Dark River Days #4

Seductively Undead in Dark River

Rate this book
Twenty years has passed since Raine Baxter became the leader of the a weird mish-mash of supernaturals. Twenty years in which she raised a family, protected her new citizens, and was completely cherished by the men who gave her their love. Raine should be happy. And she was, deliriously so.
Except one small thing.
She didn't want to be a leader. She didn't want to wear the mantle of responsibility and have control over the fates and lives of others. She wanted to bake cupcakes and have copious Big O's. She wanted to stay in Dark River with her friends and her lovers, instead of jet setting all over the world, putting out political fires and rescuing creatures that stretched her very imagination.
The Convocation said she could quit if she found someone strong enough to replace her, and there was only one creature that was on anyone's lips; The Night Demon.
Hiding in the shadow's of Amsterdam, Raine and her guys were going to find him and put a crown on his head so they could finally start their Happily Ever After.
But nothing ever truly goes to plan, especially not when your name is Raine Baxter...

When I was nine, my grandmother and her friends used to read and swap Harlequin Mills and Boons novels. When I was busted reading one, they started sneaking me boxes full of strong heroines and rugged men. Thus started a long love affair with the romance genre.

Then I discovered urban fantasy, and fell in love with broody Alphas and sexy paranormals, and combining them together was a no brainer.

Then I discovered Reverse Harem.... Oh my. Why choose, am I right?

Not enough smut. Not enough plot. What was the point? 😩

3,5 stars for the whole series. I enjoyed the first and second books a lot, the third was alright too, though there was a LOT of drama and the ending was really lackluster.

Things that I liked:
- Raine, or Mika. She was an entertaining character, and took all that happened to her like a brave girl. Also, she has zero self preservation, lol. It was interesting to see the way a modern, young girl (she's only 19 when she dies!) interacts with the old as dirt vamps.
- I liked some of the harem. My fav were Brody and Tex, they were just so nice and loved Raine for her. I liked the vamps too.
- The plot at the beginning was interesting.

Things I didn't like:
-One pet peeve of mine: when the males loved someone else in the past. It's even worse when they didn't even talk about it with Raine, which I felt was necessary because it's normal to talk about past relationships with your partners, especially when they were somewhat important to you.
- I didn't really feel there was development in some of the relationships. One thing that I wanted to see more in RH is the people dating. I love slow burns for that reason, but the slow burn aspects here were meh because there was NO development, mainly with the vampires.

It bothered me a lot that Judge was the first Raine had any relationship with, besides Tex, and there was a part where they start discussing their relationship status and Judge refuses to talk to her and leaves, and there's that. They go back to that waaaaay later. It was the same with X, I mean what the heck do we know about him besides the bare minimum? Oh he's a psycho, he likes murdering people and Shibari. He was in love with Miranda (and there was no closure here either), then he also wanted Judge??? A hot mess.

What about Nico? Lucius? The fact that Walker had an obvious relationship with another woman previous to Raine and he never mentions it? Was she the reason why he took so long to make a move? Was it something else? WHAT?

And then the harem kept on growing, gosh. The last book I just skimmed, just to see what happens at the end. I didn't care for it.

My problem with big harem is exactly that: unless you write a thousand page series with 9 books, then the development is terrible. Too many people, gosh!

At the third book, i wanted to see more envolvement and less sex and problems, honestly. There was no point to bring a new villain every book, it would have been better to have a big one that wrecked havoc through the series, imo. It was way longer than necessary, and it wasn't well developed.

- The pups. Raine is a 19-year-old girl (and we don't even see her birthday, so i assume she's still 19 up to the last book) who has recently turned into a vampire, found out she was part succubus, had a relationship with 7 men, and the whole bullshit happening around her. Why put the kids? Only so you can make other books later on? There were already other characters that would have been nice to see, like Annie and Ghost. Anyway... I didn't like it and honestly it was really irresponsible to put three traumatized kids in the hands of basically a young adult girl with a lot of issues, and a bunch of crazy ass vamps. My opinion.

