistry, danger and a whole lot of heat. Vaughn Hughes is a grumpy, gorgeous, former military, partner in his security company, Elite Protection and Consulting. He’s holding down the fort while both of his partners are out in the field, leaving him to deal with anything that comes up. Then Claire Turner comes through the doors telling him that someone is after her and she has no idea who it is, but knows it has to be something to do with her late ex-fiancée. At first Vaughn doesn’t believe Claire. But minutes later when a sniper’s bullet comes crashing through the window, Vaughn springs into action. Hiding Claire away in his personal safe house off the grid, he starts digging into Claire’s ex and what he could have gotten himself into. From the minute that met, there was real chemistry between Vaughn and Claire. The arguing between these two was electric, with sparks flying. In addition, being hidden away, but still at risk to the unknown, drew Vaughn and Claire together once they both let their guards down.

Ms. Wilde wrote an amazing, sizzling story; filled with off the chart sizzling chemistry, magnetic attraction, and intense situations that should not be missed. This story does deal with violence, filled with action, magnetic attraction and amazing chemistry, before Claire and Vaughn find a true, trusting, and loving relationship. I highly recommend Indecent Proposal to other readers and look forward to the next book in this series.

Tropes: bodyguard romance, enemies-to-lovers

Claire Turner never once imagined she'd be the target of a sniper. Her now dead ex-fiance crossed someone. They think he stole something they are determined to get back. She went to the best security company around. Vaughn Hughes opened his own security company after retiring from the military. Since no one else is available, he takes on Claire's case even though she can't pay. To her, he's incredibly hot, tempting, grumpy and too bossy. He has her stay in his personal safehouse with stern rules to go with it. Just to provoke him, Claire breaks some of those rules and is shocked by his form of punishment. Soon their status as enemies changes to lovers and an indecent proposal is made. Both agree this can only be temporary but the closer he gets to finding out who is after her, the more she doesn't know if she can leave him.

This story started off action packed and was very easy to stay engaged until the end. I easily related to both characters. They are both surprised by their instant chemistry and attraction to each other. I rarely found myself bored which will quickly have me not liking a book. I loved the character development and the suspense had me hanging on to the edge of my seat. Before I knew it the end was there. I still recommend you give this a try, especially if you love romantic suspense with a healthy dose of heat. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

This is book one in The Indecent series and it is Vaughn and Claire's story and what a great start to a new series. Vaughn is a partner in The Elite Protection and Consulting Firm with his two best friend's and while they were both on assignment he was taking care of the office which is something that he really didn't like doing when a woman came into the door and bullets started flying. Claire needed help as her fiance had been killed and someone was now trying to kill her but she doesn't know who or why so she went to Elite Protection to see if they could help her solve the problem but that didn't go down well until bullets started flying through the window and Vaughn got her to safety. When Vaughn and Claire met they were instantly attracted to each other and even though Vaughn was handsome he was also obnoxious, rude, had a attitude and didn't believe Claire until someone tried to kill her so he then took her to a safe place so that he could find out what was happening and who had put a hit on her. The characters and storyline pulled you in and kept your attention throughout along with strong chemistry between them that sizzles off the pages and had you turning the pages to see what would happen next. I really enjoyed reading this book and I can't wait to read the next one in this series and definitely recommend you read it and you will not be disappointed.

OMG!!! Why has it taken me so long to get back to reading an Erika Wilde book!!!! I fell head over heals with Vaughn. He is the alpha that I crave to read about being taken down by a fiery heroine!

So the beginning begins with a whirlwind. You head is spinning and you are instantly trying to figure out what is happening. A lot of drama and suspense from the get go. And then we are wrapped up in Vaughn trying to keep Claire safe. But the feelings are instant from the get go.

I loved this story - my only complaint was that there was more heat between Vaughn and Claire than there was of the suspense and finding out what the underlining issue was. Don’t get me wrong, I loved that these two were exploring their inner desires, I would of liked to have a tad more drama.

In the end, I did get what I needed as the story wrapped up. Vaughn and Claire had a long road ahead of them. I am excited we get another book in the future. I really enjoyed the side characters and curious where their story will take us.

Claire and Vaughn’s chemistry is white hot, combustible and decidedly unwelcome by both of them, at least at first. She definitely doesn’t want to be attracted to the arrogant, smug and irritating man who claims he can keep her safe. She doesn’t have any other choice, but to take his help with an unknown assailant stalking her since the suspicious death of her ex-fiancé. Vaughn certainly doesn’t want to be attracted to the disheveled but gorgeous woman who is now a client. He knows he had to keep his hands off of her unless he is actively doing his job of protecting. The job is intriguing, just like Claire, but he already knows everything about this job is going to turn his life sideways.

It doesn’t take long to figure out that his instincts are right. These two irritate each other to no end until they give into their attraction, strike a rather indecent, but very satisfying deal, and find they can’t keep their hands off each other. Suddenly, Vaughn realizes that keeping Claire safe is the most important thing in his world because he is going to claim her for his own. Their story is hot, sexy, funny and action-packed, all in all an enjoyable read.

This is the first book in a new series by Erika Wilde and it brings the heat. Vaughn Hughes is a grumpy, gorgeous, former military, partner in his security company. When the book opens, both of his partners are out in the field, leaving Vaughn to deal with anything that comes up. There was real chemistry between Vaughn and Claire from the first minute. The sparring between the two was electric. Not to mention being hidden away, but still vulnerable to the unknown, drew Vaughn and Claire together once they both let their guards down. This pairing is hot. It was everything I’ve come to expect from an Erika Wilde book and so much more. I can’t wait to meet Vaughn’s two partners and see what Erika has in store for them.

