Sometimes, all it takes is one moment to change the entire course of our life. One single thing happens and like dominoes, it kicks off an unstoppable series of changes.

And because it is so inconceivable, we may often find the truth escaping being known, but that doesn’t mean that it is not there.

In the book, ‘Unbelievable’ by author Ketaki Patwardhan Nirkhi, we see the journey of our main protagonist who seemingly was leading a normal life like so many others.

Kshama was content in the life that she had built and the way everything had panned out, but all it took was one happenstance that changed the entire course for her.

Family is always touted to be the safe place where we can be ourselves and these are the people whom we love unconditionally, without any prejudices.

However, what ensues when Kshama finds herself against time to save her precious family is the basis of the narrative for the book, that was very well written. Hence I am going to give this FIVE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Every book is judged initially by it's cover followed by the title, because those are the key features which make the book move from the bookstore to the reader's shelf .

Although the book is a short read but it's a really captivating and engaging one of its kind. Starting with a simple and normal setting leading into a journey of innumerable questions , unknown faces and unexpected events - the story takes us to a rollercoaster ride.

Kshama was all set to enjoy her three year old daughter,Jinisha's b'day on a Sunday afternoon, with a flight to be boarded in the evening to Lucknow for work prospect. After successfully organising her daughter's b'day with the help of her husband Niket all seemed well.

But, after a day and a halves trip when she's back home - it's not her home anymore. She couldn't find her family, her daughter, her brother and even her husband. All seems lost and missing. What happens ahead???? Stays a mystery until you reveal in the mysterious filled novel of its kind.

Title: Unbelievable
Author: Ketaki Patwardhan Nirkhi
Genre: Sci-fi Thriller
Rating: 3.8/5

What would you do or rather how would you feel when,
After a day that is well spent at home, wherein you celebrated the birthday of your three year old; had an amazing family time with your husband, brother and mother,
Following which you got on a plane from Mumbai to Lucknow, to attend a work conference, only to find your co-passenger (A clairvoyant or in simpler terms ‘a psyche’) seated next to you go into a scary psychic trance in the midst of the flight with her eyeballs upturned and shout out at you in a husky voice, telling you to stop ‘it’ and to catch a plane back to Mumbai, else she would be a caught in an alternate reality.

Doesn’t make any sense, does it?
And so you would just decide on ignoring the entire episode, considering the old psychic woman a psycho; just like Kshama, the protagonist in this story did.

And then it happens!
As soon as Kshama enters the hotel in Lucknow, she finds there’s no room booked under her name.
She calls her husband but it is picked up by another lady because apparently her husband doesn’t exist at all and thus naturally neither does her daughter.
Her brother doesn’t seem to be around either while her mother acts estranged.
In short, everything is weird and different and Kshama doesn’t have any clue about what it is that is happening.
She ‘IS’ indeed in an ‘ALTERNATE REALITY’.

To know what happens ahead, you have to read the story which I found to be immensely captivating with regard to the entire plotline.

The author has done a good job with the narration and has tried well to mend as many loopholes as would be possible because it truly isn’t an easy job to write a thriller that is completely loophole free.

It would’ve have been even more interesting if the story was slightly longer; maybe the author could’ve played with ‘Alijah – the Psyche’s’ character a little more and added more to the story.

Nonetheless, it was an entertaining read; fast-paced and intriguing.
A good and short thriller read I would say!

🍥 UNBELIEVABLE: A GRIPPING SCI-FI THRILLER 🍥
By Ketaki Patwardhan Nirkhi

✏️The very first stirring I felt upon opening the Unbelievable: A Gripping Sci- Fi Thriller pages was that of stumbling upon an English of undeniable power and potence which had an epic story to narrate. The tone was unmistakably sombre and I realized Ketaki was not here to merely entertain me, she was here to make me part of the Sci-fi.

✏️It was intriguing and challenging and heck, since I live for challenges I decided to take this one up too, gladly. The challenge was the complexity and depth of the plot, which left me perplexed, in the beginning. I knew there were dialogues which meant much more than their superficial meaning and I was unable to grasp at it. I felt a yawning chasm between author's vision and my limited understanding of it. However, of course, I plodded on and could feel the gap closing in with every page much to my joy and relief.

