Jerry McNeal #12

Special Delivery

Rate this book
While Marine veteran Jerry McNeal and his ghostly K-9 companion Gunter are no strangers to foul weather, they face their biggest challenge to date when they find themselves knee deep in freshly fallen snow while they make their way across country to deliver a special present for Max’s thirteenth birthday.

They soon find themselves snowbound on the interstate with dozens of other holiday travelers – including a pregnant woman worried about her husband, who left in search of help when his cell phone couldn’t get a signal.

Will Jerry be able to get the woman help before her child is born on a snowy interstate?

Will Jerry and Gunter be able to find the husband before hypothermia sets in?

Will Max’s present be delivered on time or will it disappear by the time they arrive?

One thing is certain, Jerry and Gunter will have some rather unconventional help in Special Delivery , the twelfth installment of The Jerry McNeal Series.

Happy Endings and New Beginnings

Jerry solved some personal dilemmas and helped out some people on the way. The puppy has a cute name and brings a fascinating conundrum to the series. Max and April are prominent in this story and we get a key cameo from Alex and Savannah. Fred and Seltzer had me laughing over their conversations with Jerry and the ending had a huge smile. A great addition to Jerry’s life and this series.

So enjoyable.

Reading this series is like opening a bag of licorice thinking you can stop at one or two, until you look and see that you've eaten half the bag. I have read this whole series. I always plan to take it easy and read slowly; make the book last. Never happens. As soon as the new book comes out, I drop whatever else I was reading so I can read about Jerry and Gunter. I gallop on through the book like there's no tomorrow because I can't wait to find out what's new with the duo. In this installment, Gunter has a new buddy and we finally find out what came of his "friendship" with Lady, the German Shepard. And whether Jerry finally moves any further forward with his feelings about April and Max. Some may call this series silly or unbelievable - I call it a delightful escape from reality and I can't wait for the next episode. I'll sit down with Jerry and Gunter and a fresh bag of licorice. I know they'll both be finished way too fast.

Love these two!!f

During his visit with Mom and Dad Gunther hid a puppy in the house. Scaring Mrs. McNeal who thought it was a rat. Now that its time to get on the road again Jerry wants to stop in the Destin FL area to check on Holly. Finally getting the answers he needs he calls Fred about getting his car back. Fred gets Jerry, Gunther and the pup on a commercial flight to Nashville, TN which has its own perks. The new car is loaded! Jerry is asked to follow a semi which is transporting an elephant in the middle of a blizzard. That's where the adventure really begins. You've got to read it!! It's full of chuckles, pain, near death and love. Great story!! Thank you!! A story a month is a lot, could you do maybe 4-6 in a year? Jerry McNeal and friends make me smile and lighten my heart. Looking forward to the novel in April. Take care. God bless you and yours.

One of the best series I've read!

I would recommend the Jerry McNeal and Gunter series to anyone who loves animals, the paranormal and a good mystery. This is a very well written series with a cast of many entertaining characters and thrills to keep you turning page after page. I wish it came in paperback and not just Kindle, I have friends and family who would love this series but would rather have a book in their hands rather than an e-book.
My one and only complaint about these 12 books is that they are too short, I didn't want any of them to end! I just finished book #12 and I want to get into another one. I was so glad to see that #12 is not the last we will see of Jerry, Gunter and Gunter's son as well!! I can't wait for Spirit of Deadwood!!

Nice short story

What would Jerry do without all the women in his life, he would be lost and more of a basket case than he already is. Can't forget about the dog, he is the detective and service animal after all. Jerry will eventually mature some day, he is only in his thirties...

My Thoughts

I’ve had a love interest picked out for Jerry throughout this series. I am thrilled that I now know how that works out for him!

The puppy is the best! I love that he is part dog and part ghost. He certainly has some interesting abilities due to this, plus he is adorable! Gunter has been a delight in every story and continues to be in Special Delivery. His canine smile, sense of humor, protectiveness, and work ethic make him a joy to read about. If you are a dog lover, you will quickly fall in love with Gunter and Houdini.

I love Jerry’s relentless pursuit to help others, strangers no less. He even puts himself in harm’s way to do this. He is an all-around good guy, and his abilities make him even more fascinating. Another character that grabs me is Jerry’s grandma, who is a ghost. She is a hoot and a half.

Special Delivery wraps up this series of short books nicely. I am looking forward to the next book, a full-size novel. I need to know what else Jerry is up to!

Sporadic bouts of the disappearance of Max's thirteenth Birthday present that even Gunter can't cope with. During his slow process driving through the constant falling flakes of snow Jerry is caught in a bad blizzard whilst on his way to see April and Max.
A phone call from Fred asking him to assist with a very large problem causing traffic ahead becoming almost stationary due to its slow-moving advancement. The build up of large snow drifts forming added to stranded vehicles, mayhem is looming
In his mind, Jerry hears a woman's intermittent screaming and has the feeling that out there somewhere, a man is lost in this freezing weather.
Will he be able to get to April and find out what her true feelings for him are, and will he and Gunter save the screaming woman and find the lost man.............?

The series isn't ending!

I don't think I have ever read more than several books in a series because it takes authors so long to write a book that I forget about it. Not with Sherry. She did an awesome job publishing every month which kept my interest. Even if she had taken longer, I would still be yearning for more Jerry and Hunter. This was supposedly the last in the series and I wasn't sure if I wanted to read it or save it for later. Thankfuly I decided to read it and learned that though I may have to wait a bit for the next book, there Will Be a next book! So if you haven't read the series, start now and you should be done by the time the next book comes out.

absolutely great series !!!

