This series is so wonderful. I’m so very, very happy that the second book lived up to my enjoyment of the first in this series. Hex is the VP of the club and the thinker/planner. He also works as a custodian in a school because he wanted to feel closer to his deceased father. He becomes semi fixated (in a nice way) with Corliss an English teacher. There’s some trauma coming for Corliss (be aware of triggers) and it comes down to Hex being there in every way for Corliss. I love this club and the club brothers. They’re all amusing, hot, dark, and yummy. They can also be sweet and charming, and that’s why I need all of their stories. There’s some laugh out loud parts of this book. Things are brewing with another club and there’s additional challenges too. The only thing that kept this from a 5 star read is that this wasn’t quite dark enough for me and sometimes the love story was a bit too sweet. That’s more of a personal preference vs. anything wrong with the book. I highly recommend and I can’t wait to see who is next!!

Unfortunately, I lost interest around the half way point. Hex was a just a bit too perfect and Corliss’ life was just a bit too OTT messed up. It was all just too much. Then the book just became a fuck fest and everything was fantastic and lots of “I fucking love you so much babe” aaaand… I was skimming.

Whiskey Shivers is part of the Voodoo Bastards MC series by A.J. Downey and focuses on the characters Corliss and Hex. Corliss is a High School teacher who has had a rough upbringing, but that hasn’t stopped her being a ray of sunshine and the best she can be. She knows Hex as the custodian at school and they fast become friends, with some attraction thrown in. When something unspeakable happens to Corliss at school, Hex steps up and protects her, making sure that she knows that she’s his priority and that he’ll do anything to keep her safe!
I really enjoyed the relationship that Hex and Cor had in this story and how Cor kept her head held high, no matter what was thrown at her. It wasn’t quite as dark a read as the first book in this series, but there were still some small elements of darkness that popped up. The story is based heavily on Hex and Cor’s relationship and how it strengthens over time. Hex is a really sweet guy and we see that through the pages of the book. Yes, he’s in an MC and does some questionable things, but the one thing you can’t question is his love for Cor.
Throw in a great brotherhood, some spice and a bit of revenge and you’ve got a great story with some memorable characters. I can’t wait to read more in this series!

I did not love this book like I did when reading La Croix's story.
There seemed to be too much unfinished and the reason it feels that way is because nothing from the last book was brought up, like the crazy fall out from the political scandal and suicide. Granted, everything there was tied up nicely in that book.
This book there is still the wonky situation with the Bayou MC, the final outcome of the settlement, how Hex's firing would play into all that.
I will read the next book because I feel so invested (plus there is only one more).. but I am not as excited as I was when I began this series.

I am totally in love with the Voodoo Bastards MC. I'll admit Hex made me a little uneasy sometimes before but his true character came through in this story. There were many trials for him and Corliss but their love came through and held steady. I am very much looking forward to the next book in this well written, fascinating and fantastic series.

This book like the first one is filled to the brim with excitement, dark horror and so many deep emotions. Hex is a sweet yet very scary man and I like that, I like his core of honor and his unflinching strength to do what needed to be Done. Cor is the perfect woman for a man like him, as honorable and honest as he is love them together they fit perfectly.

Loved the story and the two main characters as well as the MC crew. It is this MC band of brothers that have captured me to this series. In this book, we find out how and why they began testing recipes for their future distilling business. It is a lovely story and it was great to get to know HEX better as he finds his mate. Highly recommend.

Fantastic Read!!!
The way these 2 become friends is amazing!!! The way he finally claims her as his comes on the tail end of a horrific life event.
Hex and Cor are an incredible couple - their love is absolutely amazing. Intrigue, MC drama and a little vengeance sprinkled amongst super spicy stuff. Fantastic read!!! I LOVED it!

Love The Voodoo Bastards
A.J. Downey did not disappoint with Hex and Corliss story. I did not put this book down until I finished. An engaging story of lust, heartbreak, trust, hot sex, love and some sexy bad ass bikers!

Over too soon!
I really enjoy this author's writing style. The characters are written with heart and the stories are centered more on the development of the character's love stories. There's some drama, but it's not extremely violent and the resulting aftermath is handled well.

Loved it
A bit different, more of romance and less MC, but no less good. Lots of emotional issues and a bit of action included. Good characters and plot. Looking forward to more of this series. Keep them coming.

The VP and teacher
Hex is vp of the club and the high school janitor. He makes friends with the English teacher and saves her when trouble come. This is a very moving story and a great addition to this series.

Hex not only comes to her rescue, but is there for her when she needed someone the most. The brothers are dark, sweet and charming, vengeful when it's called for, love to get on each other for everything and treat their brothers women with the utmost respect. I can't wait to see who falls next, what's happening with going more legit and who's next to find their women.
