Silent Knight is a beautifully sweet holiday novella about the art of paying it forward. We get to catch up with Archer and Jaye Cox 10 years later, along with their two rambunctious and sweet-hearted girls. Super cute read and perfect to give you all those Christmas warm fuzzies ❤️.
*ARC received from author in exchange for my honest review. *
Archer Cox won my heart in Compassion with his story but Archer Cox in Silent Knight completely captivated it when he gave his girls the only Christmas present, they could've ever hoped for.
More than a decade and two kids later Archer is still grateful for his wife Jaye and the chance she gave him all those years ago. He is no longer the homeless man we met but a businessman with a family and this holiday season he has the chance to make his little girls Christmas dreams come true with one chance. A chance that if he were not given, he would not have the life that he does now.
Silent Knight takes you on this beautiful journey through the Christmas season with Archer and Jaye where we get a glimpse into the life that they have created. Archer got his chance and with a little bit of luck and a Christmas miracle he might be able to give that hope to someone else.
While I suggest reading Compassion the story of how Jaye & Archer fell in love you can read this on its own to give you just a little bit more faith this holiday season.
Goodness! I just love Archer and Jaye! Their girls are so sweet and cute! They have the best hearts, just like their parents. Silent Knight is the perfect follow up to Compassion! We get to see how well Jaye and Archer are doing 10 years after their first book. I love their family dynamic and the relationships they have with Jaye's parents. Very heartwarming and joyful Christmas novella!
A wonderful continuation of a beautiful love story. Joyce and Archer now have 2 special little girls. I loved seeing into their future. The story was filled with touching moment showing the compassion and love of this beautiful family. Little girls with hearts bigger than their little bodies. Archer does everything he can to make their Christmas wish come true. Heartwarming story to say the least.
A fun and sweet Christmas read! I absolutely love seeing Archer and Jaye again and their whole family. Great writing and a lovely story about love and the beauty of family and Christmas!
It was great to catch up with Archer, Jaye and their family. So much has changed but their love and compassion for others remains the same.
Looking for the best Christmas gift, it becomes obvious what Archer must do. Although there are some disagreements, lack of trust that lead to some tense moments it turns into a beautiful happy ending.
Great book to get you in the spirit and help us remember to always be kind and try help others as we do not know their story.
Xavier Neal has done it again! I love how these compassion series books touch real world issues. It’s the perfect holiday story with just enough spice.
Maybe one act of compassion could lead a silent knight to expand it to others.
Until he met Jaye, Archer never thought he would have a family he could call his own. Ten years later, with two daughters, Archer and Jaye are trying to figure out what gifts to buy for their daughters. Having come up with the idea of writing letters to Santa with what they wish he would give them for Christmas, both parents are surprised at their kids' choice.
Silent Knight is a cute, romantic Christmas novella. It’s a sweet short read about Archer and Jaye from the first book in this series: Compassion. With a heartwarming HEA, this couple will make you swoon.
I really enjoyed everything about the novella. Jaye is still a remarkable character and I’m still envious of her. (She has a handsome, loving husband, cute kids, and she can get all the books she wants, all the while enjoying teaching kids about books and reading.)
Archer is still caring, and with his kids now in the picture, he’s doing everything he can to make their lives happy. I love how that one act of compassion is now spreading to their families. It shows just what wonderful parents Archer and Jaye are.
This book was a quick read, but it was impactful. Love and compassion are sometimes what a person needs to turn their lives around.
I loved seeing what wonderful children Archer and Jaye are raising. They have instilled in them the same values that Jaye herself had. Seeing them ask for something for Jedd, a man living on the streets, for Christmas instead of material things for themselves shows just how much they're like Jaye. I felt bad for Archer because he felt he had to go behind Jaye's back and took so much time away from his family. But to see this family ten years in the future, the daughters Rainne and Henz, both with such large hearts and yet each with their little personalities was priceless. It was such a thoughtful way for Archer to be able to do for someone else what was done for him. I also loved the thing's that Jaye does for her father who is retired from the force now. They are all very thoughtful and have come a long way. I loved this novella and read it all in one sitting.
