This book, though very dated (1973) medically and socially (wives in the kitchen, etc.) had some information that was very helpful for my family in regard to my father's stroke that left him unable to speak. The most important point, reiterated in detail over and over, was the overwhelming fatigue that aphasia creates. Working so hard to understand words, find the appropriate words, and speak or write them is exhausting to the aphasic. Only pacing oneself and taking time out for rest will allow ...more
