There's really a supernatural element in this romance, but the participants don't quite realize it. Independent Debra buys a gag gift, Fiance in a Box, to eliminate the pressure after one more blind date. She uses the material in the box to create "Lawyer Logan," an ideal man. Just when her parents are lobbying for an introduction, Logan appears, acting as though all the things she's made up about their relationship are true. Debra is sure he's a con man or something, but gradually admits to her ...more

It was good, until it wasn't. That's why I gave it two stars instead of one. It was a very clever, amusing story up until a few chapters from the end. I would recommend stopping reading right after the main character goes to the convention/awards banquet and then inserting your own story. ...more

Stumbled upon this book in a used bookstore and the cover and blurb enticed me to buy it. At about 25% I almost DNF because of the hysterical, over-the-top (to me) responses/reactions of the characters to what happens. But, I'm glad I didn't. Unlike some other readers, I enjoyed the twist and the ending, though the over-the-top responses continued, and the book was at least 50 pages longer than it needed to be, thus I settled around 3 stars. ...more

Debra Daniels is still single; is that such a crime? She's tired of nagging parents, sympathetic friends and too many blind dates to count. What the hell? This is the craziest! This is the question and thought I kept asking myself as I read this book. The plot was trying at times as it kept me wondering just "what is going on" and ever curious as to how the author would explain this craziness. With much surmising throughout as to what was actually going on, my conjectures never led me to the simply unique and clever conclusion of this book. I do not want to say anything to give away that conclusion, but to those who believe and I am ...more

I was intrigued by the story ... and wondering if it was ever made into a movie ... the whole time I was reading it I could see it like a soap opera :) :P The only problem I had was the length of the book ... I'm sure it was the appropriate length and the sequence of events necessary to pull off hte ending ...but I found it quite dragging toward the end.. It made a 4.5 star story into a 3.5 for me ...a shame really ... still, I would definitely watch if someone made this into a movie :D ...more

The absolute WORST book I have read in years. Maybe decades.

I was looking for something silly, modern, and sweet. Instead, I got a book full of stupidity, frustration, hemorroid jokes, crappy behavior, crude references... to the point where I jumped something like a hundred pages to see what was going on, and found myself in the SAME place, only with the guy/girl roles flipped.

It's just awful. Skip it, burn it... stay away. This book sucks out IQ points.

This book was so cute. I was really confused for a while, but the end pulls it all together. I was laughing out loud at parts I was so entertained. I adored this book. Logan was super hot and I liked both sides of his personality. Debra was funny and I love how she grew and changed as the book went on. So much fun!

This is the first book by Kathleen Bacus that I've read and it is now in my top favorite books. It was a unique and magical story that was so humorous I was constantly laughing out loud. The plot is filled with many twists and turns so you aren't quite sure what will happen next. I hope there is a sequel to this book about her friend Suzi. ...more

The book was interesting. It was kind of Twilight Zonish. It was a page turner, however, the end was what ruined it. It was pretty corny. If the end was better, it would have gotten 3 stars as opposed to 2.

A very original idea. From a personal perspective I was disappointed by the twist. But- light hearted and fun.

Oh my heck!! This book was so funny!! It is a little racy in a few parts, but definately not as bad as some of the movies you see on tv. It was so much fun to read for me! I loved it!