Scorching hot, fast paced, and don't blink or you might miss the assassin who is gunning for Claire. Claire has broken up with her fiance but he still calls her just minutes before his death which law enforcement has ruled a suicide but she is convinced it is anything but. When she goes on the run she is sure she is being followed and when she shows up to Vaughn's office a sniper takes aim while they are talking in the lobby and narrowly misses her. Even though she is virtually penniless, he cannot stand by and turn this beautiful woman back out to the wolves. He takes her to his personal safe house and gives her "rules" but Ms Sassy-pants sure does like to break them, especially when she finds out what the consequences are. She is tired of her vanilla life and Vaughn is certainly not vanilla. The only problem is, he is sure there is something in her ex's background because it is too squeaky clean but will he figure it out before it is too late.

This one was great and I cannot wait to find out what happens when the other partners get their own stories.

Claire is running for her life after she heard her fiancé being killed on the telephone. Now they are coming after her, but nobody believes her. So she runs to the best security company there is. Once she gets there, also Vaughn, an ex-military and one of the owners of the security firm, doesn’t quite believe her, until the glass from the front window shatters and the bullet just misses them.
From that moment, Vaughn takes his responsibility and will take her to safety, even though Claire can’t afford his help.
Once they get to his safe house, and Claire is left alone, she’s not willing to follow all of his rules, and stubborn as she is, she defies them. What will Vaugh do about that?

Vaughn is trying to let Claire see that she has a submissive side. At first, she does everything to go against him, but when she does that in the bedroom, he denies her. This was a very hot/steamy read, a dom/submissive story. A great book to start the new series.

I LOVED this book. The set up for this book was perfect. I already was intrigued just from the synopsis and troupes. But as soon as you start you are thrown into the story. Which works amazingly for this book as our character Claire is being hunted down by a sniper. Enter our other main character and love interest Vaughn who works for a security company that will ensure her safety.

The connection and tension between Claire and Vaughn added so much to this story and their romance. The banter was incredible. I absolutely was living for it. I love a good banter in books. Not to mention the spice! It was so good!

If you are looking for a good book with solid plot, great connection, and spice this is the book for you!

Claire's life hasn't been so great as of late, and now she's in the crosshairs of something dangerous due to her dead ex-fiancé so she needs some protection (the police didn't want to help) which is how she meets the grumpy Vaughn. See he & a couple of friends opened up a security company after the military which of course means bodyguard services. Vaughn ends up putting her in a personal safehouse with him, and despite the fact they love to antagonize each other, in the close proximity has the sparks flying as well so they come up with a temporary arrangement. I LOVE Erika Wilde's writing style as it's highly addictive, and sexy but she also gives us good suspense as well. I'm super excited about this series and since I don't want to give anything else away, I'm going to call it quits with HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDING TO ALL!

This is the first book I read by Erika and now I am a fan of her work. There were plethora of emotions tugged out of me as I was lost in this world. As they say you find love when you least expect it and that's what happens to Vaughn and Claire.

Claire hasn't expected her life to take such turns and she is trying. There chemistry is evident from the start. The only thing that was obvious was Vaughn and Claire wouldn't be able to stay away from each other for long. They understood each other on a baser level.

The suspense added to the charm of the story and made it even more interesting. Everything was unexpected which kept me even more interested in the plot. I am in love with the characters and the storyline. Can't wait for the next book in series.

It will have you giggling one moment and absolutely swooning the next. The story comes alive from the first page until the end, making this a fantastic read. The plot, the characters and the banter... everything was spot on….Everything about this book was absolutely perfect! This will definitely be in my top 5 reads this year. Needs to be at the top of your TBR list, no doubt about it. I just loved this book. Wish I could give more than the 5 stars a it totally deserves more. My absolute favourite read of 2023 so far!! Intrigue, danger and sizzling chemistry between Vaughn and Claire.

Her feisty and sassy attitude attracts Vaughn’s interest. He takes Claire to his personal safe house, a cabin up a mountainside in the woods. He gives her a list of instructions to keep her safe and she blatantly disregards several of them knowing he can see her bad behavior via the security cameras.

Claire tempts and taunts Vaughn every chance she gets to get a reaction from him. The story has an abundant sizzling moments between them before they actually consummate their attraction.

Vaughn works at chasing down why Claire’s life is in danger and why her former fiancé’s death was disguised as a suicide.

The suspenseful portion of the story was slightly campy compared to many romantic suspense books I’ve read, but it was entertaining. The sizzling connection between the characters is the focus on this story with a suspenseful backdrop.

Claire and Vaughn are thrown into a dangerous situation after Claire has a sniper try and shot her while in Vaughn's security business.

Claire finds herself in a precarious situation and does not know what to do, so she seeks out the best security team to help her out and finds herself with Vaughn.

Vaughn is known to not be a people person, he goes does his job and leaves. He leaves the people part to his business partners but they are both out on cases. He soon finds himself in the midst of dangerous situation with a woman he has an instant connection to. Number one rule in the business is do not have fraternize with the clients. However Claire makes him want to break all the rules!

Great start to a new series! I can't wait for the next one!

This a well written story with plenty of attraction and mystery. Claire has lost her fiancé under mysterious circumstances. She believes someone is after and the police do not believe she is in danger. Claire hires security to protect her. Vaughn is retired from the military and formed the security company. He is the one available and takes her to a safe house. He is determined to find out who is causing this grief. He just has to fight his attraction to the fiery Claire. You will be hooked from the start of the book.

Vaughn meets Claire on a day that is anything but her best! She's running for her life and needs someone to help keep her alive. Despite the way they meet, there's something about her that causes Vaughn to want to help. There's a rule about not getting involved with a client but that's a gray area here. The more he investigates and spends time with Claire the more attraction there is between them. Can they figure out who is after Claire and why before it's too late?
