Italy was supposed to be an uncomplicated trip with the girls.
But that was before a rainstorm, a washed-out road, and a forced overnight stay at a Sicilian vineyard. Before Gian DeLuca.
My already broken heart does not need an American marketing executive playing pool boy at Locanda del Mare for the summer. An arrogant commitment-phobe who wants to drink his way through Sicily. He was never the right man for the Eat Pray Love quest his sister sent him on, and I’m not right for him.
Besides, I’m here to sort out my future, not to get stuck in a tiny villa overnight with Gian and definitely not to help him add to his long list of Italian conquests.”

The meet-cute was unique, who wouldn't want to meet an attractive pool boy in Italy ? However, the relationship itself happened very quickly. One minute they were meeting each other, and the next, they were utterly enamored and wanted more. It's not bad, but I hoped there had been a gradual development between meeting each other in Italy and returning home. Gian is known to have commitment issues, and Mazzie is the complete opposite; therefore, their interactions sometimes contradict their character. The two instantly forged a connection and understood on a deeper level, yet the book's pacing was off. I wish Mazzie had stuck to her word and maintained a friendship with Giani before initiating something with him. The two were expecting more than they were willing to give. It was a cute story, but the relationship was not compelling because their personality and commitment levels changed overnight.

Despite the instant attraction, there will be heartfelt moments in the book. This book gives off the perfect summer vibes; realistically, anyone would want to be in a situation like this. Falling for someone who speaks Italian? Sign me up. This might be the book for you if you’re looking for a quick read to get out of a slump. It’s fast-paced, so if you’re not looking for a slow burn and want to get straight to the point, Giani and Mazzie are the ones that will win you over. This book was a clear case of “when you know, you know,” and it’s something special to read about.

Review:
After losing her father, Mazzie goes on a trip to an idyllic Italian villa with her three friends to have some fun and peace. There she meets Gian, who is spending the summer working in the villa. Mazzie wants to have a relationship, Gian doesn’t even want to hear about it. Even though wanting very different things they start to get closer and things get a little complicated.
But don’t worry, this is not an angsty story, it’s one you may want to read to have a nice time and imagine yourself in Italy on vacation meeting someone special or just enjoying the view.

Meet, Play, Love by Bella Michaels is an entertaining forced proximity/vacation romance featuring Mazzie and Gian, who are both in need of recharging and some soul-searching. While it is definitely an opposites attract situation at first with Gian being a committed playboy and Mazzie looking for a solid relationship, they are inexplicably drawn to each other when they meet at the resort in Italy. Can they overcome their insecurities and different perspectives on relationships in order to find common ground before it’s too late?
One of my favorite things about this book was the world building and the intricate details employed to describe the scenes in Italy, as well as the character interactions. This is only the second book I’ve read by this author, and I definitely want to go back and read more about Gian’s brothers. I do wish we would have seen more with Gian and Enzo together addressing that competitive dynamic Gian had created in his mind. I liked the way that Mazzie and Gian would support each other when discussing things that were emotional. Gian does the supportive boyfriend thing really well, but both of them needed lessons in communicating feelings. People cannot read minds!🤦🏼♀️ As for as the chemistry, the had that in spades, even during the slow burn period!🔥 The sparks were flying! Overall, it was a fun, low angst, spicy read with great characters.

When two people are at a crossroads in their life and they meet. . . in romantic Italy.
First off, I think a fan should come with the purchase of this book because meeting Gian will bring the temperature up in any room. Very handsome ladies man, sure of himself, suave, and only one weakness: Mazzie.
On a girls' getaway trip to Italy, Mazzie's reason for being there was to get away from life's hard knocks in Scotsdale, AZ. To say Gian captured her attention is an understatement. This is the type of man that kidnaps your attention and leaves you with lingering thoughts later on in the day.
These two meet in Italy, both happy to enjoy one another. . . until it becomes so much more. I was offered an ARC and wanted to post my thoughts on this story.
What a great story of Gian and Mazzie. Traveling to Italy on vacation and finding Gian is not what Mazzie had planned for her life but what an amazing adventure she found.
I loved this story full of amazing details of Sicily and amore. Another chapter in the life of the Deluca and Grado families brought to us by Bella Michaels. Nothing better than to get lost in the words that let is live another life with this book.