The Foreword

✏️The foreword makes it pretty clear that Ketaki isn't kidding around. This is a serious effort at predicting, if the reality of our world change in a day. How our world will look it's a bloody good and detailed prediction. However, the real merit in this effort lies in the commentary on our lives in the present.

Themes

✏️In this setting, Ketaki does so much, it’s unbelievable. The dynamic nature of power, the effects of colonialism, our blatant destruction of our environment are themes which run parallel to the intensely exciting and labyrinthine plot. She shows the paramount importance of myth making and religion for power to sustain over long periods of time. Man, as a political animal is laid completely bare.

Why do good books get over?

✏️I almost forget this is a science fiction novel, it’s that real. It is also scary and prophetic. It is a reading experience that will leave you dreaming of the grave emptiness of change in reality and lost and make you wish you were there to brave it all in the privileged company. Ketaki achieves the pinnacle of what a sci-fi author aspires to rise to; authentic world building.

This sci book genre evolved some thought provoking thoughts on how a small change in our lives past occurrences can alter our whole life and how the people in life can change.

The protagonist kshama's life which was absolutely lovable with family (husband Niket, 3 year old girl Jinisha and brother Soham) suddenly changes due to reversal of timelines when she decides to travel to lucknow from mumbai. She did meet a person who has predicted and has guided her through different stages, but this experience in itself was a life changing moment for her. Did she like the new life or was she able to go back to the old life? Read this interesting book to uncover the interesting plot.

When we make decisions in life, we think we are making the choices. But the truth is, the choices have already been made for us. And we tend to choose that option which leads to the predestined destination, all the while thinking that the effects were a result of our choices. That is what we are made to believe. But we do exactly as is planned for us. In life, there is a very fine line between what is moral and immoral, what is ethical and unethical. It is important where you yourself draw that line.
Sometime some of us are lucky to have a good guide/mentor/friend/parents who guide us through the way to uncover our journey.

This kind of story and movie I have read/watched in the recent past but where life events change. But here the fiction story is different you will definitely enjoy reading this different kind of sci-fi tale.Happy Reading

This is the story about Kshama. She teaches botany to junior college students and she has been chosen to represent her college at a conference in Lucknow. But Day before the conference is her daughter's birthday. She doesn't want to miss her special day. After making all the arrangements and enjoying her daughter's bday she started her journey to Lucknow. Little did she know that this journey is going to turn her life completely.

This is such an Enjoyable and fast-paced short book. The writing is good and the engaging storytelling keeps the readers curious about what is going to happen next.

We are all in a situation at least one time where we thought what if I haven't made that decision what if I have done that...Like so many what if's... Just imagine a normal day in your life you are transported to another world where one of your what-if situations has happened. Where you are not who you used to be. This story explores the themes like alternative relatives and aslo deities. Everyone in the universe has a specific role and they are chosen to fulfil them. I loved reading this book. The perfect book to read in between heavy reads.

Though it's a good book, it's so predictable. If you watched or read any sci-fi-themed movies or books you gonna predict the entire story after a few pages.

Thus I only recommend this book to those who haven't read or watched any movie/book related to parallel universes or alternate realities. Those who just know the meaning but haven't read any story on this topic. This is very basic and helps to better understand what are really parallel universes or alternate realities are and how it works.

You can’t change destiny. You can’t alter fate. What was destined to happen, happened. You and I are just the pawns in this game but the puppet master is someone else. He runs the show. He directs it. The script is predecided. We can’t change the script.

What would you do if you found yourself in one of the alternate realty? When I started reading out Unbelievable: A gripping Sci-fi thriller by Ketaki Patwardhan Nirkhi I wasn’t expecting myself to be on a journey of time travelling. The book indeed was a gripping Sci-fi thriller because I read the whole book in just one day and it took me about four hours to finish it. Kshama is the name of the protagonist in this book who goes through alternate realities and time travelling.

I was very impressed with the concept and the timeline that is being explained in this book. The plot is really interesting and Author has been very clear in explaining this sci-fi in a very interesting manner that doesn’t confuse the readers even for a second. The only thing which I felt that could have made this book a little bit better was the depth and the narrative about other things in the scenario. I would definitely recommend people to read this one, especially those who are intrigued by the concept of alternate realities and time travelling.

