My name is Inez Garner. I’m a vampire princess, champion of our Goddess, Aether, and savior for those who have endured the apocalypse so far. I’ve accepted that. It even sounds impressive… Until you add the rest. Three of my four marriages have failed. I’m in love with a fifth man who doesn’t know if I’m worth loving. My mental, emotional, and physical health all broke at the same time, and the recovery has to be slow. And I’m probably the most hunted woman on the planet, especially by a God and His minions. Now it’s not impressive and mostly depressing. So, I’m fixing my life where I can. We can’t stop all of the chaos, but I am the boss, and I’m going to limit what I can… Right after I save some more people and add to our overflowing plates. Oh, and take on another princess. At least we finally get to use the fighter jets. Someday, I will be in one if it’s the last thing I do. But even among all of that, Kristof loves me and I’m not alone. He sees me and some of the mistakes he’s made. I’m not the only one exhausted and ready for the apocalypse to be over, right?
House of Garner is an apocalyptic, hot burning, WhyChoose romance with darker elements, strong language, violence, and a heroine who doesn’t let anyone get in her way.
*This book is part of a series and cannot be read as a standalone. Like all my books, this is not light and fluffy and includes dark themes and events some may find triggering. Reader discretion is advised.
Erin is a born Chicagoan who decided to state hop a bit, given she works from home. She currently resides in Georgia with her pup, Lord Vader Flynn. With an eclectic and addictive personality, there isn’t much that doesn’t interest her or she won’t pour herself into if it catches her fancy. She has always been interested in the darker aspects of life and mythologies—especially vampires, shifters, the occult, and anything paranormal.
To date, she has published more paranormal books than she can keep up with the characters for, in different genres with dedicated readers who await each release to her numerous series under any of the three Flynn names she writes.
I will not be reading anymore in this series. I loved Inez in the first couple of books. I loved her Husbands and the potential for more. Then Darius had an issue with something and didn’t handle it the way she wanted him to and it just spiraled from there. Then Jaxson and Cedric and lastly James. I just can’t read it when these men that absolutely love this woman beg to be loved back and she just whines and cry’s saying how she doesn’t know if she can trust them. She is the only one whom can have issues and be under pressure and handle things wrong. I feel so bad for Darius she acts like he tried to sleep with someone else or left the Coven when he had issues and tried to deal with them the only way he knew how. He has apologized and she still won’t even look at him. It’s just gotten ridiculous and made me dislike Inez. Jaxson tried to do something sweet and it back fires (at least he is trying) she gets pissed and lets James (who wasJust talking to another women last week) speak to her Husband like he is a POS. When not one of her husbands would even entertain another woman. Cedric… he literally has had the most important people in his family, besides his mother do something really crappy to him or someone he loves, and he didn’t react the way she thought he should so she’s cut him out of her life I just don’t get it. I was really enjoying this series I just wish it wouldn’t have gotten so off track. Inez as a bad a$$ leader who would stand up and defend the men she loves is so much better than this girl who is whiny and spoiled brat that is the only one with trauma response or issues. I am done now sorry I really do love this Author I am just not happy with the direction she took the story.
will probably pause until it’s all done, if it’s all done
I’ll probably go back and add stars when I’m less annoyed. For some reason I’m really noticing the writing style now. And not in good way, the use of crazy or the all the crazy are taking me out.
Also the flinching, and the fact she had no sense of humor or doesn’t match up with any other characters humor if they laugh and she doesn’t get it, she’s annoyed and they feel like they have to apologize.
A lot more thoughts could be added on other issues but it’s 2:30am
Then there’s the ending. I downloaded the book the day it released but couldn’t build up desire to read it till Tuesday and had to reallllly push through it, and we get to the end don’t get actual details, just a glossing over. Which felt like the whole book was a waste of my time.
I just kept thinking how many more of this will there be?
This was in my top three of the series and I didn’t realize till I was lost in this book that I skipped through the previous one. I want to see the author do well so I’ll keep going but it’s going to be struggle probably
Lastly I have had enough of her memory loss and it being her biggest character trait now. She used to be so coool, now they just talk about it
I had a hard time getting back into this one, which to be honest is a criticism of the author more than the book/series itself. It is incredibly frustrating to feel like you need to reread half a dozen (or with some of her series over a dozen!) books to understand what’s going on in a new release because it’s taken such a long time. On the one hand, I respect that one of the benefits of being an indie author is having the freedom to work on projects as inspiration strikes and to have full control over the plot. On the other hand, it is not a great experience as a reader to have no idea what’s coming next or when, and waiting sometimes *years* with no update.
