Victoria Connelly grew up in Norfolk before attending Worcester College where she studied English Literature. After graduating, she worked her way through a number of jobs before becoming a teacher in North Yorkshire.

In 2000, she got married in a medieval castle in the Yorkshire Dales and moved to London. Five weeks after their wedding, her husband, a television news cameraman, was sent to Israel. Convinced something terrible would happen to him, she came up with the idea for a novel about a young widow who starts seeing angels on her desk at work, but was scared to write it in case she tempted fate. It was only years later that her husband admitted to having a bullet graze his shirt sleeve whilst filming in Israel!

Although having had articles and short stories published, it was only when Flights of Angels was published that Victoria was able to realise the dream of becoming a professional writer. Published as Unter deinem Stern in Germany, the novel was made into a film for television by award-winning Ziegler Film. Her second novel, The Unmasking of Elena Montella (Wenn es dich gibt), was published in 2007 and her third, Three Graces (Wohin mit der Liebe), was published in 2009. All three magical romantic comedies are now available as ebooks.

Her first novel to be published in the UK – Molly’s Millions – came out in 2009. This was followed by a trilogy about Jane Austen addicts: A Weekend with Mr Darcy, The Perfect Hero (US title: Dreaming of Mr Darcy) and Mr Darcy Forever.

The Runaway Actress was published in April 2012 and she is currently working on another romantic comedy, Wish You Were Here.

I have read and enjoyed several of Victoria's books and was looking forward to this quick read on my kindle. Fanciful, comedic and a crazy storyline, added to a leading lady I couldn't stand and her annoying magic mask. A spell for disaster surely? and yet I wanted to keep reading, though I couldn't work out why. Perhaps it was the manic of Venice? Whatever the reason, I'm glad I finished the book. not sure I would go so far as to recommend it to friends and family as they will think I've gone mad! Oh, and shame about the lack of a proof reader.

A little far fetched

Really enjoy victoria connelly's novels, although I found some aspects of the story a little too fictional!
I do love the writing style though so will read more by this author.

This was not as good as the other books by Victoria Connelly that I have read. It is an early novel from her, and it shows. There are a lot of small inconsistencies in the text, but overall I liked the story.

Venice mask

The story is fascinating as Elena used a vanishing mask to make her aware of her need to love again.

Absolutely LOVED IT. A wonderfully magical & bewitching book.

This is such a great story of one sister, Elena, who runs off to stay with her younger sister, Rosanna, who lives in Venice, when she doesn't know what to do with her three fiancés. Yes, three.

Mayhem ensues when they all follow her there.

Great characters, fast-paced story and sprinkled with some of the magic you feel sure exists in Venice. This is a terrific story about how running away isn't always the easiest way to find your way home.

Liked this one less than previous ones I have read by this author. One or two typos (spellchecker presumably substituted incorrect words) I didn't like the heroine & was rooting for her to be abandoned by all the men that she cheated.

A very confused young woman with three fiancees.

She travels to Venice to sort out her problems and the three men who want to marry her follow. A little bit of magic to do with a mask. And she has to figure it all out. Which man will she choose?

Silly frippery

Best for light hearted romantics... well written but found main character too frustrating for my tastes and this spoiled my enjoyment
