In my early experience of investing in securities I soon became aware that for the most part, my efforts were part of a ‘get poor fast’ scheme.
I did not have any clue how the markets worked and would invest in companies that someone told me were going to make me rich. As soon as I purchased the security, I would go to my local Ferrari dealership and try to decide if I wanted the classic red, or the bright yellow Ferrari in the showroom.
It is obvious that the author has a lot of knowledge at hand. The book is the work of a very well educated, orderly mind with the unusual ability to make complicated matter easy to understand.
The concept of “To the Moon” is to encourage an investor to make good investment decisions using the tools that it contains. The idea of the navigational maps in particular are brilliant. If you want to go to the Moon, better have a plan to get there and some maps to guide you to it.
This book requires work on the part of the investor, no doubt the author is no stranger to hard work. But he makes the work easier to do by giving the necessary sources, and the means by which to get the necessary information needed to make smart trades. The maps are pure gold.
Everyone who reads this book and makes use of its tools will be a be a better investor and will make above average returns.

Good approach to investing. Is a good read, maybe too much info on the Fed but many will like that. Only investment I’ve come across that explains options clearly. Investment maps need to be digitized.

I struggled with how to rate this one as I am not sure who the target audience is. I get the sense that it is aimed at the novice investor given the tone and the metaphorical rocket ship to the moon language throughout the book. But there is a lot of technical jargon that I think could overwhelm the novice investor. However, the seasoned investor will likely find the concepts fairly basic. Maybe someone who has been investing for a short time will find the concept of funneling the voluminous amount of financial data available into an "investment map" helpful.
I ended up giving it 3 stars as the author does help point the investor toward the important data and points out somewhat redundant data points. And he does outline as structure and process for determining relative valuation. I personally don't agree with his focus on using the latest 10 year data to calculate averages for comparison purposes to determine relative valuation as markets can remain over or under valued for periods longer than that. But others may be okay with that as a starting point for determining valuation.

Like the North Star, this book is a reliable navigational tool. It points the reader in the right direction at the outset of their investment journey and serves as an excellent resource/touchpoint to refer back to, keeping the journey on track. It's written in an entertaining manner with pop culture references ranging from sports to music to literature to entertainment.
The book is meticulously researched, and has a detailed Index for referring back to. The footnotes provide a vast array of investment & financial wisdom should a reader wish to read further.
I especially found Chapter 15's "Helpful Principles and Touchpoints" to be very useful.
This is a resource that should be a part of every investor's arsenal.

To the Moon Investing is an comprehensive read and guide to mapping your financial / securities portfolio with valuable financial tools and accounting principle measures to help define your path forward. Also, really loved the many quotations throughout the book providing cognitive pause for thought and the occasional chuckle. A good read and highly receommended!

Speed read this relatively slender volume in one of Barnes and Nobles’ comfy chairs. Breezy intro to investing, pretty good without too much hype. Not much of value for me in it though. 2 mehs out of 5 stars.

For me a typical self investor, I found this book to be instrumental in understanding the stock market. I not only added to my financial literacy but now clearly understand the impacts of the Federal Reserve and the connected prime interest rates.
Delving into critical factors influencing the market: Price of oil, US President Approval Rating, Consumer Price Index, Unemployment rates, & GDP are essential to growing your portfolio. Kelly James Frank’s approach using his portfolio maps makes it easy to discern how your portfolio is progressing.
Obviously, there are no shortcuts and you need to be attentive to your investments by spending a few hours each week actively monitoring and fine-tuning your holdings.
The famous quotes at the beginning of each chapter are not only relevant to the chapter but fun to reread and discover. Overall, everyone regardless of investment prowess can discover valuable information by reading this book.
