Michael Lindley is a #1 bestselling Amazon author for "Mystery Thriller & Romantic Suspense" with his debut novel THE EMMALEE AFFAIRS.

His more recent "Hanna Walsh and Alex Frank Low Country Suspense Thriller" series ranked #1 on Amazon for Mystery and Suspense series. The "Hanna and Alex" stories are set in Charleston, Pawleys Island and the fictional Dugganville, South Carolina.

His stories feature love and relationships challenged by the troubled waters of betrayal, tragic loss, and the many dark and unforeseen forces that can lie just below the surface of our fragile lives.

All of Michael's books are set in idyllic locales and often compelling historical contexts. The settings include a remote resort town in Northern Michigan in the 1940's, 50's and present-day; Atlanta and Grayton Beach Florida in the turbulent 1920's as well in current times; and most recently, 1860's and present-day Charleston, Pawleys Island and the fictional Dugganville, South Carolina.

Michael writes full-time now, stepping away from a career in Marketing and Advertising and divides his time between Northern Michigan and Florida. He and his wife, Karen, are also on an annual quest to visit the country's spectacular national parks.

"You will often find that writers are compelled to write what they love to read.

I've always been drawn to stories that are built around an idyllic time and place as much as the characters who grace these locations. As the heroes and villains come to life in my favorite stories, facing life's challenges of love and betrayal and great danger, I also enjoy coming to deeply understand the setting for the story and how it shapes the characters and the conflicts they face.

I've also been drawn to books built around a mix of past and present, allowing me to know a place and the people who live there in both a compelling historical context, as well as in present-day.

Writers like Pat Conroy and Kristin Hannah grace my bookshelves along with Ian McEwen, Dennis Lehane, Amor Towles, Anita Shreve, Lisa Wingate, William Kent Krueger and on and on. I need more bookshelves! ML

This is the best so far in this series. Alex, police detective, gets a call that an assassin they have been hunting is in a local bar. When he and his team get there he is nowhere in site. They hear a disturbance in a back room. They go there and Cain, the assassin, opens a door suddenly and knocks Alex down and he looses his weapon. Cain kills most of the team and wounds Alex.
This is a page turning thriller that has corruption in the government and police headed by a crime boss. There are a lot of surprises and action in this thriller.

Hello, this author Michael Lindley. I'm excited to release "Death On The New Moon" on June 21. This will be the third installment in the continuing saga and love affair of attorney, Hanna Walsh, and Charleston police detective, Alex Frank, all part of my "Troubled Waters" suspense thriller series.

Goodreads encourages authors to leave their review in the spirit of providing additional insight for readers on the new book.

In "Death On The New Moon," Hanna and Alex seem to have found a promising new start for their lives together when Alex encounters a tragic loss and near-deadly run-in with a dangerous crime syndicate. As Hanna tries to help him through his recovery and search for a dangerous killer, the surprise return of a lover from her past sends all hope of her future with Alex into a tailspin.

The story plays out against the idyllic backdrop of Charleston, Pawleys Island and the fictional Dugganville, South Carolina. "Death on the New Moon" can be read as a stand-alone novel, or readers can start at the beginning of the series with special pricing on both "Lies We Never See" and "A Following Sea."

I hope you enjoy the story and please leave your thoughts on the book with your review here on Goodreads.

Thank you,

Michael Lindley

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one. All thoughts & opinions are entirely my own.