I’m a fan of the author overall. But please, I beg of her, at least give us a more complete synopsis of previous books to start. Hit the major points. Remind us of key character names. Do something to ease our transition into action that we have poorly remembered background for. What is there now is simply not enough.
A couple of years ago something must have happened in the author’s personal life. All of her books started to really focus on emotional issues and started to have more and more and longer and longer rants/tirades. It’s like the author took an Ayn Rand workshop. Some of the emotional issues seemed blown out of proportion. There no longer seemed to be a plot and/or action. Fortunately this book was better than books the author has put out in the past 2-3 years (for all of her series). It still had some of the things I previously mentioned but the book wasn’t just a long tirade of emotional and/or feelings.
I was legitimately looking forward to any and all books from this author and yet at the same time I kept asking myself why! All of her books across all of her series are different versions of the same thing.
In fact it really seems like Kristoff = Darby and Darius = Craftsman
★★★★★ – My Favourite Erin Flynn Series, Hands Down
I absolutely love the House of Garner series. From book one all the way through book nine, Inez’s journey had me hooked. Normally anything apocalyptic - especially with zombies, would have me running the other direction, but this series is the exception. It’s brilliant, unique, and easily my favourite Flynn series (and yes, I’ve read almost everything - Artemis, I’m coming for you eventually!).
This deserves a long review because it’s just that good. The worldbuilding, the massive harem, the emotional stakes, the humour - everything works. Inez is relatable, flawed, resilient, and genuinely inspiring. She falls, grows, gets back up, and keeps fighting. She’s an absolute powerhouse of a heroine.
Also, Erin… please, I am begging: give us character glossaries. With the number of characters, species, powers, family lines, and love interests, we need a directory - especially in a long-running series. Even a website glossary would help your fans so much.
The Men (So Far) Darius – The first, and still one of the best. He’s young by immortal standards, carrying his own trauma, and he tries so hard. He deserves happiness with Inez, and I hope he’s still around thriving at the end.
Jaxon – Love his mom, but Jaxon himself needs a lot of growth. The potential is there, but he’s not my favourite.
Kristoff – A standout! His growth has been incredible, and I’m loving the daddy/breeding-kink energy he brings. More ancient vampires in this harem, please.
Cerdic – Still on the fence. He’s fine, but his family? Yikes. I’m hoping for a redemption arc - and maybe that twin scene readers are thirsting for.
Branko – He faded into the background for a while, but now that he’s back, I’m excited again. His backstory and his mom are going to be wild, I can feel it.
James – Did not love his special scenes or his behaviour. He feels unreliable, and the “what if he finds his destined mate?” question hangs over everything. Not my pick.
The Men Who Are (Hopefully) Joining Sisay – Friend-zoned and trying so hard to escape it. I want more for him. His friendship with Inez deserves to grow into something bigger.
Petre – My second-favourite ancient vampire. A great character, though I wasn’t thrilled about the moment with Lara. Still, I want many more scenes with him.
Vitor – My favourite ancient vampire. He’s powerful, old, fascinating, and gives off the best energy. Also I’m loving the daddy/breeding-kink energy he brings too. I need his backstory, his nationality, everything. More Vitor!
Tian – He absolutely needs to join the harem. The potential is huge, the vibes immaculate, and his story is going to break hearts. And yes, that bite scene… iconic.
Moon – Needs more page time. His connection with Inez felt important early on, but it hasn’t gone anywhere yet. Hoping for more development and clarity.
The Wishlist Men (A girl can dream!)
Vance – What happened here? He had such strong momentum, then James swooped in and took over. Vance deserves better.
Tyson – Rooted for him early on, and his dynamics with Inez were stronger than James’s ever were. Would definitely welcome him into the harem.
CeAwlin – He’s coming, we all know it, and the twin scene potential is there! Give it to us! Give him more screen time!
Sundar – He called her “My Princess.” He said it. He’s already falling, and he deserves happiness after everything he endured. I want him in Inez’s life permanently, there is just something special about him.
Final Thoughts I adore this series. The FMC, the MMCs, the villains, the world, the lore - everything works together beautifully. It’s emotional, action-packed, funny, sexy, and full of heart. I cannot wait for more.
5/5 stars. Absolutely amazing.

This series started off incredibly strong but then somewhere around book 5/6 everything changed.