ᴜɴʙᴇʟɪᴇᴠᴀʙʟᴇ is a gripping sci-fi thriller. Imagine that your settled and happy family life suddenly disappeared from the earth. You don't even have a clue where they are or where they've gone or for their existence, and you are living in a very different universe.

Kshama is a botanist and teacher who lives with her husband and daughter. She was supposed to go to Lucknow for a conference on her daughter's third birthday.
On the way, she meets Alija, a clairvoyant who tells her something shocking. When she landed she was a new person, new life, new people, and it drove her crazy.

Can she solve the ridiculous riddle of her life?

A short read and fast paced but really interesting. It includes alternate realities, time travel and much more. The experience of reading this book is worth cherishing and remembering. It's a short story, but it put me in a delusional state. The perfect book to read in between heavy reads. It helps to better understand what basic parallel universes or alternate realities are and how they work. I recommend this book to all readers especially to those interested in parallel universes or alternate realities.

Intriguing read

Kshama is a botanist and teaches botany in a college.
She lives with her husband Niket and daughter Jinisha.
On her daughter's 3rd birthday she is supposed to go to Lucknow for a conference. After celebrating her 3rd birthday kshma leaves for Lucknow.
On the flight kshama meets a clairvoyant who tells kshama to return home immediately or else she will have to face grave consequences.
When kshama comes back home she doesn't find her husband and daughter in the house, another couple is living in the house claiming it's their house.

Where are Niket and Jinisha? Will kshama ever be able to find them? Who was the clairvoyant kshama met on the flight? Has she had something to do with Niket and Jinisha?

I have so started loving these plots of time travel, parallel universe, and alternate reality. They are so intriguing. Loved the character of kshama, her compassion, love and kindness are penned wonderfully. The language is simple and easy to read. A good read for sc-fi lovers.

When the main character Kshama decides to relocate from Mumbai to Lucknow, the timelines are reversed, and her life—which was previously perfect and full of love—is abruptly changed. Her family includes her husband Niket, 3-year-old daughter Jinisha, and brother Soham. Although she did meet someone who was able to foretell her future and help her through various phases, the encounter itself was a turning point in her life. Did she enjoy her new life or was she able to return to her previous one? Discover the intriguing plot by reading this intriguing novel.

Given how difficult it is to write a thriller with no plot holes at all, the author did an excellent job with the narrative and made a fair effort to close as many as she could. For someone, who loves reading this genre, this book can stand up to the set expectations. The language was lucid and overall, I would definitely recommend you reading this book!!

Kshama's leading a good life: a loving husband, an adorable daughter, a career that's taking her places; she has very little to complain. Though there're somethings that could be better, she's content with what she's got.

This smooth sailing ship crosses into an alternate universe when Kshama meets a psychic Alijah on her way to a work conference. Putting an end to a cozy route and plunging her right into unknown waters.

In the alternate-verse Kshama tries to reach her husband only to find he doesn't exist, her daughter too by extension is not part of that world, she's not on speaking terms with her mother, someone else is living in her home. Is this all or is she too face more nightmares? What's her purpose here? How does she get back? These questions make up the rest of the book.

The story is well written and keeps you engaged till the end. I just don't get how this falls under sci-fi. And more importantly, alternate reality is too complicated a theme, but Kshama didn't face any of the conundrum of such heavy theme; she breezed out of her problems with easy explanations. Though it works for the book, it stops the story from being much more better than it currently is.

Intriguing and Captivating Read

A very cleverly constructed, well written time loop thriller book. As a fan of time travel fiction I absolutely devoured this book. It keeps you guessing until the end and wanting to know what happens ahead. The author did a great job having us feel the tension and excitement. The characters are very well drawn and interesting, especially the main female character Kshama who is thrown into a nightmare she doesn't understand but forges on with determination and love for her daughter and husband. Loved how the ending reflected changes made in the past. I really loved and enjoyed reading this book. Kudos to the author for such a gripping book.

This is a story written from view of a female protagonist Kshama who ends up time travelling against her will and has to figure out her life in alternate world to get back to her own.

