Most stories about a time loop like to rely on repeated loops and learning from each one. Meanwhile, Undead Unluck introduces the single loop concept. It gives Fuuko ONE chance to try again. And it adds a lot of stakes to the loop. If something goes wrong, she can't go back and try again like she could before. The pacing of this series is just spectacular.

I guess the idea is simply because chronologically Gina and Void were early opponents so it makes sense to get to them first, but I really do appreciate how this new Loop allows us to take more time to get to know these characters. Same idea with Nico, I guess, who didn't really get any development until the dead ass end of the previous Loop. Like, Unknown had a good story because so much time was spent on him, so it's fair to blaze through his beginning to get to Nico, Ichico, Gina, and Void sooner. A big thing about a lot of battle manga is they dedicate the first couple dozen chapters to lighter / quicker stories, so the villains don't leave too much impact unless they're kept around for gag reasons (Emperor Pilaf) or join the main hero cast (Hiei and Kurama). Here, we kind of have the latter.

Probably a bad thing about the fast pace for this new Loop is we have our new Union speedrunning the Quests. Well, the speedrun itself isn't "bad," but a consequence is that new-Gina gets a lot of her development in a single chapter, when the Autumn "trapped in a book" arc for Fuuko took much longer, and therefore its conclusion felt more cathartic. Then again, Gina's sword attack is pretty cool, so I guess it balances decently.

Here we go! Fuuko has begun the new loop as she attempts to get everyone back on board to tackle god in the final battle. I really love the way this volume quickly speeds through multiple character arcs and recruitments. With so many people to recruit, it's understandable that they would push through. The quick speed of this series is one of the things that really makes it work I think. It's one of the most fast paced and fun ones out there. Basically, the volume is spent getting Nico (scientist), Ichico (unsleep), and Gina (unchange). Gina's stuff is the most emotionally interesting I think as she is sent into Fuuko's book in the middle of the Autumn fight to come to understand what her perception of Unchange was in the future.

Standout moments:
- Fuuko buying oil wells historically for unlimited money basically
- Fuuko using pass loads of times to get what she wants from Apocrypha
- Fuuko telling Gina that true power is those who care for others with an unwavering heart after literally punching a guy into defeat
- Young Gina wearing old Gina's coat as a message to old Gina

The loop has started and Fuuko is showing us why SHE is the main character. I like that we're starting with the 'first' and 'last' opponents of the previous loop, Gina and Nico! Gina we barely got to see, and what we saw was back when Undead Unluck was still finding its footing. Nico... I guess we saw a bit of, but we didn't get his backstory and turn until the very end. But they're here from the start this time! If you thought Unchange was ridiculously powerful and kind of wasted in the first loop? Woah boy, Gina is HERE. And Nico makes sense as, you know, THE smart dude. What's great is seeing how Fuuko uses her limited resources to start pulling the Union together- it's like starting over on New Game+ with a wiki open in the background telling you a bunch of cheat codes.

It is really cool that they took some of the members that were killed off early like Gina and Void and use this loop to go into their characters and have them come back without technically bringing them back from the dead. This is a good compromise as it does become tiresome when a story just brings back characters as it sort of cheapens a death in the series. This way the characters still had a death that was meaningful but now can come back to be fleshed out more. Gina is especially great as it felt there was more to her before she died back at the beginning of the story and her powers were very unique and I am glad that we can see them more in action.

It’s very exciting to see Fuuko running the Union this time around and her figuring things out with such confidence. It’s both fascinating and amusing to see her interacting with, basically everyone, but especially her dynamic with Nico and Ichigo. Also, everything about Gina absolutely warmed my heart and I’m eager to see her and Fuuko’s friendship throughout the rest of the series.
Overall, I’m beyond eager to read the next volume and see how things go with recruiting Void (and others).

The story feels a bit jumpy now that Fuuko went through the loop and she's rounding up the Union, but overall, the manga is great. I love Fuuko's development and the absurdity of some of her new experiences.