The first part of this series was so amazing that I have re-read the first few books multiple times. The rest I have to force myself to continue. I finally DNF at 30% in this one and am officially giving up on the series as a whole.
Lately the books are nothing but filler with maybe one or two things that kinda further the plot along as a whole. Tons and tons of meaningless pages dedicated to food, buildings, clothes, job assignments, etc. some of that is great for world building and all that but it just keeps going and going and going. I have learned so much about building materials and food recipes. I didn’t download this series for a handyman course or recipe book.
I also now hate Inez. She started off relatable and fierce. Now she’s just bitchy and whiny with the emotional maturity of a pre-teen. This is something I’ve noticed about the FMC’s in all of this author’s books. She clearly hates men and views them as less than. In this series Inez is the ONLY one allowed to be stressed out and have emotions. When the guy’s get overwhelmed and their minds explode from trauma/stress or not fully understanding something and don’t handle it EXACTLY the way she thinks they should have she views it as the ultimate betrayal and it’s all their fault. Yet when she does the exact same thing (or worse) they are supposed to coddle her and be nothing but understanding. She is ALWAYS the innocent little victim and the men are idiots for not reading her mind. Even when she avoids/ignores them. She sounds like a manipulative gaslighting narcissist, honestly. I could go on and on about the unfairness but it pisses me off and I don’t want to spend more time writing about it.
Also, this is a vampire reverse harem. The spicy scenes are straight garbage. There is minimal detail and it’s over before we even blink. She finally has sex with a guy that’s been courting her for the first time and she starts an argument during. Completely ruined the moment (and of course it was HIS fault) he apologized. Eye roll. Then they continue and BAM, it’s over. Zero details other than he entered her, argument, didn’t bang her hard, came before she did but she liked that. Seriously, that’s it! This author wastes pages upon pages on nonsense details but skimps on the spicy parts. It’s over in like two short paragraphs.
I just don’t know how this series got so far off the rails from the absolute banging start it had. It’s actually depressing.
DNF (did not finish). What made the book unfinishable in your opinion? I am DONE. The emotional issues that the MC has and her relationship with her guys is just too much. I am tired of all of their drama. The MC freaked out about the posted notes that were being left for her. Like the guys would let a stalker anywhere near her? But she FREAKS out, when Jaxon is trying to make up for the BS he caused. It’s fine if she freaks out but the guys aren’t allowed to? That’s too one sided in my opinion. I understand that the MC is under a lot of pressure, so that doesn’t help. The characters in this book are not dealing with their mental health issues in a healthy fashion. MC admits she has a hard time saying what she wants… then gets mad a the guys for not knowing what she need. (They aren’t mind readers!) So much potential… Lack of glossary killed it for me. Remind me of a dnd game and not a novel. Series could have used some cutting down of some unimportant points (like building and layouts.) Overall, I liked the first part of the series, but now it seems like even the author doesn’t know where she is going with it. The thing that attracted me to the series in the first place are all gone… I stopped about halfway through and I won't be continuing this series.
And I want to start with I love you, Erin Flynns books. And this storyline is so cool and fun like all of her series in their own way they’re unique and have a amazing, strong female main characters. This is one of the series that I’ve waited the longest for new books in and I know that the author always says she would appreciate feedback to know what books people are waiting for, well lol this is definitely one of them. Unfortunately, I do have a little bit of a critique for this time. In your writing. I feel like too much of the book is focused on the main characters, romantic relationships, and how horrible her husbands have been I feel like there’s a lot of oh, they don’t talk to me and then when they try to I won’t listen, but then I say they don’t try. It’s just so much back-and-forth and repetitive redundancy and I was kind of disappointed. I will continue to read the series because I have faith in your writing and I’m one of your greatest supporters. I buy all of your books I’m just hoping that we can get back on track in the following books. Either way one of your greatest fans. Thank you for all your hard work. Looking forward to your next release.
I'm currently reading this book (49%) but wanted to leave this quick review to point out something I have noticed across all of the 7 books so far... there are a lot of inconsistencies with details about major characters and it really throws me off when I am reading. An example of this is James has been described as a lion shifter, a leopard shifter, and now a jaguar shifter on 3 different occasions across 3 or 4 different books. I would hope the editing would be done better so that a major character such as James has consistent information about his animal being provided to the reader. I tried to ignore it the first couple times but I'm just irked at this point. It's a glaring issue throughout the whole series.
