Raven's romance with her dreamy vampire boyfriend, Alexander, has been complicated once again by Alexander's menacing half-vamp cousin. Raven's family and friends could be in danger. When Claude teams up with Raven's longtime nemesis, Trevor, invitations soon go out for a vampire-themed masquerade party. Before I took pen to paper, I was an actress. I attended a local university majoring in theatre and spent a summer in London at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts where I learned about the “Old Bard” from amazingly talented teachers.

When I returned from London, I relocated to Chicago where I lived for five years. There, I graduated from the Second City Training Center and performed improv, Shakespeare, comedies and dramas--I even sang and danced on a cruise boat--without falling in Lake Michigan! A classmate of mine from Second City and I created and performed a two woman show for a year before I braved it alone doing stand-up comedy. It was during this time I began to write an adult novel about a rock star--I had always enjoyed writing...

Fast forward a couple of years along with a move home where I was performing “stand-up” at comedy clubs in the area. On a plane to LA to decide my fate-- “to move to LA or not to move to LA” that is the question, my big bro, Mark, coincidentally with the same last name as mine (author of PRINCES IN EXILE, DREAMS OF THE SOLO TRAPEZE and STARCROSSED) handed me a young adult book he found at the library he thought I’d like to read during the flight.

As I read the book, I thought, ‘I can do this!’

I returned from LA, and instead of moving there, I wrote my story about the rock star as a young adult novel and called it JOHNNY LIGHTNING.
Mark, my writing mentor, edited JL for me. He was kind enough to send the manuscript to his publisher in Belgium--Facet--and they published it! In Dutch!

I was now on a new life path!

In 2001 HarperCollins made me an offer I couldn’t refuse! Not only was HarperCollins going to publish TEENAGE MERMAID, but it was in a language I could read and book stores I could walk into! HarperCollins also bought VAMPIRE KISSES and COMEDY GIRL.

It was a dream come true!

Since beginning my new life path, VAMPIRE KISSES, TEENAGE MERMAID, and MY MOTHER, THE CLOWN have been published by Facet in Belgium and JOHNNY LIGHTNING has been published in Germany by Ravensburger.

Then my fabulous editor at HarperCollins asked me for a sequel to VAMPIRE KISSES!
HarperCollins published VAMPIRE KISSES 2--KISSING COFFINS and now the soon to be released VAMPIRE KISSES 3--VAMPIREVILLE. I am currently writing VAMPIRE KISSES 4!

When I'm not writing about the love affair between vampire obsessed, goth girl Raven and my favorite mysterious dark-eyed hottie, Alexander Sterling, I enjoy working on my other novels, shopping for Hello Kitty items, and attempting to gain control of the remote from my boyfriend.

Much more true to the book series, but there were some contradictions from the previous manga and also the conclusion??? What the fuck was that?? (Not in a good way)

This is about a girl named Raven and she has a boyfriend which is a vampire. They both try to defeat the vampires brother because the brother is planning to make everyone at there high school into vampires. I think this is a good book because the main characters have a cute relationship. They stick together all the way. I would change how the students should become all vampires and then in the next book they should discuss and try to turn them back into humans.

📘 Vampire Kisses: Blood Relatives, Vol. 3 by Ellen Schreiber
⭐ Rating: 4/5 🗝️💋🦇

📖 Summary:
Raven is DONE playing nice.
Claude has pushed too far, and now it’s not just Alexander’s legacy on the line — it’s everything Raven’s come to care about.
This volume brings the final showdown, full of spooky drama, midnight tension, and just enough eyeliner to kill.

Expect:

🧛 A high-stakes confrontation between Alexander and Claude

🖤 Raven getting her final girl moment and proving once again she’s not just a damsel in black lace

💔 A few trust issues lingering, but love wins out in the end

⚰️ A satisfying (and fashionably dramatic) conclusion to the trilogy

This one’s faster-paced than the first two, with more action, bigger emotional moments, and that classic YA graphic novel closure energy.

💖 Character Reactions:

🕯️ Raven — Still goth, still fierce, and more determined than ever.
She stands up not just for love, but for herself. Her “don’t mess with what’s mine” energy? Chef’s kiss.

🎨 Alexander — The tortured vamp boyfriend steps up with full protective mode, but still lets Raven take the lead when it counts. Growth!

💀 Claude — Fully spiraled. Campy evil. Deserves every bit of Raven’s combat boot to the chest.

