Something Something Fresh is a novel by P. G. Wodehouse, first published as "Something New" in the United States, on September 3, 1915. It was published in the United Kingdom as "Something Fresh" on September 16, 1915.
Uncle Fred in the Pig snatching and the eminent destruction of Blandings Castle makes for a rollicking story with Uncle Fred, at his shining best in the springtime, right at the center of it.
Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse, KBE, was a comic writer who enjoyed enormous popular success during a career of more than seventy years and continues to be widely read over 40 years after his death. Despite the political and social upheavals that occurred during his life, much of which was spent in France and the United States, Wodehouse's main canvas remained that of prewar English upper-class society, reflecting his birth, education, and youthful writing career.
An acknowledged master of English prose, Wodehouse has been admired both by contemporaries such as Hilaire Belloc, Evelyn Waugh and Rudyard Kipling and by more recent writers such as Douglas Adams, Salman Rushdie and Terry Pratchett. Sean O'Casey famously called him "English literature's performing flea", a description that Wodehouse used as the title of a collection of his letters to a friend, Bill Townend.
Best known today for the Jeeves and Blandings Castle novels and short stories, Wodehouse was also a talented playwright and lyricist who was part author and writer of fifteen plays and of 250 lyrics for some thirty musical comedies. He worked with Cole Porter on the musical Anything Goes (1934) and frequently collaborated with Jerome Kern and Guy Bolton. He wrote the lyrics for the hit song Bill in Kern's Show Boat (1927), wrote the lyrics for the Gershwin/Romberg musical Rosalie (1928), and collaborated with Rudolf Friml on a musical version of The Three Musketeers (1928).
Rating - Let’s not even kid each other. We all know there is a limit on the ratings these days.
For this special double-digit entry of review by @sid_art27, he chooses not one but a collection of Sir PG Wodehouse's glorious works compromising his 6 tremendous unstoppably hilarious to mind and unbearably painful to stomach books. And why 6 books? Because you can not get enough of Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse.
The books in this collection are
JOY IN THE MORNING - A comfort read where the characters are such a company to be with, Joy In The Morning gives the reader enough laughs to make their mornings, afternoons and nights joyful to the core.
THE INIMITABLE JEEVES - A fun and creative story finds the butler Jeeves and his master, Wooster in all their best comic form as they showcase us the lifestyles of the Rich and Irrelevant in one of the most entertaining ways.
THE CODE OF THE WOOSTERS - A personal favourite of mine and if it was not for these 6 books together in a collection, I would have chosen this as the only book to review. A classic piece of Wodehouse silliness where the mission is to steal a cow creamer, this book is madly laughable and the most recommended recommendation you will ever get from me.
SOMETHING FRESH - The first Blandings Castle book by PG Wodehouse, Something Fresh is a comic opera of writing mixed up with a who-dun-it adventure (my kind of story).
BLANDINGS CASTLE AND ELSEWHERE - The second Blandings Castle book in this collection, this is a short story collection that consists of the great story “Lord Emsworth and the Girl Friend” which Kipling said that it was “the most perfect short story ever written”.
UNCLE FRED IN THE SPRINGTIME - A riot from beginning to end. Uncle Fred is a delight, and he is surrounded by a colorful group of characters. I ask you to not miss this book even if you are on a reading ban. This is a book to be read even if one gets punished for doing so.
Well, if you are a kid or an adult or anything what the world is calling you for being of a certain age, leave all your work and pick up this collection to know the writer whom even the word genius is too feeble to define.
The only thing that I did while reading this was I laughed. I laughed. And I laughed some more.
And that is what happens when I pick up PG Wodehouse because reading his books, each of them made me the reader I am today. Follow us on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/the_book_ta...