- The succubus thing. After this, I felt like the books previous to that were all a lie. They didn't like Raine for her (and even if they fell for her later, it was obvious it would have never happened if it weren't for her blood, and she knows it too, which i HATED!) When I read romances, I want to see great love stories. I don't want to see men manipulated by blood and then realizing they actually loved her. For me, Judge and X were there for Tex, and nothing is going to change my mind. You know why? For the showing in the story, in contrast to the telling. Judge shows Tex all the goddamn time how he loves and cares for him. They actually have a better relationship together thatn Judge and Raine. X seems to be in love with Judge, and Raine is just there. Walker... poor Walker, sometimes I forgot he existed. Nico admited he wanted her for her blood and that was okay for him, and Lucius... we don't see this relationship developing.
Honestly, I'd rather Raine was just a common vamp that won over the guys for her personality and wits.

This story should have been bigger, but with less crazy plots that were baddly developed (who the fuck tried to explode Brody and Raine?/ Who was the HER that Nico mentioned to Lucius? Did Walker love Rosalia? What's really up with Judge and X? What will happen when Tex and Brody die?)

- Less, please don't write RH with immortals where two lovers are going to die! I can't take it! Specially because they are Raine's MATES and Annie said that when a mate loses their SO, they kinda lose their way. Is that going to happen to Raine? Or the fact there are two other mates is going to soften the blow?

Questions, questions.

A bittersweet ending!

This book was everything! This series was my introduction to Grace McGinty and I've been falling down the rabbit hole ever since. To have this specific series come to an end is bittersweet. I loved all of these characters so much! The last book of the series is just like the others and you don't want to stop turning the pages.

20 years later, Raine along with all of her guys - Walker, Judge, X, Nico, Lucius, Brody and Tex are all blissfully happy with each other and are enjoying their life together in Dark River. Only - Raine is officially over being apart of the Convocation for Endangered Preternatural Creatures. She never wanted the power and responsibility, she just wants to live her happily undead life with her men, make cupcakes and try not to screw up her wolf shifter pups.

When the Council decides her only way out is to get someone with just as much or more power as a replacement, her search begins to Amsterdam with rumors of The Night Demon. Only when she and her guys get there, they realize how in over her head they are. Raine was not expecting Vali or Orthus and all of the underlying feelings and thoughts she would have. After all, the woman already has a harem of seven!

This book is full of laughter, romance and pure steam! I loved every minute of it. The back and forth between her and her guys is both hilarious and heartwarming. We get more of her relationship with Lucius since we really haven't seen them together too much and his craziness to her calm just balances everything out! I loved everything about this book. The ending was perfect and although I will ALWAYS want more from these characters, I am very content with how this series was wrapped up. Maybe one day we can get a 100yr epilogue or something with Raine and her guys - I would love to read it. I am looking forward to the next amazing series from this author!!!

"There was something reassuring about the darkness. As a vampire, I lived in it now. I couldn't stand in the sun for too long without turning into a lobster, so I found beauty in the shadows of the night. Hopefully, one day, the shadows found beauty in me too."

*Overall 5/5
*Series Overall 5/5
*Heat 5/5
*Fast Burn
*First person POV (Raine only)
*Light MM, but Raine was always the focus
*Ends on HFN with a HEA feel!

Way to ruin a romance 101?

I’m not even going to rate ( oof sorry, I lied ended up getting a back bone and rating later), but I do remember this series was completely ruined for me when the author chalked up 90 % of the harems feelings for her (minus her actual mates— the mvps really ) to being because she had a hint of succubus ancestry inside her. I swear it was even pointed out that she wasn’t even one of the men’s type. Not as pretty as his ex, and implied the attraction was because of the succubus thing, I might be crazy but I think the dude even left for a bit because he couldn’t tell if he liked her because of her ancestry OR FOR HER??? ( she has a HUGE harem and dude was one of the first guys in it, you’d think he’d know by now??) Like you not being able to immediately tell, is giving the former bro. How romantic? I think at least one of the men was honest and was like: “your succubus blood attracts me to you”. His honesty actually made me like him more. No hate to this author but I’m noticing her books just aren’t for me. There’s always something, whether it’s just one thing as I mentioned above that ruins her books for me.