A beautiful trip to Italy, a life changing trip to Italy. Mazzie has had a lot of loss in her life lately, when her friend talks her into a trip of a lifetime…she takes the trip. While on vacation she meets Gian. Gian is handsome, charming and comes from a great family. But does Mazzie need a vacation fling or a happily ever after?! I really enjoyed Mazzie and Gian. They definitely had an instant connection and page turning chemistry. What I really Liked about them is how open and honest they were with each other and how supportive they were. Mazzie had some emotional baggage to unpack and her future to think about. Where Gian learned how to be more confident with his feelings, they did that for each other. This was a very entertaining and enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more books by this author.
I had a fun time with this but the writing was a bit clunky. Gian and Mazzie were super cute and I loved seeing him fall in love for the first time. I think it could be improved if the author stayed in the scenes more. I think it jumped to the next day sometimes when it should have stayed there if that makes sense.
Mazzie is a character who has experienced a recent loss and is in a transitional phase when she heads to Sicily with friends. There she meets the gorgeous Gian, a man with model good looks and an allergy to commitment. Even though she isn’t usually his type, he finds himself drawn to Mazzie. Their love story is fairly conventional, but in these winter days, I found the vision of beautiful Sicily irresistible. I gave an extra star for the location.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a beautiful book that I enjoyed very much. Mazzie and Gian were wonderful characters and I loved reading about them and their journey but I also loved the detailed descriptions of the scenes in Sicily. The details allowed me to envision the scenes as they were playing out. I have not read any of the other books in this series but I will definitely take the time to read them and get to know more about the DeLuca family. I had lots of fun with the characters and I found myself wanting to keep reading with every turn of the page. My first book by Bella Michaels but it most certainly will not be my last. Looking forward to getting to know the DeLuca brothers and reading about their journeys to love.
I received an arc copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This holiday/vacation romance kept me up all night as I was curious to know how things would unravel. I loved Bella's writing and the world she has created. The descriptions were so vivid that I could imagine every bit of the narrative without any effort.
Gian and Mazzie had me engrossed in there story from the first page. I was super excited as I wanted to know how they would get together as one was a commitment phobic and other has a lot going on. As they say, things happens when you least expect it.
I had heart eye's through the read. I loved the bond they shared and there chemistry was smoking hot. Though, it's a short read I enjoyed it. I cannot wait for the next book. Thanks to Bella for the advanced copy
Mazzie's come on vacation to escape her normal life. Then she meets gorgeous Gian, and she's wondering if a fling is in order. But could this be a fling turned more? Is she really up for the possibility of having her heart broken by this man who's obviously a playboy?
Gian's been around beautiful women all his life, but none have ever captured his interest the way Mazzie has. This commitment phobe may have just met his match, and now he has to decide what's more valuable - his playboy lifestyle or the possibility of the kind of love his family has been finding.
Gian and Mazzie practically lit up my Kindle with their chemistry. It was obvious from their first encounter that there was something in the offing there, they just had to take that leap and grab it with both hands. I always love reading as playboys are brought to their knees by love, and boy was Gian reformed by Mazzie, and I was cheering her on the whole way.
OMG… I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN!!!! Meet, Play, Love by Bella Michaels is the first in a new series however what I just loved about this book was not only the book cover (which is super sexy) but that she included characters from her Boys of Bridgewater series and Grado Valley Vineyards series. It’s always so nice to read about old friends in a new book. Meet, Play, Love is probably one of the most romantic books I have ever read and the fact that most of it takes place in Italy makes all the more romantic. Gian and Mazzie just sizzle and who does not love a hot Italian man with dark eyes and dark hair that looks like an Adonis? Now that is something we all like to read about. Let me tell you, you will not be disappointed in this book. The other thing I love about Bella’s books are that they are written in the character’s own perspective so you know what the other is thinking of in the same scene. Bella is one of the most talented writers of today and it is only a matter of time before she hit the New York Best Sellers List. Her writing and imagination are both amazing. I found this story easy to read, vivid descriptions, so well written, original and just a true joy to read. This story has a women who just lost everything including her father, a girls trip to Italy to take her mine off of her grief, a pool boy who looks like a God, not wanting a commitment, a flirt, not really her type, hoping to get a new and big client, not giving up, not wanting to leave, just liking her job but wanting more, resigning, going back to Italy, not knowing how they feel about each other, wanting her to make a life changing decision and falling in love. I am so very highly recommending you read this book. You will not be disappointed that you did!!!