This novella is one I will read every Christmas. Jaye, Archer and the grands are spectacular. The littles are amazing! They asked Santa for something for someone else. Compassion and love that only children possess. Eating that elephant piece by piece, figuratively people, is one of the best approaches to continous growth in relationships. Stellar job again Xavier Neal!.
Please note: This is a stand-alone Novella but to really understand the story, it is best read after reading Compassion which will give you the backstory of these characters. OMG, this book will give you all the holiday feels and more. First, revisiting Jaye and Archer after reading their story is delightful. Second, seeing how far they've come, how they have grown, how their family has changed and grown is amazing, it's the kind of follow up you always want from stories you love. Their daughters are so great, funny, smart, and compassionate (see what I did there). This is a story about those girls, asking Santa for what seems impossible, and the love of a father that wants nothing more than to maintain the magic of Christmas. It's a story of self-reflection and growth though because Archer may have dealt with a lot of his stuff, he still has some issues to work through. I loved every moment of it, and it was the perfect wrap up to a beautiful story, wrapped in a bow for the holidays!!
A truly fun Christmas story with tons of swoon and humor to put you in the holiday spirit. I feel this book should be read as a companion story to Compassion the extended edition. There were a lot of references to the characters and scenes from the compassion story, so unless you read the prior story you would have been lost. Archer and Jaye are back ten years later with two young, precocious daughters added to the mix. It’s Christmas time and Archer and Jaye are trying to figure out what to give their daughters for Christmas. Writing letters to Santa revealed that besides a puppy, they both want something above all else. Archer never expected such a wish from such young girls and decides to explore how to give them, said perfect Christmas gift. What evolved from their Christmas wish was another compassionate story about love and selflessness. There were elements of the story that seemed to be all over the place and in my humble opinion, the angst created towards Jaye by Archer’s “secret project” was unnecessary. However, I loved these characters so much and what evolved in this story, so that it didn’t take away from enjoying this quick read. All was explained and the end result was a feel good story about hope, compassion and paying it forward.
If you are looking for a novella length read that can deliver mega feels, lots of laughter and some serious swoon all wrapped up in a warm, fuzzy blanket of Christmas charm, you are going to want to grab this book right now!! If you have read Compassion: The Extended Edition you will already know and adore Archer and Jaye and if not, I highly recommend you do, simply because it is such a truly amazing romance that will make your heart melt right into a big pile of mush. In this sequel we get to check back in with them and as they say, great things come in small packages. Sweet, emotional, fun and spicy, this story will have you shedding a few poignant tears, tons of ones from joy and remind you of all the things that we need to be reminded of that are so important like love, family, friendship and compassion. This is my freely posted frank review.
Silent Knight A Compassion Christmas Novella (The Compassion series Book 2) by Xavier Neal is a Christmas Novella that takes place 10 years after the Book Compassion also by Xavier Neal. This novella can be standalone, but better read with the first book of the series.
This is a sweet novella that gets to the giving spirit of Christmas. Jaye and Archer’s daughters are so sweet and selfless with their Christmas wishes. This story is mostly sweet with a little spice. I know novellas are short, but I wasn’t ready or expected the ending when it did. I wouldn’t mind another book or novella to follow Jedd and Jaye and Archer’s family in the future. This Novella and the first book of the Series breaks the fourth wall and speaks directly to the reader and took a bit to get used to. This novella is an excellent quick read that gets to the heart of Christmas.
This is a companion novella and should not be read as a standalone.
What an absolute perfect holiday themed read! This story gives us a nice ending for Jaye and Archer. It was the perfect blend of humor, love, steam, and Christmas miracles. Their children are hilarious and have amazing hearts. The love that Jaye and Archer share is so pure and beautiful. The quiet lessons in this story are ones that will stick with you long after you've finished. I know that this story will be one I reread around the holidays each year.