This book honestly could be read as a standalone since it took place 20 years after the previous book, but reading the previous books would give a little more context to the characters and little references they made throughout the book.

You could tell that the author grew as a writer, and there was a much more cohesive plot and character development, even though overall, I thought it a little absurd that the vampire FMC Raine managed to add yet another men to her already large harem. :)

It was fast-paced and humorous as before, and the book was a nice conclusion for the harem. I saw lots of mentions of side characters that I hope will be expanded in future spin-off series.

OMG…..as one of my favourite series I was excited when this book was announced and couldn’t wait to pick it up and I wasn’t disappointed. As you come to expect in a book from Grace it was magic in written form. Everything you could ask for in one enjoyable package. Great storytelling with characters that keep giving you more depth and substance the more you read. The world building is remarkable with its interchangeable series that all coke back to its original. Again we were graced with humour and sexy times to keep all types of readers entertained. The variety of characters ensures there is someone for everyone to claim!! Personally Lucius is my favourite. I’m sad to see this series come to its end but so glad we got one last unexpected visit to dark river.

This series…where do I even begin. I first started Dark River while in the darkest time of my life. I read as an escape and these characters truly helped me go somewhere new and get away from life for a bit. McGinty’s writing is truly magical, and she has the ability to bring her characters to life. It’s not secret that she’s one of my favorite authors, as I’ve read just about her entire backlog to date. This series in particular, however, holds such a special place in my heart. This is the last book of Raine and the guys though I know we’ll get glimpses of them in future series (all books are interconnected) which is one of the things I love about McGinty’s writing.

As always Grace, your storytelling skills never fails to entertain me. This book is just another of many examples of why you're on my list of the top rated 5⭐ authors that I absolutely love! I do hope we get more stories about Raine Baxter, and her 9 hot male alphas. I did enjoyed catching up.

I was so excited to dive back into Dark Rivers with Raine and her guys. I love the first three books and I couldn't wait to read what awaited our characters.

It's set 2 years in the future, and Raine is trying to give up her job on the council, and when she hears of a Night Demon in Amsterdam, she packs up and goes to find him. But it's not easy, and the Night Demon is not what he seems. His past is more intertwined with Raine's that she could imagine. Moreover, she has the hots for him and for his protector...

I feel like this book left me hanging toward the end. I hope there will be a fifth book.

I was kindly provided with an ARC by the author, but I'm leaving a voluntary and honest review.

I am SO SAD THAT THIS SERIES IS OVER😭😭😭💔

I have enjoyed their story so much and the fact that this bitch picked up 2 more men, oh holy hell balls and I am so freaking here for it as they completed her and it was all hot as fuck🔥

This book was based on finding the Night Demond so that she could step back in her role of the CON and it turns out, he was her missing half to a degree.. it was so freaking good. I honestly have no idea what I’m going to do now because I was so caught up in Dark Rivers… nothing will be the same🥲

The men.. 👅
Walker, Judge, X and Nico - Vampires
Brody - Alpha shifter
Tex - Half blooded Python shifter
Vali - An Incubus
Orthus - Hellhound (2 headed dog)

I absolutely loved this series. Usually when I finish a series, even a good one, I’m happy to move on to the next, but I’m sad this has ended and I’d be very happy to stay in this world with these characters. This was such a fun series, and even with the insta-love and additions to the harem (I usually don’t
Iike that), it just worked! Great characterisation, great writing, and nothing, I mean nothing, annoyed me about it. Amazing! Can’t wait to read more from this author.

4.5 for this one, but a 5 star series!

OK, I was going to give this book 3 stars because there are so many unanswered questions, especially about the kids, but I decided to give it 4 as an overall review.

