"When you're ready, we'll exchange broken hearts and mend them together."
"Oh?"
"Mine for yours."

I've recently discovered Harloe Rae and I love her writing. The title caught my eye first. If you combine that with this cover (!), the fact that it has both a single dad and a single mom, both trying to learn how to live, love, and lust again, and really cute, insightful kids... Yeah, it's a pretty perfect storm, honestly.

"The faded jeans and plain T-shirt are still molded to his brawn. An unbuttoned flannel has entered the mix. His colorful tattoos are now unfortunately hidden from view. Oh, and I can't forget the cherry on top. That dang backward hat will be my undoing."
Rhodes. It wasn't only the backward hat that was my undoing, it was the whole freaking package. One, the guy is a whiskey lover, so that means bonus points from me any day. Two, the hotness level and the dirty-talking level on this man are through the roof! Three, the swoon level is right up there too. And four, yeah, he's a grumpy one.
So, yes, please, and thank you!

"I absently wonder if this woman was dropped in my path to drive me straight to madness."
Rylee was easy to like from the get-go. She's such a strong woman, she's raising her kid on her own, and she just lost her brother. Somehow, that doesn't stop her from anything. It drives her. She wears her heart on her sleeve and doesn’t shy away from her emotions. She has the will to carry on with her brother's legacy, to move forward, all without hiding who she really is. Plus, she drove Rhodes crazy, and that was amazing in itself.

"Silly, Firefly. The chase started the second you walked into our bar."
The moment she enters her brother's bar to find Rhodes there alone changes everything. He's not ready for her, even though he felt the pull of her before. But he thought it would pass, even though he didn't want it to. He thought he wouldn't see much of her again, but now that she's in town and wants to be part of managing her brother's bar, he can't really get away.
And she's ready to make his life miserable, or that's what it seems like, when she brings out the asshole in him without much effort.

"How little you must think of me."
"That would require me to think of you in the first place."
"Damn. Totally walked into that one."

The problem is... that asshole isn't quite who he is. He just has a hard time adjusting to her presence, and yes, that also means that he has to adjust himself quite a few times. She spreads sunshine in her path, except when it comes to him. She's dealing with the changes in her life, and she's not about to put up with him being a jerk. Or a caveman. Or an alpha male.
Or maybe that doesn't sound so bad after all.

"Has anyone ever called you a brute?"
"No, this is new for me. You're the only one who pokes my inner bear. He's been hibernating until you walked into the bar."

I loved their banter. I loved that neither was willing to give up an inch, but they're giving up anyway. He falls first. He also loses his mind over her first. Staring at her across the bar and trying to keep anyone from touching her would be creepy if it were anyone else, but not him. When he falls, he wants her, and he will stop at nothing to get her. And trust me, this guy can be patient and bring all the swoon!
Rylee? She's starving for affection, for being someone's everything. She doesn't know how to deal with whatever it is she's feeling. But she allows him and his kid to enter her life, and even though she's stubborn, she knows it feels right.
I also loved all her nicknames for him. Except for ‘Daddy’. But then again, he doesn’t like that one that much either. Bonus points for that, too.

"More."
"Wanna try that again?"
"Please. Please, please."
"That's my girl."
"I still don't like you."
"Let those beautiful lips keep spilling lies. Your pussy tells the truth. The rest of you will come around soon enough."

Their kids don't make life easy on them. They see a lot more than grown-ups do, and they know what's going on from that first trip to the park. It will take Rhodes and Rylee a lot more to get there. The tension, the push and pull, the will-they-won't-they, his protective streak and her defiance, the way they handle each other... absolutely perfect.

"Best damn thing I've put in my mouth. Whiskey is ruined for me. I'll need you as a flavor shot from now on."
Even when they give in, they keep giving each other shit and calling each other out on it. Their verbal sparring matches were great as foreplay because, let's face it, that was exactly what it was. It's before-they're-doing-it foreplay, but also while-they're-doing-it foreplay. It was hot at times and funny as hell too. But mostly hot.
The best thing? There's a kinky side of him that only comes out for her. There's also a sexier side she hasn't explored until him. Suffice to say I don't think I'll be looking at whiskey the same way again for a while.

”Would you like to stay?”
“The night?”
“Forever.”

The book has an emotional side that pulls you in, too. The grief they’re both feeling over the loss of her brother, his best friend. Their broken hearts. All the want, but also all the caution, because they’re not sure how far their feelings go. The absolute honesty that comes from them both, which was heartwarming to see. And the love that comes from that honesty when nothing can break them apart.
Harloe, thank you for not adding unnecessary drama. Thank you for not having the third-act conflict. Their story is exactly as it should be.

"We see where this road takes us."
"And let love guide us each step of the way."