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Gian and Mazzie will draw you in with their “will they or won’t they” dilemma, but Italy will keep you. Forever. Because I’m ready to book a trip now, just for the views and the sunsets and the chance to relax in a beautiful region of the world. And if that can overshadow Gian’s desire to finally be something more than temporary with a woman, Mazzie’s overwhelming urge to play it safe while trying not to fall, and their inability to resist the lure of each other, then you know you’ve got a beautifully set scene for their blossoming relationship!
While he’s sort of looking for a fling and she’s not looking for anything, these two manage to find a whole lot without trying. And I especially adore the true friendship when Mazzie’s traveling partner could have easily been nasty or caused serious drama. Instead, she proves to be a real friend and recognizes that she’s not the one in Gian’s head and possibly heart, and she encourages Mazzie to live and enjoy life a bit.
But it’s a vacation spot. They’re from opposite sides of America. And communication is lacking when it comes to the most important subject of all. Even with all of that against them, Gian and Mazzie manage to learn as they go. And fast. Because sometimes, the heart knows what it wants and the head needs to catch up. Other times, it’s just perfect in all ways and the future can be something great.
This is an excellent new series to take us back to a small town with big families, bigger personalities, and gigantic love to be had. I can’t wait to see what comes next.
Delightfully entertaining, this romance brings Gian and Mazzie together in an opposites attract relationship. Needing space to process the death of her father and the sale of his property, Mazzie has lost everything that represents stability and home to her. With her friends to accompany her, she finds herself in Locanda del Mare, where she is surrounded by incredible vistas, good food, and wine. The pool boy Gian is the cherry on the top, even though she has no intention of becoming one of his conquests. She is shocked, however, when Gian makes a beeline for her, ignoring her sexier and more alluring friend. Gian's summer job as a pool boy leaves plenty of time for him to work on his marketing plan and although he enjoys the company of women, his first priority is putting his business strategy into place. However, the cute little redhead attracts his attention, drawing him in. Suddenly the more available women in the resort have very little to offer him when confronted with the more discriminating Miss Mazzie Clark, and he finds himself having to work harder and be more genuine in his interaction with her, which makes him face up to his past and his commitment issues. On the other hand, Mazzie learns from Gian and when it comes to learning to live a little, he has all the answers. Despite the physical distance between them, love finds a way and this standalone novel comes to a delightful conclusion. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Having read Ms.Michaels's work before i've been wanting to pick up more of her books! As soon as i found out about this one, i knew i had to pick it up next! I started reading it and got right into this story. I so enjoyed it!
Mazzie and Gian's journey captured my attention right from the very get go! Mazzie has been dealing with a lot and girls trip to Italy may just be what she needs. It's there she meets Gian, the pool boy and their attraction is undeniable. The thing is though, Gian is not one for relationships and Mazzie is. Can their meeting lead to more than they ever could have ever imagined?
I really liked how quickly Mazzie and Gian pulled me in and the way they were brought into each other's lives. I was so in love with the Sicily setting. The chemistry between Mazzie and Gian was so great! I felt for Mazzie and related to her. Gian had me falling for him. I was so glad that i got to dig into both of their minds. I didn't know how they'd handle certain things in their lives and their feelings for one another which got me even more into their story.
Sometimes meeting someone can shake up your world in the best of ways and Gian and Mazzie's journey sure showed that.
With Meet, Play, Love, Ms.Michaels has created such a good read with feels! I am so looking forward to reading what she comes up with next!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Grey's Promotions / the author*
I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a romantic and fun story as both Gian and Mazzie meet while she is on vacation in Italy. It was a really fun story as we get to go along and see the sights along with Gian and Mazzie.
This is very much opposites attract type of story. Gian is very hot and super attractive, and he knows it. He is in Italy to help out his family and he plans to only be interested in casual flings, He has a solid job when he gets back home in New Jersey, but he has always felt competition with his older brother Enzo.
Mazzie has lost her family, her father has died, and she has sold his business and now has to decide what is next for her when she goes home to Arizona. She is in Italy with a bunch of friends trying to enjoy the sights when she meets Gian the attraction is very strong, and she has to decide if she is willing to take a chance on him.
I enjoyed getting to know both characters. They were awesome characters and I loved how honest they were with each other about their life, feelings and plans for the future. The biggest question that Mazzie has to decide is what she would do for love and you will have to read this book to find out.
