While I didn't finish the entire anthology, there is one story that stands out. If it was a stand-alone story, I would give it 5 stars. Lessons in Kneeling by Anah Crow is outstanding. Every once in a while I read a story that makes me think, and think, and think. This is one of those stories. A beautifully written story with a deep message about honor and the strength and power of surrender; a reminder that no one can take what is freely given. It is not a romance, but it is incredibly moving!

Abosolutely LOVED Anah Crow's, Learn to Kneel...so much angst and inner struggle! Truly a moving story for being so short. So sexy when the stronger man yields...

The quality of stories in this anthology vary from really good to bleh; still I like the queering what we think of bottoms. In that respect it was a fun read.

I personally love a story about a big, tough guy who takes it like a man. On the emotional side, there are underlying issues of power, control, pride, and self-perception. On the physical side, the image of a large, muscular guy on his hands and knees is simply scintillating. In each of these stories, whether they know it or not, the big guys are in for a real treat when they bottom. For some it is the very first time, while others have previous experience. Some enter into their new role willing, while others put up quite a fight. All end up with a highly pleasurable encounter, resulting in an erotic thrill-ride for the reader. Following is a listing of the stories included in the anthology, along with a very brief description.

• “Logan’s Project” by Chris Owen ~ Condo developer Logan has quite a surprise in store for his brawny demolition man Mr. Big.
• “Spike” by Matt Stedmann ~ Carl and Ben's battle goes from volleyball court to alley when Carl unexpectedly uncovers Ben's secret desire.
• “Release” by Mychael Black ~ Werewolf Jared finds a new way to release energy when vampire Geoff wants a pup for the evening.
• “Lessons in Kneeling” by Anah Crow ~ With his advisor Lian's help, Tiras discovers how to preserve his pride and dignity in light of the custom required to seal the surrender of his kingdom, Stratymos.
• “No Man’s Servant” by KC Warwick ~ Blacksmith Nick battles with passing soldier John over who will be the master in the bedroom.
• “Riders on the Storm” by Eider Grey ~ Young Coyote makes a play for older fellow rider Poet.
• “Drive” by Jamie Booth ~ The Brains must teach the Driver a lesson after he acts erratically during execution of a bank heist.
• “In the Hole” by CB Potts ~ Corrections officer Grant must learn to show respect as the convict at home with his lover, fellow officer Rusty.
• “Fuck Me… Please” by Martin Delacroix ~ Forrest recalls meeting Navy sailor Tyler who expects sex in return for sharing his hotel room with the ex-marine.
• “The Ghost” by Noel Blue ~ Detective Neil is attracted to, and intrigued by, a sexy jewel thief, nicknamed the Ghost, who eludes capture at every turn.
• “Like Clockwork” by Meredith Shrike ~ Narcissistic sky-pirate Gideon proves to guardsman Jules that he cannot be caught, and turns the tables on his captor.
• “A Game of Empire” by Autumn Winterwind ~ Revolt leader Hans and Vice Admiral Bielefeld must learn to trust, and submit to, one another again after Hans is captured.
• “Crocodile Bird” by GS Wiley ~ Rahotep gets decked out to celebrate the return to Rome of his lover, legionary Cordius.
• “Personal Time” by CA James ~ Andrew takes some time off from work to get guidance from personal trainer Akash.
• “Open Up” by Clare London ~ A patient receives a wicked personal examination thanks to a fierce dental phobia.
• “Unmasked” by Syd McGinley ~ Hunter is unmasked as his lover Alan makes an attempt to participate in Halloween tradition.

I greatly enjoyed every story in this collection, which ranged from fun and humorous to touching and poignant. They are all filled with intensely erotic sex and wonderfully engaging characters. Each story is a unique take on a similar theme, and it is fascinating to explore how each author has a very different approach. The stories blend together beautifully and offer an introduction to some new authors as well as selections from favorite veteran authors.

There are a few stories in particular that left a big impression on me, both for the characters involved and the situation they find themselves in. The first is "Lessons in Kneeling" by Anah Crow. This is a brilliantly written, poignant story which stayed with me for a long time after my initial reading. The characters are very realistic and the emotions are strong from beginning to end. Tiras is facing a daunting responsibility, as Teygtin of Rhyenth will take him in front of everyone to seal the surrender of Stratymos. Many of the stories in this collection address the internal turmoil that some men experience at the prospect of being penetrated, and Crow’s story is a perfect example. Due to his sense of pride, Tiras struggles to allow another man to enter him, no matter what the reason. As Lian tells Tiras, "A man is degraded by his own actions ... by his own mind, by his own shame, but never by the actions of another."

I was captured by Tiras and Lian from the start of the story and was moved by the wealth of emotions and compassion. Crow makes such a wonderful statement with this story, "All great men must take lessons in kneeling." There is so much meaning behind such a simple statement, and Crow has crafted a story that is both fascinating and moving. I was already a fan of Crow’s work, and this story is a wonderful example of her style and talent!

Another story that resonated for me is "In the Hole" by CB Potts. This story marks the return of correctional officers Grant and Rusty. The men have a unique balance of power in their relationship. Although Grant greatly outweighs Rusty, he submits to the man to get what he desires and needs. Grant's deepest secret is his need to be punished, to be held accountable through humiliation and harsh treatment. The story walks a fine line, as the interaction between the men is rough and the scene could easily become dangerous, but at all times Rusty's main concern is Grant's safety. Grant belongs to Rusty, and Rusty owns him both as “Rusty-the-guard” and “Rusty-the-lover”. As Rusty tells Grant, "You're a convict. My convict. In my hole."

This story is a powerful display of a relationship that is based both on love and the ability of both partners to challenge the traditional definitions of power and control. Grant is a man who accepts that giving himself over to his partner does not in any way make him less of a man. I only hope we get to see more of these characters in the future!

The story "Fuck Me... Please" by Martin Delacroix deals with some of the same issues that Crow tackled. Ex-marine Forrest relays his story of meeting Tyler and having sex with him in vivid detail. Forrest is the stereotypical male, convinced that to be penetrated will make him less of a man. Several times during their encounter, Forrest forces a full stop to their activity while he fights his pride and self-perception. Tyler is prepared to convince him that he is wrong, and provides the following persuasive argument.

"When you're growing up, people tell you only girls get fucked, that a guy who gets screwed is a sissy, a fag, but it's not true.

Having the balls to let another man pump your ass till you come - till he comes - takes courage."

This statement could so easily have appeared in any number of the stories in this collection. Forrest, as well as so many of the other characters, is forced to face his preconceived notions head on, and to find the courage and control to be completely open to another. It is exciting to watch as Forrest finally gives in to the pleasure and embraces a new view of himself and Tyler.

Overall, this is an excellent collection of stories that I cannot recommend more highly! You definitely will not be disappointed!

Normally i don't have problems with anthologies at all, but this was a different story. Most of the stories are so short that it doesn't feel like a story at all, just a bed scene and that's it. That's not what i'm looking for in books, i prefer a little bit more story than bed scenes and that's why i stopped reading it midway, just couldn't bring up the energy to continue reading.

To Meredith Shrike: I loved your addition to the BOBB anthology! The Captain was a gem himself, all that mischievous charm and Jules a prince. I loved the combination! It was soo sexy *v*. I wish there was more to their story, but there's not,so I'll just enjoy their scene in its glory over and over.

Everything about this book is great. Great intro, all excellent stories and all so good that they're far too short. :) It's always the one that you least expect, who ends up submitting. I especially loved Open Up...I may never look at a dentist's chair the same way again.