This has been an incredible read featuring time travel and alternate reality crossovers. whichThe book was anything but predictable and after every few pages there was a surprise in store for me. I read this in one sitting as the timeline crossovers had me intrigued to the very end.

Unbelievable- The title absolutely justifies the book.

It is a sci-fi story that revolves around the life of Kshama, a Botany professor in Junior College, Mumbai. The story was simple and fast paced but the twists and turns- oh my god. The more I turned the pages, the more I was into the story.

No doubt it's a 5 star read. No extra scenes, no exaggeration. To the point story. It took me 4-5 pages to get the grip of the storytelling but then whoosh, within no time, the story was complete and I was craving for more of it.

I guess I have a new author to explore and increase my TBR.

🔸𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀 : On the flight to Lucknow to attend a botany conference as a representative of her college, Kshama meets Alijah, a middle aged lady who claims to be a clairvoyant. The woman warns her to return to her family immediately or she would have to face some alternate reality. As usual Kshama did not think much about this and went to the hotel where she was supposed to stay for 2 days. On the way from the airport to the hotel, she felt much more relaxed after talking to her husband Niket and daughter Jinisha. She met Niket few years ago when he saved his brother Soham's life. At the hotel suddenly she found that there was no reservation for her, so despite being angry with her college authorities, she booked a room for herself, room 302. As soon as she enters the room, she sees something strange and from then on her life begins to change. She cannot contact her husband and learns that her brother is dead. What happened in that room that changed her life like this? Will she be able to safely return to her family?

🔸𝗠𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 :▪️It's been a while since I've read such an interesting, fast-paced sci-fi thriller. Just can't describe how much I enjoyed it.

▪️Everything about this book was perfect, no unnecessary gossiping or description, just an amazing plot and a mesmerizing presentation. You never know what's coming next.

▪️There were parallel universes, murder and even a time traveler.

▪️Ending was perfect, unexpected but completely satisfying.

▪️Every incident, connection, emotion and character were efficiently portrayed.

▪️Finished it in one sitting and after the last sentence I was like WOW it was something. And now I know that I can't stop, need to read the author's other books as well.

So if you're a sci-fi or thriller lover please read this book, it's just amazing.

"In everyday life, we don't realize the worth of things we take for granted until they are snatched away from us".

This book is very special and very different as I have not read anything similar or near to it, this experience is worth cherishing and recalling.

Imagine your settled, happy, and perfect family life suddenly vanishes from mother earth. There is not a single clue of their existence and you are living in a different cosmos world. Where you are someone else, your family, your friends every single person you know is different. Your husband and your kid don't exist.

Got goosebumps isn't it?? Trust me I was in a different cosmos when I read the story. It's a short story but it left me dumbstruck and in a hallucination state.

Kshama is on her way to Lucknow after enjoying her daughter's bday. She teaches botany to junior college students and she has been chosen to represent her college at a conference. On the journey, she met Alijha a clairvoyant, as in a psychic, who suddenly gave her a shocking statement, and later everything around her changed.

When she landed she was a new person, new life, new people and it's making her go crazy.

I am sure you are also hell shocked and on edge to know more about Kshama and what exactly happened to her.

Don't waste time and just go for it. You will be more thrilled and astonished to learn the end of the story because every end has a great start to the other journey.

For sometime I couldn’t believe that such a fine and detailed book could really be written! Even though this is a time travel book it has absolutely zero plot holes and outright information and explanations of events.

This sci-fi book centres around Kshama a botany professor. After her 3 year old daughter Jinisha’s birthday she sets off to Lucknow for a work conference. She meets a clairvoyant on the way who warns her to return back home. Paying no heed to the old lady Kshama lands in Lucknow and rents a room in a hotel. There she stands witness to a murder but the most interesting thing about it is the murder was from the past. Had she entered into a time capsule and travelled years back? What was the alternate dimension she was living in now. Kshama felt disoriented and unable to live in a world where everything was estranged, all the relationships she had were different and her world has turned upside down. This is a journey of her trying to mend things in a parallel world and step into her own reality.

I was left totally flabbergasted and with goose flesh after completing this book in one sitting. You will not regret picking this one up.