Who wouldn't want to go on vacation to Italy, meet a gorgeous man, then have a fling with said gorgeous man? Honestly, the premise is just so light and romantic!
Gian is an admitted playboy who doesn’t want to settle down. But when he meets Mazzie while she's vacationing in Italy with her friends, he's struck by their connection and can't help but pursue her.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a feel-good, insta-love romance. But I felt it lacked a little depth. Everything between Mazzie and Gian just felt too easy, and the timing of everything happened so fast. I would have enjoyed a little more time where they tried to pretend it was just a fling, and more inner turmoil of denying their connection. I would have liked to see Mazzie play a little harder to get and really make Gian prove to her he was worth the risk.
Overall it was a sweet romance, a solid read but nothing spectacular. This is a good book to pick up if you want to escape or get out of a reading slump!
I received an advanced copy from Grey's Promotions of this e-book, but the review is my own.
An Italian summer dream with the very good looking pool boy that was only supposed to be for the night, but ended up wanting him for more. Mazzie meets Gian while on a girls trip in Sicily. While the committed relationship girl meets the no commitment & no strings attached guy, Gian finds himself wanting to give them a shot at a relationship.
I thought this was the perfect summer read (though it is still cold out). The descriptions of the beautiful country made me feel like I was there and increased my urge to just pack a bag and go. I liked how Gian reminded Mazzie to take risks and how life is too short. I related to Mazzie’s personality a lot; reserved with insecurities, how she’s the quiet and shy friend, but as her friends said “until you get to know her, she’s anything but.”
I enjoyed how fast paced this was. It was cute seeing Gian courting Mazzie. A bit insta-love? But I didn’t mind it.
To get her mind off the death of her father and the sale of his beloved bar, Mazzie's friends take her on a trip to Sicily. While there, they encounter another American who is there working as a pool boy. Gia has long been a player and commitment phobe. He comes from a family of big achievers and is feeling like he doesn't measure up to the rest of them. Something happens when Gia and Mazzie start interacting. Mazzie isn't sure that she can trust Gia and his actions because he is a major flirt, and she just knows that he will never be serious about his feelings. Gia is caught off guard by Mazzie and he may have to learn a new way of doing things. This was a fun book to read, and the secondary characters add a lot to the story. The scenic descriptions in the book will make you want to head to Sicily. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Such a sweet meet-cute with a touch of insta-love story!
I adored Mazzie, being a Arizona girl myself, I loved her and her friends being from Arizona! Getting some touch of home from books by surprise is something I love. But that wasn’t all I loved about Mazzie, she was such a sweet but strong character. Everything that has happened to her in her life and the love of her friends trying to help her out with this trip to Italy, made me smile.
Gian, Gian, Gian…what can I say about this pool boy. He had me worried there for a little bit in the beginning. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good cocky hero but his way of life had me thinking he wasn’t going to turn out nicely. But he took a turn for the better. He may have had some bumps in the road along the way but he eventually gets there.
Once again Bella Michaels wrote a very sweet, loving, funny and all together wonderful book. . . . . 4️⃣⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ ❤️❤️❤️❤️ 8/10 recommendation‼️
Mazzie is on a girls trip on Sicily, when she met the ‚pool-boy‘ Gian. Gian is helping out a family friend at her resort for the summer. Mazzie recently lost her das and is still in some kind of grief, hence the girls trip to think about something else. Not really the type for the player Gian, who’s not ready for commitment, but maybe Mazzie is the one for him? Personally I found it all a bit too fast. They met, the next thing you know he’s asking her to move across the country to live with him. Him, who was totally against anything relationship wise before. She was hesitant, which I really understood, because I didn’t get his reformed vibes either. It was a fun quick read. But like I said, it was a bit too fast for me how everything played out.
I kindly received an arc and voluntarily left a review
A girls trip unexpectedly turns into something quite special. Taking place in the romantic setting of Italy, which is beautifully described in detail by Bella Michaels. But also inspires the charming notions in this story between Gian and Mazzie. Gian and Mazzie are amazing together and are meant for one another, they randomly meet and hit it off, their chemistry is insane. They are like a gift from the universe to one another as they support and help eachother through so much emotional baggage. The personal journey they go on is life changing for them both, which makes you think that could it be fate that they were put in eachothers paths. This is a lovely read very romantic, emotional and steamy I really enjoyed reading it. I felt like I was in Italy with them, this story was a great escape to get lost in. Loved it 5 STARS.
