This is the story of Cissi Klein, Norway's Anne Frank. Or so it says on the book. The book tells the story of Klein's family and their acquaintances, their every day life before it turned upside down. The story unfolds in Trondheim. Cissi lives there with her parents and her brother. Before that, we get the story of how her father tries to build a successful business.
While reading, I felt more of reading about the people surrounding Cissi's life. Yes, it's stated that she didn't herself document much from her own life. But! I feel like I got to know her a bit. Her short 13 years of life, ended all too fast. This was a girl who loved skiing and being with her friends, she had hopes and dreams. Her future was robbed.
I do understand that the people surrounding her should have a bit of the story in this book, but this meant that it overshadowed Cissi Klein's story. I wanted to know about her. Also, there were paragraphs who jumped from one to another, it felt inconsistent. I do want to recommend this book, although the tiny information about her short life, we do get to know the situation of how the jews in Trondheim was treated, also in Norway in general. It was definitely a new look on the history.
Happy reading!♥️
