This is my first look into this World and I was thrilled to be invited. Andrea is a fire marshall who has just moved to town and not supposed to show up to work yet but rolls out to a fire with fatalities. There she runs into the county medical examiner, Taylor. They met several years ago and had a hot and heavy one-night or one-weekend stand at a conference in Vegas. They both have never forgotten each other. Being back in each other's orbit is kismet and is perfect since the chemistry is still strong between them. It seems Drea has a stalker who is also an arsonist. Will they find him before it is too late? This was full of suspense and steam and just so much goodness. I may have to go back and grab more of this world and immerse myself in it.

As a fan of stories featuring first responders, I looked forward to reading Backdraft. Read on for my thoughts on this romantic tale of a fire marshal and a pathologist.
Backdraft started out on an interesting note and soon I found myself engrossed in the story. I needed to know how it would all unfold. From the investigation involving the fires and the romance between Andrea and Taylor.
I enjoyed the romance between the protagonists. The fact Andrea and Taylor had history together made it that more special. It was good to know that even after one weekend five years ago, they never forgot each other. This made their reconnection easy. They came back into each other’s lives at a point when they were both ready for a committed relationship.
Andrea lived her life like a nomad. So when the opportunity to work as a fire marshal in Sunnyville came around, she immediately packed up and took the job. She never expected to encounter on her first day the doctor whom she shared a weekend of pleasure five years ago. An unexpected and pleasant surprise. What was even more surprising was learning he was now a pathologist and no longer an ER doctor.
Doctor Taylor Peel switched to pathology after tragedy hit close to home. He never forgot the woman who rocked his world five years ago. He never expected to see her again, so coming face to face with her at the scene of a fire was both a surprising and joyous occasion.
The romance which developed between our protagonists will warm readers’ hearts. Andrea and Tyler complemented each other. It was interesting learning what led Andrea on her career path. Also, how this incident fueled her fear of staying in one place. We learn what drove Taylor to make a career change, however it would have been nice if more details were provided regarding this incident.
Now, as much as I enjoyed the story, it had issues, which led to dropping off a few stars. The secondary characters received little attention in the story. I am not sure the reason a character named Chad was included in the story. The author failed to explore this character, resulting in him adding no value to the story. Also, it would have served the story well to add more detail to the stalker’s character.
The story surrounding the investigation of the arson and the stalker could have been better developed. Majority of the story focused on Andrea and Tyler’s relationship with little room left to explore the suspense arc.
Overall, Backdraft delivered an interesting read, which fans of romance featuring first responders will appreciate.

From the very first highly descriptive fire scene, through the angst and suspense, and the chemistry between Andrea and Taylor, I wanted to see how it all ended.
Five years ago, Andrea and Taylor shared one intensely intimate night. Neither could forget it, and they had no contact since then, until they ended up at the same fire scene. Andrea was the new fire marshal and Taylor the medical examiner. Taylor’s presence made it more difficult for Andrea to decide whether Sunnyville would be a temporary destination or not. But then Andrea’s life was in danger and Taylor didn’t hesitate to offer his protection.
I learned something new with this book. Backdraft is a fanfiction book in the Everyday Heroes World based on the books by K. Bromberg. I had no idea what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised.
The plot flows well and leads us cleverly towards the conclusion. I especially liked the thorough and detailed descriptions of the fire scenes and Andrea’s investigative efforts. The relationship between Andrea and Taylor is also explored in detail and I was invested in them as a couple.
Parts of the book are written in the first person from Andrea’s point of view, and others from Taylor’s point of view, but those are in the third person. This took a bit getting used to, but this isn’t the first time I’ve encountered it, so no big deal.
The writing may not be the best that I’ve ever seen, but I quite liked the story. I am tempted to try more of the books in this vast world of modern-day heroes. I can recommend it if you like steamy romance with a bit of danger on the side.

I loved this reunited lover's story and how they came together again. It fanned the flames of the past into emotions so hot they could have set the world on fire. Drea and Taylors passion for one another jumped off the pages into the heart of the readers with one of Shana Gray's most powerful stories. This story has everything, passion, romance, intrigue, mystery that follows these two people into a future. It will keep readers turning the pages to find out what can happen next to Drea and Taylor as they find their dreams, heal from the past and find a future together.

Gripping
This is the first book I've read from this author and I'm so glad I did. This is Taylor and Drea's story. Taylor moved to Sunnyville a few years ago when he became an A&E doctor, something happened involving his Sister in law and niece which prompted him to change his job to be a coroner. Drea was the new Fire Investigator and had only been in town a day or two when the pair met at a house fire but they had already met and knew each other intimately, a couple of years ago they had met in Denver and had spent a lot of time together, they didn't give any personal information to each other, not even last names but they had connected.
You can imagine the surprise on their faces when they saw each other.
This book is gripping.
I don't agree with spoilers in reviews but trust me when I say this story is gripping, there are some lol moments and tissues may be required.
I recommend this book and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Even though we were apart, the feelings we have are still strong...
What are the odds of meeting up with a one-night stand from years ago, apparently great odds with Taylor and Andrea. They hooked up with the understanding that no last names were mentioned and to have no further contact with each other. Andrea is now a Fire Marshall and Taylor a Medical Examiner. Andrea recently moved to Oak Creek and Taylor works in the same town. Needless to say, they were shocked when they meet at the scene of a tragic fire.
Their fire for each other has not diminished. They are still fiercely attracted to each other. Andrea has someone who is stalking her and Taylor goes into protector mode. This story is very suspenseful, and I found myself waiting for something to happen. Definitely a 5-star read.

I wanted to do and 4 but
I did love Vic. She was in a man’s job and taken care of business. Taylor hit a bump in life and chose to take another route in life. Both find each other again at a point in life they were ready to do and have more.
I really wanted to give a 4 to this read but did not. The reasons were because I still felt that Chad was not explained. The stalker was not fully explained. His capture felt off. This was not a full encompassing story. It was about Taylor and Vic with little room for secondary character roles. We see them but not really see them.

Burning hot
Backdraft by Shana Gray is a standalone novel in the multi-author K. Bromberg’s “Everyday Heroes” series. I enjoyed this action packed and sizzling hot and steamy romance between two people who have both been traumatized and have dealt with it in different ways. But Andrea and Taylor make an interesting and endearing couple who fit together even as they both fight it. The book is well written, the story is sharp and intelligent, and the characters have your burning up.

Fire Investigation
Andrea has come to Sunnyville to start her new job as a fire investigator. When one of her cases leads her Taylor, who is the medical examiner their past is revealed to be interestingly unforgettable. I could not get enough of this story and found it entertaining.

This book was a mess. Incredibly uneven pacing, continuity errors, grammatical errors, unresolved plot lines, repetitive phrasing. Really felt like an unedited draft. I want to say it could have been good with some editing but I’m not sure that’s even true.