Is it weird that I totally adore Vali? He seems so perfect. It's creepy lol.

I know there are spinoffs to this series but which is for Christopher? I am worried about a book character.

I wish Grace was more clear on which spinoffs are which. I'd like to know more about her kids.

Anyway, this was another cool experience with Ms McGinty!

I was lucky enough to win an ARC copy through the authors Facebook group. This book is a beautiful dream, catching up with Raine and her men and seeing how their relationships have developed over the last 20 years is as yummy as a special edition flavoured cupcake. This book is just want I wanted to experience of these characters 20 years later. Great characters, great writing and great story. I found myself slowing down my reading to enjoy every sentence.

You have to read the other books in the series but don’t necessarily need to have read all of Grace’s other books, but I suggest you do anyway. If you haven’t, I am jealous that you get to enjoy them new. Grace is one of go to authors and I enjoy everything she writes. This book and whole series is a must read.

Everything I wanted....and I still need more

I was honestly a bit worried whether book four would flow well with the first three given both the time span between the author writing it, as well as the time span in the actual story. All fears are fully laid to rest. Book four feels exactly the same in tone, character behavior, world building. Our favorite fmc (Raine) is still so freaking funny, selfless, self deprecating. Her guys are still the same delicious, psychotic, obsessed group. This is hands down one of my favorite RH series of all time and while book four was such a gift as I honestly wasn't sure Grace was going to continue the series, I am not ready to see this series wrap up. I have so many questions, so many theories, so many wishes for their future. I want more, so much more, of these particular characters who have a chemistry that is just in a class of its own. Phenomenal job Ms. McGinty. You knocked it out of the park and that just makes your fans want more!!! 😆💗🔥😭🔥💗

- Book Playlist (Dark River Days Book Series Playlist)

-----------------------------------

SUMMARY: (SPOILER WARNING)

It’s been twenty years since Raine became a vampire and found her guys. In that time, their three pups have grown up and moved out. And Raine was recruited as the Convocation Member for Endangered Preternatural Species — a position which she is growing weary of.

But the Convocation has told her that the only way she can leave the position is to find a replacement from her purview (the Endangered Preternatural Species) that is more powerful than her. The only one rumored to exist is a being nicknamed The Night Demon, who is rumored to live in Amsterdam.

So Raine and her guys set out to find him and hopefully find a replacement for her spot on the Convocation. But things don’t go as planned. And The Night Demon doesn’t end up being who she expected.

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
REVIEW:

For the most part I enjoyed the final book in The Dark River Days series.

It’s strange for it to take place twenty years later. In some ways it was neat to see how strong her bonds with the guys have grown. In other ways (especially when it comes to Brody and Tex, who are aging, even if it’s slowly) it’s more bittersweet. I really wish Brody and Tex were immortal too. I don’t like that.

As they travel to Amsterdam, there’s plenty of trouble they get themselves into and it’s a fun read. It is slower paced in some places. But overall the characters are just so darn likable that I still find myself enjoying the story despite that.

But seriously did we actually NEED to add two more guys to the (already giant) harem? NINE guys! It’s way too much. That takes the cake as the largest harem I’ve ever read (previously the winner was eight guys). As I’ve said before, I greatly prefer smaller harems (3-4 guys preferably, 5 max). But I do also love the family vibe that comes with a large harem that loves each other and doesn’t mind (or likes) sharing. So there’s that.

Even with my qualms about adding more guys to the harem, I actually really liked both Vali and Orthus, even if we didn’t get to know them as much as the others. X is easily still my favorite because he’s just so darn fun. But I also have a soft spot for soft spoken (yet surprisingly voyeristic) Walker. He never gets enough page time in my opinion. I also really like Lucius, but I was a much bigger fan of crazy Lucius over the now sane one.

But I do like all the guys in the harem even though it’s too big for my tastes. The biggest thing that takes the hit is the emotional connections and the sex scenes, which are more spread out between them. And any group scenes are kind of rushed. The one (and only) complete RH group scene (well, prior to Vali and Orthus being added) was hot, but also seemed so fast for it being so many guys.