I’m reviewing all the books in the series in this review as a unit. I accidentally read Spirit of Deadwood before this one, but that okay !
From the first book till number 13, they have been consistently great and a joy to read. I feel like I know all the characters personally. Detailing was not overwhelming, a perfect balance of information so the reader can “see” what’s going on in everything. The paranormal balance was perfect, at least for me. Looking forward to number 14 !!!
If you’re in search of a great series, this is definitely one to get.

Jerry McNeal book 12

Loved, loved this book! Jerry’s dash to get to Max and April was great. But, the excitement of a blizzard and a mother in labor kept the book moving. Houdini is a great new character and Fred is his ever present self. Gunter presence is always fun and he always manages to have fun.
I recommend this series to anyone who wants a short light spirited story to read. But start with book one to get the full effect of the series. I look forward to more books about Jerry, Gunter, Max, April and the rest of the colorful characters of this series!

A series well worth reading

I started this series because I love book in which an animal is a main or secondary character especially if it has a personality. And Ms. Burton delivers exactly that. Her character development allows for you to really want more. And although she has finished out this part of Jerry McNeal's story I was very happy to read that this was not the last time that we will see Jerry, Gunter and the crew. I'm looking forward to seeing what Ms. Burton has in store for our favorite former State Trooper and his goast K9.

Having now read all 12 books in this series, I’m rather disappointed that I’ve completed them.
These books are a little different in that they are almost like chapters in a bigger book, the author wrote one a month and I pretty much read one a day.

If you are looking for mystery, fantasy, real life and a just plain good read these are for you.

Reading about these characters and animals is addictive, each story line different although many of the characters are back in the additional books.

Read this series, you will not be disappointed.

Wow this should be about a 15*!

I loved every single one of this series, but wow, this was by far my favorite! I loved the puppy and his puddles! I had to laugh at the things Jerry did that he didn't remember after Joe landed on him. While not funny, I have had the same problem after a concussion three times, and no drugs to blame it on! I am so glad this isn't the end of Jerry, Gunter, and Houdini, will be waiting for April for more reasons than spring flowers!

Jerry and Gunter do it again! They find trouble adding elephants, puppies, and new borns to the list of happenings

Jerry is caught up in his new job and is longing to get to April and Max. To get there he is handed a dream Durango and the care of Tiny the elephant. But to get to where they are going they get caught in a blizzard and many lives are involved in the rescue needed. Oh and can’t wait till you meet Houdini..

Books 1-12 fantastic

This was such a great series, and I am really appreciative for the pace they were released. You didn't have to wait long for the next adventure with Jerry and Gunter, you wanted to cheer on all the characters not matter how small their part. Thank you Ms Burton for putting out the series at the pace you did, and I look forward to the next adventures! If your looking for a well written series, this is for you.

Unique, Engaging & Fun!

I've just completed the first 12 books of the Jerry McNeal Series. I completely adore the characters (human & ghost alike). What a fabulous and unique concept, unlike anything I've read before. The characters are engaging and the storyline(s) fascinating. I totally enjoyed each and every book and can't wait for the next one(s). Don't stop writing, Sherry! We'll wait!

Reviewed a bit late

Firstly, my apologies to Sherry for not writing a review earlier. In my defense, I read the first one on Friday. I bought the series on Saturday. It is now 9 p.m. on Monday and I just finished Book 12. I have enjoyed Jerry McNeal and Gunther so much. I'm going to go to Amazon and order the novel as well as follow Sherry. I foresee many enjoyable hours of reading from her.

Gunter's 1/2 ghost pup is to become Max's birthday present but Jerry has to deliver him. Via plane rids and car rides, he ends up in some trouble due to his escape artist pup and a snow storm that is putting lives in danger. He finds himself trying to deliver a baby and locate a dad who is lost in the snow and headed for a pond with thin ice. Will the dad ever meet his little one? Will Jerry be in time?

Love this series!

I eagerly waited for each episode to be released. I am crying now at the conclusion. Thankfully, the author is continuing, but at a slower pace and longer format. For me, I'm going back and rereading the series again from the beginning. From me, there can be no greater recommendation.

Soooo good!

This is my favorite series! The writing is just so good! Jerry has a gift of knowing where he’s needed in order to help others. Aided by Gunter his K9 partner, who’s a ghost, Jerry ends up in a terrifying blizzard. He knows he’s ended up there bc someone needs help. Write faster Ms. Burton! I can’t wait to find out what happens next! These books are the best!

Good news!

I have enjoyed reading this series, getting to know Jerry and those around him. This book had a little drama, love and hope for the future. Gunner is as protective as ever and it will be fun to read how he does with the growing family. If you haven't read the entire series you should❣️

A great ending...

But...I just read this isn't A real ending. I am so glad. I've enjoyed Jerry and Gunther's adventures. Also greatfull that he got the courage and insite to realize that April was the one for him. She and Max were my first choice. I'm looking forward to reading more about them in longer stories.

I stayed up waaaay too late to read this in one go. I love Gunter and his little escape artist. It is a great story with some awesome wrap-ups including a nailbiting sequence that requires all of Jerry's friends. Love this series (binged the first 10-11 in less then a week). Anxiously awaiting more.

Love this Series

I’ve loved every book in this series, but if another series with another team can be developed, it will be just as well read. There should always be a little romance in a serious novel, so we will read it more thoroughly. I had to read every sentence of these books because the telling is so compelling. Thanks goes to the author, Sherry Burton
