Beth Moore has written many best–selling books and is a dynamic teacher and a prolific Bible–study author whose public speaking engagements take her across the United States to challenge tens of thousands. Beth is focused on teaching women all over the world and is known and respected wherever she goes. She is a dedicated wife and mother of two adult daughters and lives in Houston, Texas, where she leads Living Proof Ministries and teaches an adult Sunday school class. Beth is one of the best known women in the evangelical Christian market.
Having done the Breaking Free Study several years ago, and read Beth Moore's book Praying God's Word multiple times, this was a good refresher for me of her main points. But for those who haven't experienced either of those works, this would be a simple introduction that would only skim the surface. The homework took about 15 minutes a day. So, if you're looking for a study that only spans 6 weeks, has minimal homework, and doesn't get too involved, this would be good choice. Oh, and there's no DVD messages to watch with it.
Such. Good bible study and really helpful in seeing the importance of praying God's word. It helped me work through some belief issues and trust issues.
Beth Moore addresses the power of strongholds in our lives and urges us to live in greater freedom through the Lord. She does so by walking you through five benefits of walking with God and encouraging Biblical study each day. This study helped me stay in the word during a dry spell in my spiritual walk. Personally, I would have preferred a little more unpacking of scripture and historical context around the topics covered. Overall, though, good study.
Although I've just signed on to Good Reads today and have listed 86 read books, this is my first review. This book was life-changing for my prayer life as I've struggled for a long time with HOW to pray. Author Beth Moore provides suggestions for a possible structure for a personal prayer time. She has tied this together with five benefits to being a Christian mentioned in "Breaking Free" and teaches the reader how to pray God's word in order to live a life of freedom in Christ. If you're looking for a practical, meaty, life-changing book on prayer, this is it.
A great summer study. I often find it hard to stick with one during the summer and this one gave great tips and plenty of practice in praying His word. I also find prayer challenging b/c if He knows what you're going to say anyway, then why do it. This study gave great examples of its benefits and applications. I am looking forward to my BSF study during the school year for its depth and accountability, but this was a great one to do on my own.
This was the first Beth Moore study I ever did and it was wonderful! I loved it and how it drew me closer in my walk to God. I have since then done this study two more times. Once leading a group of youth girls and another with a women's small group. A great place to start with those just getting into a bible study for the first time!
Excellent 6 week study on learning to pray God's Word, praying scripture, learning about 5 key benefits God intends for us. Replace false strongholds & reliance on idols with true freedom in Jesus. It's a short book, easy to follow and understand.
Took me awhile to really get into the study because I was doing it by myself and had to hold myself accountable...which really didn't work that well at first. However, I picked it back up and am so glad I did.

What a great book to show you how to use the two best tools that we have: God's Word and prayer. Put the two together and you have one big mighty tool!
I hesitated how to rate this book. First off, I love Beth Moore. She is so passionate and knowledgeable about Jesus. Secondly, as a Bible study leader this workbook really generated some great conversations among our group. It worked extremely well as a discussion starter--in that regard I'd rate it a five star study for sure.
However, this book and the videos that went with it didn't always fit. I know that two previous Beth Moore books were blended to create this study, but sometimes you could tell. There were parts that didn't seem to flow, and some parts that didn't quite make sense. This wasn't just me, this was the general consensus of our group of women who are a variety of ages, life stages, and pursuit of their faith. The videos -- although inspiring and thought provoking slivers of Beth Moore's teaching--rarely coincided with the lessons. Our group would look at each other, like, "what?" We had to reach to see how they had anything to do with the content we'd just spent an hour discussing. The videos were also small slices of larger teachings, thus sometimes lacking the context or depth that the whole video would have provided, which was a shame.
So again, sorry for a very disjointed review. Great discussions, good topics and insights. Beth's teachings in her videos were also fantastic. But I would advise other Bible study leaders to get either of or both of the original Beth Moore studies instead of this combo.
This was a good, short study compared to what we are used to with Beth Moore. This study was taken from a bigger study of hers and slimmed down in smaller portions... even the videos which are clips 10 minutes or less from her larger videos. Sometimes, at least for me, the videos didn't quite line up with the content from the week but it was a good message anyway. I appreciated the focus and diving into praying Scriptures, which I have struggled with doing and understanding. I would recommend this for a summer study but I wonder that the larger one, Breaking Free, would give much more.