Overall though, I liked the series for the likable characters and loving family/Pack vibes that they all have going on. It’s a cute lighter RH overall. Even with a few baddies trying to kill her in the first few books, the overall vibe of the series is light and just fun. Which is a nice change from the darker more heavier RH’s (which I love too, for the record). I would recommend it for those who like large RH’s that are more light and fun.

3.5 ⭐️

We want more, we want more, we want more, more, more……this series hooked me to Grace McGinty and I’ve never left. How did I not know this was coming out? Gah, this was much needed.
You know how you see and speak to an old friend after a long time and everything just clicks like u haven’t been apart….AT ALL. Yeah, this book was just like that.
I started this late at night (why don’t I learn? Why?) and yeah, you guessed it, no sleep 🤦🏾‍♀️. But who needs sleep, right?
I have noticed that most times the FMCs in RHs or should I say most books (yeah, better), I don’t like most FMCs, but I’ve always liked Raine (note to self: should read my old reviews to see if this true 😂) or was it all the joy of coming back to Dark River that has made me gushy. Oh well, whatever, this book was soooo good. It hit me in all the feels:
1. The acronym usage: FUBAR, FOMO
2. Pop culture references
3. Lucius and X, you know what, the whole harem, Brody, Judge, Nico, Tex and Walker. 🥰 these guys have made a large harem work, yet it’s full of *cough cough* psychopaths.
4. More harem members, you know aside from how Lucius was affected, I expected like all harems members to get bonds due to the increase in power Raine got. A side effect of loving a succubus thing happening. I know, I know too much daydreaming but Tex and Brody going older was bitter to swallow plus her parents and also the offspring bit 😔, sorry Rainy Day.
5.We like the new guys, which I thought wouldn’t be possible.
But alas, it was soooo short:
-we didn’t get to go to Niso.
-didn’t see the kids till the end.
-it ended. 😂

Thank you Ms Grace McGinty

I'm not even going to lie, when I read the reviews for this book and all the complaints about it being 20 years later, adding two more men to the harem, and the spice maybe not being as spicy as some expected, I had a ton of reservations about this one.... I even started it (and enjoyed what I was reading) but put it down for 5 days because I wasn't sure that I wanted to read it.

But man oh man am I so glad I did!! In my opinion this was the best book in the series! I laughed so hard so many times that it is possible my husband thinks I'm going crazy. I absolutely loved the new additions to the family, and the dynamic of Rain's "pack" 20 years in the future. I love how adding new members was handled by the original 7 and while a harem of 9 can be hard to keep track of (I've definitely read my share where I had to keep cheat sheets of who was who in the notes because personality weren't distinguishable) there was never a moment in any of the books where I didn't know which character was which or where I didn't feel like they were a whole person.

The only reason this isn't a perfect 5 star book for me is because it took until the last one to get us this close to perfect. I can 100% appreciate that, but for me I can quite love it without loving the rest of the series. And to me the other books were 4 to 4.5 ⭐ worthy.

I will definitely be checking out the rest of Grace McGinty's work and if she ever decides to give us more of Rain and her Consorts I will 100% Be here for it!

I’m still bummed that it was in single POV. I wasn’t going to read the rest of the series after book one but I really wanted to see the kiddos. If you’re reading the series for the experience of them being parents, I would pass solely because it’s like a needle in the haystack. Not much mentioned, most mentioned in the third book and then sprinkles in the fourth.
I’m also in agreement that there should have been some way for Tex and Brody to have immortality. It made it feel like there wasn’t truly a HEA but especially because it was often mentioned that they were getting older so we’re left this reality that they will die. Even if it’s not written on page, it’s where the story will lead. I think it would have made more sense to make them immortal than to cure Lucius’ madness. Like that should have taken precedence.
The series gave more of a romcom paranormal/fantasy vibe than a regular paranormal/fantasy. The banter was gold.
Circling back to the POV, with it being a single POV series with a large harem, many of her lovers were overshadowed. I wish we had more from all of them and the men’s POVs, I feel robbed from that experience honestly hahaha.