A very awesome book cover, & proper great font & writing style. Wow, a very well written suspense book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great suspense movie, or better yet a mini TV series. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

Death on the New Moon: The ‘Hanna and Alex” Low Country Suspense thriller Series Book 3 is by Michael Lindley. Hanna has stayed in Charleston; but kept her house on Pawleys Island. She started in a law firm on the island and keeps busy with her free clinic in Charleston. She has been dating Alex Frank, a Charleston PD Lieutenant who helped her when her husband was killed.
When Alex gets into Charleston, he finds his partner ready to go arrest a man names Caine. Caine is wanted for murder and is thought to be a killer for the Dellahouysea crime family. They head to a bar where they plan to arrest him. Instead, Lonnie and three other officers are killed and Alex is shot in the neck, just missing his artery. Caine gets away.
Alex is investigated by IA as a formality after a shooting. When it is time to leave the hospital, He goes to his father’s to recuperate; but gets addicted to his pain medication.. Then, he is accused of being involved with tipping Caine off about the arrest and causing the deaths of the officers. Can he find his way out of this mess?

Meanwhile, an old beau and lover of Hanna's comes to visit and mess with her feelings. As she attempts to decide whether to go with him to the Bahamas or stay with Alex. While she is thinking about this, Sam shows his true colors.

The third book in the Hanna & Alex series, and another Lowcountry mystery I thoroughly enjoyed. I always love reading stories set in familiar coastal places—it makes everything easier to visualize and adds to the immersion. One thing the author did especially well was gently recapping the characters’ histories as they reappeared in their respective POVs, which made it easy to jump back in without feeling lost.

I went back and forth between giving this four or five stars. You can tell the editing process wasn’t as tight as it could have been, but the story itself was so engaging that it kept pulling me forward. Honestly, I would’ve finished it in a single day if real-life responsibilities hadn’t gotten in the way. I was completely blindsided by the true identity of the hitman—no red flags, no suspicions, nothing. That reveal genuinely caught me off guard. I do wish the “damning evidence” in the IA case had been revealed. I also thought the book might end on a cliffhanger, so I was relieved to see it tied up instead.

A compelling, fast-moving read that kept me hooked despite a few flaws.

This was my introduction to this author and series. Even as a beach-read thriller, it's the weakest of tea. It's a cheap polemic in Southern-fried noir clothing.

Detective stories are interesting when they take you on an investigation revealing clues and motiovations. None of that happens. Dramatic events take place *to* and *around* the main characters, but not *because* of them. Ancilary characters drop in or literally ring the doorbell to present situations to them. Alex and Hanna are the author's surrogates so he can have a "conversation" with himself. The title is supposed to be a clever double entendre that will connect via the primary case and a subplot, but for those paying the least attention, you'll see where it's going by the halfway mark, if not sooner.

Didn't like the book. Don't like the author's style. (How many times does the killer - revealed in the opening chapter as the killer - need to be referred to as "the killer" in the same scene?)

The only reason to read something like this is to convince yourself that you could write something better.

Author Michael Lindley’s Death On The New Moon was a riveting, mind ravaging read!! Subtle build up to a BANG UP GREAT STORY that unfolded in a big way. Compelling page turner as usual at the hands of accomplished Author Michael Lindley that leaves no stone unturned to bring the reader great reads in Suspense Thriller #6! Very exciting and some complex events that take place which sucks the breath out of the body. I never saw one suspect unveiled that I had even considered a bad guy...NO SPOILERS, but you WILL NOT be disappointed to take my advice and DIG IN and read a great thriller mystery. Enjoy!!!

This is a top notch thriller. It's the first book in this series that I've read and I was a little worried that I would be reading out of order (I was given an arc copy in exchange for an honest review - hence why I was reading out of order). I have to say, I loved it and I'll be back for the others. It's a page turner with a real love story, and a twisted low-life assassin who makes a delicious villain. I'm a particular fan of the low country, and the author knows how to make it a character in the story - playing its posh, Southern Gothic elements against the gritty lives of cops, fishermen, criminals and people just trying to get through the day.

The third book in this series carries on the suspense and drama as Hanna and Alex deal with a professional killer working on contract for the local mob boss. The characters are realistic and the action travels through the low country. Alex is wounded in an unsuccessful attempt to arrest the assassin and encounters a series of setbacks as he is set up as a traitor. Hanna must deal with the return of her first love who left her pregnant when he left the country. The writing is straightforward as typical with Lindley, with perhaps a little more detail on the violence than in the earlier books.

