THE TIES THAT BIND The fight with Bishamon is over and it's time for Yato to tie up some loose ends -- or cut ties with Hiyori, as he promised Tenjin. But a nameless god like Yato can't survive unles he remains in someone's memory. How will he manage once he is removed from Hiyori's life?
reread-- it's been so long since i've read noragami, and i just love this series so much. it's amazing to get to read the volumes one after another in a few sittings.
yato's tragic backstory arc. the hero's journey into the underworld as therapy. i like the move away from hiyori's perspective to yato because god stuff is just more interesting than high school. yato/hiyori relationship development is nice for them but i'm never gonna be fully into it. what's more interesting is yato's overall development from someone who was created and groomed to exist on the outskirts of civil/moral society and is going to have a difficult time walking some fine lines if he wants to maintain relationships and be brought into a community. ebisu's a foil to yato in that he's part of the in-group of the major gods but rejects convention and propriety. i hope we get more god politics going forward.
There's drama, action and a sense of mischief brewing beneath it all. I'm going to repeat this a lot but damn I love this series so much. With each volume it feels like the storytelling and plot just get better and even the drawings themselves feel more solid and clear in a way. Having the larger cast of Gods finally make an appearance as well just adds a whole other sense of intrigue into the world. Phenomenal.
4.5 - This one was good. It got a little confusing at moments but I’m taking it as answers to come. I loved the part where Hiyori gives Yato a shrine. I’m liking Yukine and his development as well as the changing dynamic between Yato and Bishamon. I think everything with Ebisu, Yato’s “father”, and the whole divine council thing confused me. Idk what was going on with the children idk idk.

I loved everything about this omnibus. The fight scenes and the emotions for these characters. You either hate some of these characters or love them. I’m so obsessed. Ugh just amazing 🤩 😊☺️
