Marie Rydzynski was born on March 28 in West Germany to Polish parents. She moved to America at the age of four. For an entire year, Marie and her family explored the eastern half of the country before finally settling in New York.
Marie swears she was born writing, "which must have made the delivery especially hard for my mother." From an early age, Marie's parents would find her watching television or tucked away in some private place, writing at a furious pace. "Initially, I began writing myself into my favourite shows. I was a detective on '77 Sunset Strip,' the missing Cartwright sibling they never talked about on 'Bonanza' and the 'Girl from U.N.C.L.E.' before there was a 'Girl from U.N.C.L.E.,' not to mention an active participant in the serialized stories of 'The Mickey Mouse Club.'" Marie began to write her first romance novel when she was 11 years old, although she claims that, at the time, she didn't even realize it was a romance! She scribbled off and on, while dreaming of a career as an actress.
Marie was only 14 when she first laid eyes on the man she would marry, truly her first love, Charles Ferrarella. During her days at Queens College, New York, acting started to lose its glamour as Marie spent more and more time writing. After receiving her English degree, specialising in Shakespearean comedy, Marie and her family moved to Southern California, where she still resides today.
After an interminable seven weeks apart, Charles decided he couldn't live without her and came out to California to marry his childhood sweetheart. Ever practical, Marie was married in a wash-and-wear wedding dress that she sewed herself, appliqués and all. "'Be prepared' has always been my motto,"the author jokes. This motto has been stretched considerably by her two children, Nikky and Jessi, "but basically, it still applies," she says.
In November of 1981, she sold her first novel for Harlequin. Marie, who now has written over 150 novels, has one goal: to entertain, to make people laugh and feel good. "That's what makes me happy," she confesses. "That, and a really good romantic evening with my husband." She's keeping her fingers crossed that her reader's enjoy reading her books as much as she enjoyed writing them.

4 1/2 Stars! ~ John Gabriel is struggling to make ends meet and to give his four year old daughter, Katie the love and attention she needs. He's becoming desperate and is afraid he'll lose her. Courtney's father believed in real love and that money couldn't buy that. When he passed away, he stated in his will that Court would only receive a yearly allowance (losing the family house) unless she were to marry a blue-collar man before her 30th birthday and remain married for a minimum of two years. Court's time is running out, it's a month to her birthday. John's renovating her guest house, and Court makes him an offer he just can't refuse, Katie's future depends on it.
This is the first book I've read written by Ms. Ferrarella. What a wonderful story teller she is! John and Courtney are both real people with real pasts and problems. Their coming together is a story we've heard before, but Ms. Ferrarella makes it something fresh and special. Little Katie is adorable and a wonderful little matchmaker.

Great read!

Well... I guess that didn't take too long - 10 days under a month. I really need to intersperse more tolerable books in between my harlequin/silhouette reading blitz. I try, every 7 or 8, to have a couple of new releases of favored series, but that's not working. Not when there are more interesting things to do...like vacuum carpet. ;)
So ok, daddy moneybags, because he'd married a waitress and it worked out, decided that his beloved only daughter needed to marry a "commoner" (for want of a better word) by her 30th birthday if she wanted to inherit. He died when she was 19, if my calculations are correct. She's turning 30 in a few weeks and no prospects on the horizon. Why not? Oh I dunno, maybe overhearing at least one prospect brag to his girlfriend that with her money, he'll be able to buy her(girlfriend) lots of presents has something to do with that.
Yeah. Nothing like the prospect of millions to draw out slime.
The H, having once married into money (and having only a sickly daughter to show for it) has...issues...with rich attractive young women. He accepts her proposition because his daughter needs surgery. And...he doesn't tell her about the child's illness, even though that's gonna be hard to hide seeing as how the surgery is scheduled a month after the wedding.
I'm torn really with the thought that at least it was short, but on the other hand, they go from sniping at each other to deciding to make it permanent in just a very short period of time, mostly off-page. I think I would have liked this if a) there wasn't that inheritance clause that led to the marriage in the first place (can't imagine too many men appreciating feeling bought) and b) the sickly child that made him accept.
