Got victoria to buy this for me over a year ago when I had a two week gig helping a timber framer. I read the first third or so about the history of timber framing in the US then, but couldn’t really follow the more technical side of things. Dropped it for about a year while I focused on my new job, then decided to take a timber framing class cuz I still wanted to learn it. Tried again with the book pre-class and still found it hard to parse, but picked it up a third time AFTER the class and loved it, everything feels very clear and straightforward now. The whole second half of the book is directions and advice for building a shed that they provide plans for. I’d like to build a slightly larger variation on that shed as a guest house on our property but I’m trying to make myself do baby projects first so I don’t get overwhelmed/discouraged. Feeling now like I need to start moving on that soon cuz my “new” job from last year is starting to feel kinda unrewarding, my coworkers are driving me nuts, and I want to be able to work from home.
