The Cold Springs Killer
The trail of murder victims leads to the sleepy town of Cold Springs . . .
. . . but only Liam Fredricks sees the supernatural pattern.
Can he stop the killer?
Liam never thought he’d be the recluse living in a cabin and obsessively researching a serial killer, but after seeing reports of crime scene after crime scene that echo the murder of his wife and daughter, Liam becomes just that.
He knows what the official investigators don’t, but when he arrives in Cold Springs and declares that a string of bear attacks claiming seven lives is really the work of a man, he becomes an instant laughingstock.
But the truth is, the Cold Springs Killer isn’t exactly a man, either, and if Liam tries to reveal everything he knows, he’ll sound even more unhinged.
The police and forest rangers don’t know what they’re up against, so it’s up to Liam to do what they can’t—find and stop the Cold Springs killer.

I really enjoyed this book.
It was fast paced and constantly kept me guessing. I went in thinking this story was about one thing and then completely thrown through a loop. I could never quite pin point what was going to happen next, but man oh man did that ending have me flabbergasted.
M. E. Hansen did such a phenomenal job keeping me as the reader completely inthralled by this plot.
If you’re looking for a quick read with some decent twists I would definitely recommend checking this one out!

This story had me hooked from the start. It is a quick-paced thriller full of suspense and interesting characters that pull you right through to the end. M. E. Hansen did a great job with the characters and world building in the Cold Springs community.
I couldn't put this one down, Hansen had me worried about this small town. The last half of the book I was just wracking my brain to see how it would all work out in the end for everyone and let's just say the last few chapters did not disappoint. Definitely pick this one up if you enjoy a good thriller!
*I received a complimentary copy from the publishers, publicists, and/or authors. A review was not required, and all opinions are my own.

The Cold Springs Killer by M E Hansen
Narrated by Kirby Heyborne
This audiobook of Hansen’s 2022 thriller was just released! We follow Liam, a youth counselor turn sleuth, to Cold Springs on his search for a serial killer.
Things I enjoyed!
Kirby Heyborne really nails his delivery in the first chapter and sets the tone for the book as a paranormal thriller.
Liam is a good person and likable, you really feel for him and his loss. He is maybe a little (a lot) crazy trying to hunt down a killer, but it’s easy to root for him!
There are some really REALLY intensely emotional scenes, and they are written so well. I could feel the grief, rage, and fear!
Peter and his very thorough, unhinged revenge plot.
Hansen does a great job of creating unsettling tension!
Fun stand alone novel that could easily be the start to a larger series.

This was a quick audiobook that I listened to on my flight this weekend, and it was a really enjoyable experience that made my 4.5 hours in the air easier.

Read
June 8, 2023M. E. Hansen wrote The Cold Springs Killer, a thriller with teeth put out by K & M Publishing. In it, Liam pursues a serial killer into the quiet town of Cold Springs where local law enforcement blames a recent rash of murders on a deranged bear. However, Liam recognizes a disturbing pattern. With the help of two local residents, Liam plans to stop the killings. This thoroughly readable novel is a lot of fun, and it includes one of my favorite paranormal tropes, though I refuse to say any more because I’m not a plot spoiler. (It’s pretty easy to figure out, though, when you read the book, but stick to the end for a different approach to an ages-old idea.)

I really enjoyed the story and was genuinely surprised by the plot twist at the end with Liam turning out to be a werewolf alongside Cassie was something I didn’t see coming. I did suspect Cassie might be one during the diner conversation, which added a nice layer of suspense.
That said, I think the writing could be tightened in places. There were a lot of descriptive details, and at times it felt like too much as it made the pacing feel choppy and parts of the story harder to follow. Some of those descriptions distracted from the main narrative and could flow more smoothly. Also, the ending felt a bit unresolved. I would’ve liked a stronger sense of closure.

They really should start working with half points on Goodreads. Three stars wouldn't be fair, so rounded up to four. This was a short read and, due to the entertaining story and way of writing, a quick read as well. The author has a pleasant style of writing, the story was interesting, interesting characters and well set-up. A book doesn't always need hundreds of pages - sometimes something short and sweet works quite well. In this case, however, I feel the book would have benefitted from a bit more content and a less abrupt ending. Nevertheless, well worth the read.

If you like werewolf stories, you're going to love this one. I don't usually because they are so similar and predictable, but this one was so different and so unexpected. The characters are so well thought out and the suspense kept me from putting this one down. The writing is so impressive and descriptive that you feel like you're watching a movie. If you like this one, check out Whispers of Addington Manor which is just amazing.

A fast-paced novella that gripped me from the beginning scenes.
No one knows who or what is claiming lives in Cold Springs, a small town that has a violent past.
Liam is determined to find the killer who took his wife and daughter three years ago
What he finds is far more sinister than he realized.
M.E. Hansen writes this story with mystery and terror from every chapter. The characters are real, and I felt compassion for each one. This is a quick read and worth it.
Rating 5 stars 🌟
