About the author

Bobbie Hinman holds a B.S. degree in Elementary Education and is a former elementary teacher. She has applied her knowledge of children’s literature to the creation of a series of fanciful fairy books that have received 26 children's book awards.

I Saw Santa's Underpants is a short picture book for children they will undoubtedly find hilarious- I had a good giggle myself! Santa is off in his busy night of the year but only realises he's forgotten to wear his suspenders to keep his pants up when it's too late!
I shared this with my daughter and she found it really funny. The pictures are comical to match and the story is told in rhyming format which flows perfectly as you read it out loud. I'm sure this will be a popular choice in the classroom for story time and would make a great book for any child at Christmas to enjoy again and again each year.

This was hilarious and adorable! I think my 6 year old and almost 3 year old will enjoy this on at Christmas. I really liked the illustrations and that it rhymed - makes an easy flow for read alouds with little ones. And my kiddos will find the whole concept of underpants showing absolutely hysterical. What a delightful surprise! The rhyming text is well done, and I could almost hear Burl Ives reading this one aloud. The story is both fun, and funny. I expect all ages will enjoy this silly new Christmas classic.

I Saw Santa's Underpants is a cute picture book for children. Santa gets ready to head out to deliver presents on Christmas Eve, but in his excitement, he forgets to put on his suspenders. What happens next had my grandchildren laughing and me giggling. The story is told in a rhyming format and the cadence was perfect as I read this aloud to my 4 and 6 year old grandchildren. The illustrations were well done and matched the story well. They were bright and vibrant, large and showed emotion well. This fun story is great to use to predict what might come next and problem solve. The last page had a seek and find for Santa's underpants which my grandson had fun with. This is a cute story that could be used in primary/kindergarten classes or to be in family libraries.

Santa's sleigh is dusted off. He opens up his closet and choses his wardrobe for his big whirlwind trip around the globe. The elves have successfully packed gazillions of toys to give to all the good little girls and boys and the reindeer are ready to soar off into the sky.

After waving good bye to her husband Mrs. Claus returns inside and discovers that her husband has forgotten to take his suspenders. Oh my! Without them his pants will surely fall down.

Down below Max and his dog Cooper are fixing Santa a yummy treat when suddenly Santa appears and starts putting presents under the tree. That's when an embarrassing mishap happens... Santa's pants do start to fall down. Cooper rushes over and starts tugging at Santa's pant leg pulling his pants down even further exposing his UNDERWEAR!

How will Santa recover and get on with his important mission of delivering all those gifts around the world before morning with his underwear showing? Luckily it's Max to the rescue to help Santa out of his dilemma. With imagination and his problem solving skills Max becomes a superhero and successfully helps Santa out. I wonder how he does that?

This delightful rhyming book will have kids giggling and the illustrations are fantastic. This would be a terrific read aloud and addition to a classroom and school library. I love "I Saw Santa's Underpants" and I highly, highly recommend it. Miracles do happen at Christmas time... just ask Santa! I hope Max was rewarded for his ingenuity and prowess. He certainly deserves it.

Thank you to BooksGoSocial, Bobbie Hinman and NetGalley for the advance copy of I Saw Santa's Underpants. I read this with my 6-year-old daughter and asked her for her review as, after all, she is the target demographic for this book.

She enjoyed the story, after an initial language-usage-confusion caused a look of absolute horror to appear on her face (much to my amusement). <> So when Santa's pants fell down, she initially thought the old man had rather horrifyingly exposed himself entirely to a little boy...

Once the confusion was cleared up, she enjoyed the story, although she was of the opinion she was a little bit "too old" for it and I agree it is best aimed at children age five and younger.

Unfortunately, both of us did not like the illustrations at all. In my daughter's words, they were "boring", in my more adult interpretation, they are simply layered clipart. They really let the entire book down.

My daughter asked me to give this book three out of five stars. The story got four stars from her, but we both thought the illustrations took away a star.