Finally she’s definitely getting some wins and she deserves it! still super upset with Jackson but I’m pretty sure everyone is going to be he’s gonna need to do something real big to win her back. Kristof will always be my favorite And I’m glad he really stepped up to help her! I am so thankful for you as an author to get books out as fast as you do and I love every single one of your series, so if you need to keep things closer to your chest, then by all means do it! I love the surprise of not knowing what will be the next plus I really loved doing rereads of all the stories and so It just Gives me an excuse to do it again. Thank you for all that you do!

You are an excellent Teller of stories I wouldn't be bothered too much by people who don't seem to understand but I get the impression you don't understand either You need to look at the enchanters 1st book You are doing what she was watching it's an old tale from old legends You will do well and I hope to see more of your books in the stories of your soul may be all we can well And may the world trade you well I don't know what else To say but I enjoy it and I think that you will do well
For awhile it was one step forward and two steps back. This book is a bunch of steps forward for her romantic relationships. I really love seeing the growth and maturity exhibited. I do hope that she does continue to grow her group in whatever way Ms. Flynn feels is natural for her. I thought it wonderful to see her self confidence growth happen in this book. She’s turning from the victim into a badass in control Bitch. I love it!!!
I love this series and want more, but there were things I didn't like. I keep waiting for things to be right between Inez and all her husbands; and until it is they don't appear often or have a role. I miss the way it was between them originally. Also, there wasn't much action/smack down either, between groups or the two Champions. It has potential and I did enjoy it so have given it a three out of five.
I have read every book that I can find of Erin's work. I love all of the stories even i do get slightly annoyed and the word placement sometimes. They are fun reads and highlight the issues that happen in real life relationships of all styles. My only true compliant is I get to the end of each new book so fast that i am left salivating for the next. Erin R Flynn has a true talent.
I usually love this series, but it is taking far too long between books for the next one, and then when this one finally arrived, there was just no substance. Not much seemed to have happened at all. Hopefully, in prob about a year before the next one comes out, something will actually happen to make it an enjoyable book. All in all, i was really disappointed with this book after waiting so long for it to finally arrive.
It's been a while since we've had a House of Garner book. There wasn't a lot of recap but I was glad the book kept moving without a lot of backstory added.
It was great to see Inez still being a kickass princess. We've gotten glimpses of this new threat and I'm interested to see more of them.
It was worth the wait and I'm happy to see Erin pick this story up again. I'll be patiently waiting on the next installment!
I love that you are still working on this series! Especially with how you left it in the last book. Thanks again so much and I really hope Inez can get back with the others 🤞 I'm also happy to see some POV from some of the others, however I would really love to see a bit from Tian and why he's always sighing 😁
I love Inez’s books, but this one is one of my favorites. I loved how she is speaking up and letting people know what she does and doesn’t like. While sometimes she seems to overreact, once she explains it you understand why she acted like she did. Can’t wait for the next one! Thank you Erin for another great book.
I will admit I have a hard time choosing which book series by this author to reread because I love her other series so much. I am so glad we got this next chapter in Inez’s story though and landed on a brighter note at the end. Can’t wait for the next one!
This book was good. I was glad that Inez is getting some stability for herself and the coven. I really hope some of her relationships progress next book. Like the evil twin. I would love to see his redemption love story. As always, I look forward to the next installment.
I finished the series up to book seven and turned around and read them all again. I love the journey and the very real emotions the characters are experiencing. They’re relatable and their struggles are just as compelling as their victories. I can’t wait to see where their new challenges bring them. Patiently impatient for the next installment!
Inez is working to get back on track and recover. After learning that Erebus has a champion, much like she is Aether’s, she starts to do what she does best. Plan. Find loopholes. And deal with psychos that think their worth is too much. I’m glad she and the guys are slowly recovering. Especially that it’s slow. It feels more real and that it may last that way.
I have loved this series but was getting a little tired of the latter books all having the guys be idiots. It was refreshing to see them start to find a path towards healing.
So here we are again Erin has taken and made a world with her words that pulls you in and makes you feel like it's your world. Inez is amazing in her growth and strength in know that what she needs and what she doesn't. Can't wait for more of Erin's worlds.
Love, love, love Inez. But then I enjoy all of Erin's books. It is nice to reread then dive into the new book. Love the dialogue and action. Good book cannot wait for new fun!
As always an amazing book. I love that Inez is getting stronger in herself and what she wants. Also the new big bad was introduced. I can't wait for what this new bad will do.
I was so excited to see the next book in this series come out. I binge read the others and then worried about Inez. I enjoy everything Erin Flynn puts out and really appreciate her different worlds.