I absolutely loved that the author took us to Italy in this book. This is Mazzie and Gian’s story and it is one you can feel as you read word for word. Mazzie and her friends are traveling for a girls trip to non other than the beautiful Italy. In this vacation she meets Gian. Now Gian is not looking for a relationship or anything resembling one. However when he meets Mazzie something about her just pulls him to her. Their chemistry was palpable and of the charts. I love that this author helps us feel like we are a part of the story and your actually friends with the characters you are reading on the pages of the book. I enjoyed this book so much and highly recommend. It was a fun a bit emotional but sweet romance you won’t want to miss.
First I must say, I don’t usually read contemporary romance but I must also say that Bella Michaels is extraordinary no matter what name she writes under! I’ve read everything she’s written (historical romance) under Cecelia Mecca and can say unequivocally that she’s amazing at her craft.
Meet, Play, Love Is a delightful, sizzling romance that takes place during a girl’s trip to the romantically beautiful Sicily, made all the more so through the author’s descriptions and characters personalties. It’s the story of two people so alike in many ways, and yet maybe not so in others but true love knows no bounds as opposites attract. This gorgeously sexy man and lovely young woman navigate their newfound romance.
I enjoyed the characters Gian and Mazzie, the scenery, and this wonderful story. I would always enjoy this as author’s work as her talent knows no bounds. Well done!
I love Bella Michaels writing and I loved Meet, Play, Love this is Gian and Mazzie’s story and its set in beautiful Sicily. This author has a way with storied and she draws you in and she paints pictures with her words which mean you feel like you are experiencing everything this island has to offer. Both Mazzie and Gian are dealing with some issues and they are in Sicily to recharge and move on with their life’s. They are not looking for a relationship or love but we all know love often happens when we least expect it……. This is a book with all the feels, you will laugh, you will swoon and at times you will want to vang this couples heads together but all in all this is a fun, entertaining read.
questo libro è meraviglioso (this book is wonderful)
I dare anyone not to fall in love with a holiday romance in the beautiful setting of Italy, Bella Michaels breathed her magical into one of the most romantic countries in the world, the chemistry matched the setting, and Gian was just everything a hot American/Italian would be, Mazzie has come with friends to Italy after her dad passes, a little holiday fling maybe just what the doctor ordered, but under the Italian stars, both are beginning to release this may be more than the fling they first thought it was going to be, the storyline is well written, the emotions that Mazzie is still feeling after the loss of her dad and losing the bar that he owned made a great backdrop to this wonderful read.
Come on a girls trip to help Mazzie get past a family loss and back into the rhythm of things with her friends. Explore the city, eat the wine, enjoy the view and meet the men! Gian DeLuca is spending his summer staying at a family friends villa while working on growing his marketing business. As a form of gratitude he is also the Pool boy at the same Villa Mazzie and her friends are staying at.
Almost instantly the connection is made, and Gian wants to make it clear that he only has eyes for Mazzie. Going out on a few dates exploring the city. On one outing they get stranded at a winery tasting due to a rainstorm and are forced to share a cabin. Enter one bed trope and we get a steamy night that leads to a long awaited relationship!
Gian wasn’t looking for a long term relationship. Mazzie is looking to settle down and get back to some form of normal after she has lost so much. Can these two come with terms and follow their passions? Grab a glass of wine and follow along!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Mazzie goes to Italy for a girls vacation to recover from the sad dealings life had thrown to her over the last few months. She didn’t know how healing Italy would turn out to be when she met Gian. Gian’s sister talked him into spending the summer working in Italy to help put some things into perspective for him even though he felt his life was great the way it was his sister felt he needed something more. Mazzie isn’t like the other women Gian usually meets and goes after but the sparks seem to fly strong when they are together. Their story is full of heat and chemistry as well as sweet moments that will leave you swooning.
"Stability is boring. Life is a daring adventure or nothing at all."
Mazzie is on a girls' trip, trying to mend her heart after the loss of her father, her only living relative, and the subsequent loss of his honkytonk and the family home. Gian is working remotely and moonlighting as a handyman at an estate in Italy for a family friend.
Mazzie thinks Gian is a player. Gian thinks Mazzie may be the one worth changing for. Sparks fly on this vacation romance, but will the summer end in heartbreak? A strong standalone by Bella Michaels that will have you wanting to travel to Italy, drink wine, and fall in love.