Who doesn't love Christmas picture books? This was a cute picture book by Bobbie Hinman and illustrated by Remesh Ram. Children as we know love potty humour and with this book, we discover that Santa has left behind his suspenders back at the North Pole. Mrs. Claus is worried as without them, Santa's pants are surely going to fall and expose his underwear and that's exactly what happens when he arrives to deliver one little boy's Christmas presents. Can the little boy help find something around his house while his parents are asleep, to cover up Santa's bottom? This is an easy-to-read picture book with rhyming which is always great when reading to toddlers and young children as well as bright colours for the illustrations. I Saw Santa's Underpants by Bobbie Hinman is perfect for children aged 4-6 years old and the perfect addition to those 12 nights before Christmas reading which is an advent tradition I love. So, readers when you are writing your list of Christmas books to share with your children - don't forget to add this fun one to your list as everyone will enjoy it.

on the kindle FIRE ...this book (illustrations and text) is extremely tiny (small) to read ...it doesn't make it easy to read for that reason i am going with 4 stars ...if it had been normal sized, easily to read which some kindle books are ...i would have gone with 5 stars ...i would recommend handheld read for that reason. i am not getting why some kindle reads are perfectly sized and others are not right?? i don't get who decision or who decides this?? the author or Amazon?? i would say i am wondering why they don't call them "boxers" instead of underwear ...does that mean overall ...that when you wear them as undergarments ...that mean underwear ...see my point??? are what they call: "tighty whites" (underwear that go doesn't the length of your leg, stops at upper leg/hip), "boxers" (which are a longer style kind of undergarment?) illustrations are super cute and fun!! must read. enjoyable.

Santa leaves one Christmas Eve and forgets his suspenders, with a sustained rhyme and rhythm better than some this year and bright, cartoonish images. Fortunately, young Max is waiting for Santa and assists him in making some new suspenders. This new take on seeing Santa under the tree is fantastic. Colorful and entertaining for all ages.

The holiday season often brings a flurry of new Christmas books, each vying for a spot in our festive traditions. In 2022, I came across "When Santa Forgot His Suspenders," a book that attempts to be a whimsical classic but with all the competition ends up being middle of the road.

For picky adults like myself I'm focusing more on the gaps in the storyline rather than revelling in the fanciful nature of this story. It's a silly festive tale that younger readers will enjoy for the rhyming and bright illustrations.

My thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book, however it was a real pain to read on my kindle or even phone. It just wasn't optimised as a picture book and each frame was bisected.

Simply put, I loved it. I cannot wait to read this to my stepson close to the holidays.

I am such a sucker for books with a fun rhythm, and the rhythm of these rhymes were quite fun to read aloud.

I Saw Santa's Underpants is a lovely Christmas book to enjoy with all the family! The illustrations are absolutely amazing, with a clear intention linking to the text. The writing is amazingly written with rhyming words and so a hint of humour throughout!

It highlighted how problem solving can take time and multiple changes in order to be right, from the shower curtain to the bandana's to make suitable suspenders for Santa.

I would highly recommend this book to parents who have young children.

This is a really funny children's Christmas book, which my daughter and I loved.

The story is about Santa, who forgets to wear a part of his outfit, which leads to a bit of a disaster for him, although it is funny for us to see. Luckily, he meets a little boy who helps him with what he needs.

The book has beautiful, vibrant and colourful graphics, and easy to read text, which we really enjoyed.

I highly recommend this awesome book. It is fantastic and it would make a great gift for any child.

I am such a sucker for a good Santa picture book. And this one was adorable!

Santa forgets his suspenders and wouldn't you know, at the first house he visits, his pants fall down.

There were so many laughs in this little story. The artwork captures the spirit of Christmas so well and Santa even has rosy cheeks. This is a book that we'd love to read each Christmas, if only to giggle about Santa's underpants.

Refreshing Christmas story

My daughters had a good laugh reading this book, especially when they come up with their awesome solution at the end. A sweet good night story, absolutely recommended.
