Private Exhibit: A Gay Daddy Romance

Rate this book
A grieving doctor. A lonely, dying boy. Can love cure them both before it's too late?

Dr. Anderson Gerard couldn't save his own son from a rare genetic disease. Weighed down by the guilt of that failure, Andy gives up his glittering career and consigns himself to working in the morgue, where he spends time with the ghost of his son and helps other ghosts come to terms with their death. He's not worthy of love, but when a sweet, shy boy enters his life, Andy can't resist the temptation.

Devon Campbell was unwanted from the day he was born. A rare disease kept him from getting adopted as a baby and has wreaked havoc on his life ever since. When he meets Andy, he thinks he might finally have a chance at love.

But Andy's son is not happy about the relationship. And when Andy finds out Devon has the same disease that took his son, he knows he can't survive that kind of heartbreak again.

Will fear keep them apart? Or will they fight for their Happily Ever After?

Private Exhibit is the fourth book in the Gentleman Hackers series. It features a frail trans boy with a secret desire, a doctor daddy full of heartbreak and guilt, plenty of hurt/comfort healing, and an HEA ending. And mirrors are about to become Devon's new favorite thing.

G.R. Lyons stumbled into writing as a form of trauma recovery when traditional therapy wasn't working.

Then the story ideas just kept on coming.

Pulling from a vivid imagination as well as real-life experience as a trans man, a sexual assault survivor, and a person living with mental illness, Lyons has written multiple, interconnected series set within his fictional world of the Shifting Isles.

When not writing, Lyons can be found belly dancing around the house, studying anarcho-capitalist philosophy, buried in his never-ending TBR pile, or working out at the local CrossFit gym.

Dr. Anderson Gerard, broken by the death of his son from a rare disease, retreats to the morgue—where he communes with ghosts and avoids the living. But when Devon Campbell, a gentle young man with the same illness, enters his life, Andy is drawn to the possibility of love he thought he’d buried forever. Devon, abandoned and dying, sees in Andy a final hope for connection. Yet their bond is shadowed by grief, guilt, and the ghost of Andy’s son, who resents their growing closeness. As the past threatens to repeat itself, Andy must decide: will he risk another heartbreak, or embrace the love that might heal them both?

I loved this story with the three themes of grief, redemption and the supernatural. This was a very emotional story which will make you cry. There were a few surprises in the story and the feelings of love between Devon and Andy as well as between Devon and his friends felt very real. I loved the supernatural aspects of the story and only wish that it is possible in real life. This was an MM story with mature content.