MMMMMMFMMM

Everyone was basically together other than Brody, Nico, and Walker. Although they were even thrown into MM situations. Like Brody kissing Tex lol.

Lucius - Vamp
Nico - Vamp
Walker - Vamp
Judge - Vamp
X - Vamp
Brody - Shapeshifter
Tex - two something lol basically a giant snake
Vali/Valor - Incubus
Orthus - Hellhound

Oh and there’s no epilogue. 🥲

Minor Spoilers

Spoilers because I need to fan girl without restrictions. I will try to keep the spoilers down to a minimum. First of all, how great was it to be back in Dark River with the gang? Did anyone else miss them as much as I did???? Secondly, did anyone keep track of how many Easter eggs were dropped because holy biscuits! I lost track but it was so cool to see so many faces again. There were some it was sad not to see and some I was not expecting to see but overall the entire book was gold. I am slightly disappointed in *** story arc but only because like Raine I loved him for who he was, but I guess we will get to know him for who he is now, or well...I guess this is the last book so maybe not us. 😭 I know it's what's best for him and I'm happy for him. So.....about Miranda's story. ....and Alexander's story..... ...yea I need that. Like yesterday??? HOW DARE YOU MAKE THE SHIFTERS AGE. AND HOW DARE YOU TRY AND MAKE TEX EXPLAIN IT TO US IN A WAY THAT WERE SUPPOSED TO BE OKAY WITH IT. NONONONONONONONONO SNAKELET AND ALPHA CANNOT DIE. Tell Alexander to fix it. And how evil of you to now make it cannon that she cannot turn them into vampires!!!!!! We need them. The two new people we meet, ehhh honestly, I could take them or leave them. But they could make thinks interesting. Also I totally want to pet the two headed puppy. I'm taking away your cookies. Overall ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Characters 💜💜💜💜💜 Plot 💙💙💙💙 Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Author Evilness 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

I CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF DARK RIVER!!!!
Seriously I could happily read 10 more books of just Raine and her guys just doing boring day to day stuff and I would eat that up like buttercream frosting🍰🎂🧁from the Immortal Cupcake❤️❤️❤️

I think this could be my favorite of the 4 books. Raine has subconsciously been worried that one day she would wake up to her guys leaving because she’s not enough for them. But what Sheriff says to make her understand that will NEVER happen?? Swoon!!! I just love that man (it doesn’t hurt that I picture him looking like Tim Rosen playing Doc Holiday in Wynonna Earp🥵🥵🙌🔥).

I was also worried I wouldn’t like the 2 new pack additions but I couldn’t be more wrong. They slid effortlessly into Raines’ pack like they were always meant to be there. Gah! Ooo and I loved the tiny peek of the gargoyles & Luc from Hells Redemption Series🙌- nothing makes me happy like an Easter egg from another Grace McGinty book❤️❤️❤️

Lastly, Lucius??? I LOVE THAT MAN. For someone I hated so much when we first meet him? I think he’s at the top of my favorites from Raines’ pack (okay except 🐍Tex🐍 because 🐍 just hearing X affectionately call him🐍Snakelet🐍?? Sigh…..I love all the guys so much….)

Why one star off? Because I REALLY wanted to live vicariously through Raine during X’s pack orgy🥰🥵🙌
I mean explicit details were definitely necessary to imagine it…haha! 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Holy Moley!! I LOVE Grace McGinty. I think she is a fabulous author and I can't understand why her name isn't mentioned more in RH or paranormal circles. Grace is one of those rare authors that gets the balance 'just right'. Her books are full of humour, action, spice (ohhh the spice!!), a bit of mystery/intrigue and great banter. I absolutely love this series and I must admit I shed a tear when I finished book 3 as I thought it was the last in the series. To say I was over the moon when this book was released is an understatement. I absolutely FLOVED this book. It was so good visiting some of my favourite characters again and seeing how their relationship has evolved. I adored the little easter eggs referencing her other stories and I also loved the new aspects that were introduced during this book. It was so bloody exciting and funny; I was trying to slow down my reading to savour the story and I couldn't! Based on this book I am hoping there is even more Dark River goodness in the works. If you love romance, RH and/or paranormal please read this series. You will thank me later.