🎨 Art & Vibes:

Shadowy, dramatic, and full of final battle flair

Think: black roses, lightning in the background, and one perfect vampire tear drop

Manga-style continues to serve goth fantasy realness

🔥 Smut Level:
Zero spice, but maximum romantic payoff.
The kiss at the end? 💋 So much eyeliner. So many feelings.

⚠️ Trigger Warnings:
Vampire violence (comic-style), emotional manipulation, sibling rivalry gone wild, dramatic rescue moments

REVIEWING THIS AS A NON-FAN

The sudden jump from the intense ending of volume 2 to the relatively serene yet somber beginning here is definitely not helped by the change in illustrator. It takes getting used to and I'm unsure why there was a change, but Elisa Kwon carries on some of the strengths that Rem established. The masquerade is fun, especially with the outfits, but it's like everyone disappears by the time Raven and Alexander are rescued. We don't see any of the partygoers after the two are freed from the coffin, which definitely raises questions about characters like Trevor.

It's still a fun read overall, just like the ones before it in the trilogy. Didn't go out with a bang, but it's certainly not a whimper either.

This is the third and final book in the sub-series of Vampire Kisses: Blood Relatives. After Raven leaves her journal out, Claude finds out that the vials him and his gang have taken are actually fakes and swears vengeance. Raven and Alexander are desperately trying to find a way to get Claude out of town before he hurts anyone, especially now that Claude seems to have gone a bit insane with anger. Then out of the blue, Trevor, the forever enemy, announces that he is throwing a huge goth-themed party and invites the whole school. Alexander and Raven have to think and act quickly if they are going to protect everyone they love.

*Read as part of the 25 Days of Manga challenge for December 2020.*

I'm glad that I can finally say I've completely read this mini-series, and honestly, while the rising action, climax and ending felt just a little rushed, I still enjoyed it. This had such an unexpectedly not-quite-happy-but-definitely-positive ending, and while normally I might quibble, I think it worked here, for what it was and what this series is. I'll definitely be keeping these to re-read in the future. Will I pick up that single volume of the Graveyard Games? Most likely. Will I eventually pick up the actual novels this series is a spin-off from? I'm not sure yet, but I won't count myself against it.

Trying to stop Claude and his gang from getting the blood vials and becoming full vampires is proving harder and harder for Alexander and Raven. Claude found Raven's journal and now knows the truth of their plan to trick him. Claude isn't giving up, he's still looking for the real map but so are Alexander and Raven. Who will find out where the vials are hidden first? When a Vampire party is announced at school everyone is excited and the whole school is going vampire crazy getting dressed up and ready for the party. Alexander and Raven believe Claude is behind this party idea and they fear that something horrible is about to happen.

The art was as good as ever but the story wrapped up quickly. If you want the rest of the story, you'll have to switch from the graphic novels back to the original book series.

*spoilers*

Raven is still a human at the end of the story but Alexander's Romanian cousins become full vampires.
The "trick" used in volume 2 to fool them was pretty good in volume 2, but the plots here are kind of...lame. I wish the bad guys had come up with a plot half as good. But the masquerade party did give the artist a reason to draw a lot of goth clothes. Becky and Matt was super cute!

In all I give this series a 3 1/2 stars
The first one was very cute and cheesy I really enjoyed it.
The second one was awesome I think it set up everything amazingly!
But the 3rd and final one was really really great until the end, I really thought the ending was lacking a lot
Don’t get me wrong it’s a cute series but that damn ending kinda ruined it for me.

One thing I will say is the art work is amazing!!!! Perfect!!! And beautiful!!!

It had big incoherences to the previous volumes, the art downgrade was significant and kept getting my attention because of some really weird looking panels and face expressions, and it just seemed like less of an effort and work altogether. Wasn't really well put I think?

This is a cute and heartwarming story and the drawings are beautiful.

It feels good to find great books that I thoroughly enjoy reading. I forgot what it felt like for a bit. Thank you for the team who worked on the serie. I wish you great health and happiness.

A three part series that felt like it was written by a teenager who loved twilight and scene-core era things. Poorly written, bad plot, meh ending. The only thing i like is the character designs/art.

An amazing ending! It was a 50/50 chance of an ending, and I love how the story came together with the family history and the love between Raven and Alexandar, is so beautiful.

Další pokračování Upířích polibků. Nádherný příběh a k tomu pěkně nakreslená manga. Raven a Alexandr jsou spolu naprosto úchvatný i když netradičný pár. Hlavně Becky mě pobavila.;D
