Piero Marchese, nobile solo nel cognome e nelle intenzioni, è un precario a tempo indeterminato. Ha una moglie molto pragmatica, Betta, e una figlia con un nome che dice tutto: Maria Attila. Anche se ha sempre avuto la testa a posto (o forse proprio per questo motivo), il Piero si sveglia ogni giorno con la sensazione che per essere felice gli manchi qualcosa: un lavoro migliore, una mentalità più aperta, una vita sociale sfavillante… Desideri e miraggi che lo portano a rovinarsi l’oggi inseguendo un domani che, in realtà, non gli piace nemmeno. Nelle disavventure di questo Marcovaldo contemporaneo, illustrate dall’autore teatrale Marco Paolini, Simone Tempia scava alla radice delle nostre insoddisfazioni e ci racconta la commedia degli errori che chiamiamo vita.

Sono felice di averlo finito così velocemente , non vedevo l’ora di arrivare alla fine e metterlo via. L’ho acquistato perché mi è sempre piaciuto il maggiordomo Lloyd ma questo è stato davvero noioso, se non altro scorre bene come scrittura.

This book is very clearly inspired by Italo Calvino's Marcovaldo and in fact Piero, the protagonist, is a man that many would define as a misfit, who lives in a world of his own, in search of the happiness. Indeed, as the title says, in search of a happiness. Hence, chapter by chapter, Piero seeks happiness in something different: in a job, in a new kitchen, in healthy eating, in saving money, in physical activity, and in many other things, all of which fill the 22 chapters of the book, also divided into 4 seasons, a bit like in Marcovaldo. It is a book that I really liked, because it makes you laugh and makes you think. Through Piero's adventures and misadventures, it gives us the opportunity to think of many things in which we too seek happiness, above all practical things but sometimes also spiritual ones, in a continuous search for something that fills our lives. And perhaps the final teaching is precisely this, that is, that the only thing not to do in life is to stand still waiting for it to pass; instead, it is better to always be on the move, always looking for something, something that is often not the answer, but that has filled our lives for a certain period, giving it a meaning.
Eventually the book ends with a twist, through which the author makes us understand that one of the most important things we have to think about, for us and for our loved ones, is our health. And he tells us that the right time to think about it is when we're happy, not when we've neglected ourselves so much that it's late.
It is a very well written book, with a pleasant style and with a sometimes-refined language, always of a high standard. In addition to Piero there are other characters, among which obviously stand out his wife Betta and her daughter, with a very particular and evocative name, Maria Attila. Four stars.

Simone Tempia sembra sempre che ti prenda per mano e ti porti faccia a faccia a te stesso, stringendoti in un angolo da cui non puoi scappare: sei davanti alle tue miserie e alle tue fragilità e in qualche modo impari ad abbracciarle. Anche qst libro non fa eccezione. Il Piero sono io, che mi arrabatto a cercare felicità in mille cose per poi scoprire che, forse, l'ho già trovata. Mi aspettavo forse qualcosina di più a livello narrativo ma il Piero diventa proprio un amico.

Lieve, divertente, amabile e a tratti poetico... un po' come un viaggio in retromarcia su un tram che ripercorre cose che ti sono accadute ma a cui non hai dato le giuste attenzioni ed emozioni.