real smooth there

Raine is a interesting character. I mean she has all of these men and I don’t know how she does it. I mean yeah they have separate relationships with each other but it just seems really complicated. We don’t really get to see how their relationships work. I feel like it is more of a background and not actually in the forefront.
Raine seems to want out of the responsibility of the convocation and does whatever it takes to find someone else. I get that she has a lot on her plate and wants to be home taking care of her family. However shouldn’t she wants to get everything settled and put into place before trying to get rid of it. I understand she was blindsided to this responsibility. But, she knows what it feels like to be suddenly put into a new position with nothing. She has these supposed mates to rely on and yet I didn’t see anything to support that.
I felt the story was rushed and there was a lot of information that was missed that could have had a smoother storyline.
Overall the characters were well developed and it gave us the future without really giving away anything at all from her other series.

Tasty 😋

Nothing has been boring since she was turned. Now she wants to retire from that life. She wants to just love her mates and make cupcakes in her precious bakery book store. Only in order to do that she has to track down the night demon and convince him to take her place as rare supernaturals guardian. Her and her beloved mates are off to Amsterdam to track down the legendary and elusive male. Nothing is ever easy. A clash with an Amsterdam vampire nest marks her and her powerhouse lovers for death. With the mad king, his twin brother, the judge and the executioner of the vampire world as your mates you are going to draw attention and plenty of enemies.
They discover the night demon and his guardian is not what they thought they would be ( and his nickname is completely misleading, or is it?) A hot and sexy story with heart. Raine and her guys ( some that love one another as much as they love her😉) adore their family and want her to be happy as much as she makes them.

Raine

I’m not gonna lie, I’m gonna miss the hell out of this series. Raine and her collection of men.
In one way I have no bloody idea how she could keep up but same time she was made to have as many lovers as she wanted. No jealousy, they all became a family.
I’ve loved Raines world of vampires, shapeshifters, witches, shifters and other supernaturals that I’m sure have their own stories.
It’s given me a lot of true blood vibes, just sookie was a fairy lol and didn’t have a harem. Although she did go through a few yummy men during her series.
Anyway it’s a series you can’t help but love, crave and find addicting.
It’s got its own special unique story and it’s one il treasure. And il be re reading it again for sure.
The characters have all made this series an incredible and special experience. The writing and hard work thats has been put into it shows 100%
Highly recommend 10/10

Amazing!

I don't want to give away any spoilers so I won't go into the plot at all but this book was everything I wished it to be. I am feeling pretty depressed that this will be the last one but am also grateful we got to have book 4. I feel like I could read countless more books about these characters. I literally never get tired of reading this series. If I'm sick I read these books. If I'm feeling down I read these books. These books are like my comfort food. It's the macaroni and cheese and chocolate cake of book series. Grace McGinty is one of my favorite writers. Reading her books feels effortless for me. I never have to put them down to take a break or read something else because I got bored. If you are on the fence about reading this please don't be. It is such a fun and exciting conclusion to an already amazing story!

Amazing book

Wow, just wow why n amazing book, knew this was going to a fantastic read as I’ve loved all the other Dark River books and was so excited to see another one after it seems like ages. Grace always writes stories that draw you right in, love the Manix and this is my favourite series by her. Raine has changed so much over the course of the Dark River series and is now a confident powerful supernatural. Don’t know how she manages all her mates, especially Lucius, X and Nico.
This book is different in that it’s set mainly in Amsterdam which comes with a whole lot of new crazy encounters for Raine and her consorts. I was giggling to myself in several-laces, this is such a well written entertaining read.