4🤩🤩🤩🤩 (ARC REVIEW) “Passion for Compassion” I absolutely loved Compassion: The Extended Edition and this Christmas novella has been my favorite of the season this year. We get an update on the Cox family 10 years after Compassion and it felt like I picked up right where I left off. Jaye and Archer are parents to two precocious little girls who are the real stars of the story! The couple is teaching them true meaning of the holidays while navigating keeping the spirit of Christmas alive for their little ones. It’s incredible how Ms. Neal was able to construct their little personalities into a combination of all the people in their family and extended family. Brava! And just like Compassion, the life lessons abound, sprinkled with a heavy and healthy dose of charm and wit. The message about spreading the love and paying it forward is really what makes Silent Knight shine. I truly enjoyed it. I requested, read, and reviewed an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Read if you’re down with: *Holiday Books *Precocious Kids *Good Parenting *Spicy Holiday *Compassion
Silent Knight is book two in the Compassion Duet. If you haven't read Compassion, I suggest you read that before reading this book. This book was heartwarming, steamy and full of love. I love Jaye and Archer so much and their daughters are just adorable? This book is the epitome of the Christmas spirit and I hope everyone loves it just as much as I did.
What a fun Christmas read to compliment having just read Compassion. Archer and Jaye are back and ten years have passed adding in two adorable if not cheeky daughters. This story brought about all the feeling from the original about hope, compassion and paying it forward. Heartwarming Christmas read.
I was given a complimentary copy but voluntarily chose to review
This was a sweet and fun catchup on one of my favorite couples. The loving farther wanting to get the perfect gift for his girls and it also ended up paying it forward. And I love they way he still calls her sweetheart ***sigh**😍
This was a sweet, quick read. I enjoyed getting an update on Archer and Jaye. I love the compassion that the entire family shows and I adore the interaction of the 2 children.
This was an update for the characters in the extended version of the story Compassion. I truly enjoyed Compassion and couldnt wait to get another look at these characters and see where life had taken them.
Archer and Jaye will forever be two of my favorites from Xavier. These two show compassion in all they do and raised their children that way too. I loved that the kids had well developed personalities and were integral to the story without taking away from the story telling Ive come to love.
There was depth and a well developed story even if it was a novella. I never felt that it was lacking and would have enjoyed another full length novel. This could stand alone but goes much better after reading Compassion, the extended version.
This was a great follow up to the first book for Jaye & Archer. It’s 10 years & 2 kids later. These 2 still have great chemistry & the steamy scenes were good. This was a short, but good, Christmas novella. It was a great to get a little glimpse into the future & see what’s been going on.
Oh how I’ve missed these two! Compassion has been one of my favorite books by Xavier, and this little Christmas Novella with Archer and Jaye was EVERYTHING! Grab a cozy warm blanket, a cup of hot cocoa and get ready for some Christmas magic.
Archer and Jaye have to figure out what their two little ones want for Christmas, and I swear once you find out it’s gonna tear at your heart strings. They are raising their daughters to have so much compassion for others! I loved every little thing about them, and honestly I would love more with Archer and Jaye. We could honestly learn something from those two!
Oh this little treasure warmed my heart. Archer and Jaye are couple’s goals as they navigate the holidays with adorable and precocious daughters.
I needed a feel good Christmas book and this hit the spot. I’ll have to read the book that chronicles the romance between Archer and Haye because based on this I can tell it was epic. Love how he wants to make the holiday super special for his daughters after seeing their letter. Be still my heart.
* I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
It was so good to revisit the characters Archer & Jaye from the first novel. If you haven't read it please do. This time they are loving family with Christmas slowly closing in. I loved the idea their children had. Sit back & enjoy this beautiful story. 🎉🎄🎅🏾
This holiday Novella about one of my favorite couples melted my heart!! I loved seeing life after marriage with their two sweet girls who they have definitely raised with the compassion for others as well. I didn’t think I could fall for Archer than I had before but Xavier definitely made me do just that. Such a beautiful sweet story and I love how it all turned out.
I am a lover of holiday romance novels and this just charted in my top faves. I loved Compassion and seeing the love and trust between Jaye and Archer bloom, so reading their followup was so much fun. I loved seeing the effect Jaye's compassion had on Archer and the way he paid it forward. This is a definite repeat read for every Christmas season to come!!