Alex Frank finds himself searching for a crime syndicate killer. He and Hanna are also trying to find time to relax together at Hanna's beach house on Pawley's Island, SC. The unexpected appearance of Hanna's college boyfriend, Sam Collins, causes friction and upset. After twenty years away, he thinks they should get back together. He is rather vague about his time away and Hanna does not quite trust him. The killer Allex is hunting also seems to be lurking on their doorstep.
A surprising and suspenseful episode that tries to pull Hanna and Alex apart.

Lindley Hits a Homerun with number 3 in this series

Hanna and Alex have more dangerous adventures as Hanna tries to help her underserved clients and Alex chases criminals as a Charleston Police Detective. As their personal relationship continues to develop, more obstacles attempt to derail it. Lindley keeps you on your toes keeping up with all of the plot lines. A page turner for sure

5 stars for Death On the New Moon (Low Country Mystery Book 3). Alex and Hanna are enjoying each other and weekends at Pawleys Island. Chaos ensures on a Monday as Alex, his partner and four other policemen are all shot trying to apprehend a hitman. Hanna is deep into helping a young girl get an abortion and the return of her college boyfriend. The plot has lots of twist and turns and you just can't stop reading.

Not terrible but LOTS of editing needed on these self published books. There are a bunch of contradictory background. The love lives of the main characters are set back in high school…very unbelievable. I live in Pawleys Island and one would think that NO ONE ELSE did based on the descriptions of the Pawleys house and beach access. I bought the set of books and am now on the last one but its a real struggle -

****SPOILER*****
I lost a lot of respect for Hannah with this book. This is a woman who is supposed to be mature, highly educated and yet she was ready to quickly throw away a relationship with the man who she was supposedly very deeply in love with. I felt like she was acting more like an 18 year old girl then a 40-something year old woman. had I been Alex, I would never have taken her back. it was just all very disappointing for me because of Hannah's behavior.

I read ‘Death on the New Moon’ straight through since I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. Author, Michael Lindley used his engaging writing style of tying present time with the past to create the most suspenseful and intriguing Alex and Hanna story. Then he topped that with a twisted ending
making the best goodread. It’s a page turner and must read especially for anyone that’s not read any of the ‘Troubled Waters Series’. Then go back and start with #1 ‘The EmmaLee Affairs’, it’s a top favorite book for me and Mr. Lindley is on my favorite authors list. This series is too good to miss!

A Total Surprise

As I was about halfway through this book, I thought it didn’t quite measure up to the first two books in the series. I was totally fooled, because the plot seemed to explode in unexpected directions and kept my eyes glued to every remaining page. Kudos to Mr. Lindley!

A very exciting plot and lots of action. A good editor will make this book more readable. Misplaced quotations and odd use of italics made it a bit jarring. The story, though, was good. I wonder that Alex would ever get hired with the FBI with his loose cannon attitude but he makes for a good action character. I'll probably read the next one that comes out.

In book 3rd this series, a liver from Hanna’s past appears soon after Alex has a near-fatal run in with a deadly crime syndicate. It seems as if these two can never get a moment’s peace! Will thoroughly enjoy this next book as you get swept up into intrigue, ambitions, murder, and people who are not what they seem.

I enjoyed the characters in this book. The way the story goes from past to present was easy to follow. Once I started reading the book, it was difficult to put down, kept creeping in my mind until I went back to reading it to find out what was going to happen next. All in all a really good story!

Interesting read if you don’t want to think very hard about what’s happening. Not very suspenseful and quite predictable. I felt that the main characters put themselves in some pretty stupid circumstances, but it was entertaining for a quick summer read.

Not my favorite. Now that Alex's ex is out of the picture, Hanna's ex comes in.
Alex's drunken father and his drunken floozie are featured more than I like.
All about drugs and a sociopathic enforcer.