When it feels right, you roll with it. You reach for it, and you grab it with both hands. Go big or go home. As their kids say, the fire between them is burning like huge flames. It’s not Mine For Yours anymore, but maybe more like Mine For Ours. And that brings a smile to my face.

I swear, if this crafty storyteller's words get any more poetic, I’ll start calling her Harloe Dickinson. She paints a picture that you not only see in living color, but it wraps around you, consuming you and drawing you into the story as far more than a casual observer. She then infuses it with so much heart and emotion that you live and breathe the story alongside characters who feel like a part of your soul.

Rylee Creed and Rhodes Walsh are drawn together under the worst possible circumstances. She's lost her brother, he's lost his best friend, and they're both left with Trevor's shining achievement – his bar, the Bent Pedal. Moving forward under a weight of grief while drowning in heartache seems impossible, especially when Rylee and Rhodes don’t see eye to eye on much of anything. But sorrow by sorrow and day by day, they come to realize the best way to honor Trevor is to continue what he started and fulfill the dreams he had. Together.

Grief has immutable power. It can drive people apart and destroy lives, or it can bring people together and build something new. And when it has a little help from two second-grade matchmakers in the form of Peyton Walsh and Gage Creed, Rylee and Rhodes don’t stand a chance. His daughter and her son seem to have it all figured out, and they're not shy about sharing their wishes and plans. In a story brimming with pain and mourning, these two shining beacons are the perfect counterbalance and comic relief.

Oh, my heart, I knew a Rae romance would ruin me, but I wasn’t ready for this one! Right from the beginning, boom, straight into the deepest fathoms of the emotional ocean we went. It was all I could do to catch my breath and hold on through the storm. Then these two, colorful unicorn floats pop up with “Rage Gage" and Peyton, the sky begins to part and the sun peeks through the storm clouds. The contrast between the oppressive grief and these rays of light is freaking brilliant and makes for the most exquisite emotional whiplash. I couldn’t get enough!

In the depths of its broken heart, this is a story of gentle healing, glorious hope, and promising new beginnings. Powerful and profound, yet warm and beguiling, this unparalleled, masterful read is one of my all-time favorites. Get your copy and clear your calendar – I know you'll love it as much as I do!

Emotionally charged and deliciously sexy, this story will steal your heart! You'll cry, you'll laugh, and you'll fall in love with this couple and their journey.

Rylee and Rhodes started as enemies, but they needed to find common ground to move forward. She's been hurt before. He is okay being alone. They never expected to find each other. Now there is no going back. Rylee was a tough nut to crack, but once Rhodes found those openings, he went full steam ahead. The man can delivers perfectly on the SWOON!

Amazing chemistry, comic relief care of two spunky kids, and healing that brought them to the most beautiful forever. I loved this book so very much. Full of poignant moments, the author will tug at your heart strings.

From beginning to end, this story will capture your heart. Loss that tears you up and leaves you broken. However, you can't have the rainbow without the rain. Heartbreakingly loss broke them, but it also brought them together. Love will heal them. A DO NOT MISS love story!!!

1 🤦🏻‍♀️⭐️

I don’t think I will look at a bottle of whiskey the same way again! *

One thing is certain! It was not predictable!!!

I got lured by the blurb! 🤦🏻‍♀️
Two-single-parents had my attention instantly!

I wasn’t fond of the writing style.
Rylee was not an appealing character. One minute she was acting childish and the next bitchy.
There was insta lust - especially from Rhodes’ side, yet lack of chemistry between mcs. Rhodes falling hard and becoming sugary didn’t excite me at all.

The two 7 y.o. kids were unrealistic to me. Their thoughts and dialogues were not aligned with their age!
“Henry wanted a turn to swing with me, but I told him our fire is burning out.” Payton (Rhodes’ daughter)
“I have six girlfriends.” Pride sings from his voice. Cage (Rylee’s son)

I don’t know... maybe in some parts of this world the kids are beyond their age. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This was a dreadful read for me and I have to admit there were some parts that I skimmed...

I think I’m gonna DNF this.

I forced myself through the first 50 pages, and besides for the insta-attraction vibes I’m getting which I’m not a big fan of, I’m not liking the writing style at all. It’s very wordy/descriptive + the dialogue feels very off and isn’t flowing very smoothly for me…. I just don’t see myself making it through 250 more pages of this and actually enjoying it by the time I get to the end.

I love it when the hero and heroine in the book are both single parents, add in enemies to lovers and I was so excited to read this one. The scenes with the kids stole the show, and I liked the hero a lot, but the heroine I couldn’t really connect with.

HOLY HOTNESS!

I'm new to Harloe Rae and I have to say that I am totally hooked, I love her writing style it's fun and light even when the subject is heavy she has a knack for lightening the mood.

I loved the banter between Rylee and Rhodes, but their precious little seven year old children stole the pages that they were on. Payton took everything literally and Gage was a little jokester.

Rylee's brother was killed in and he left her his bar "BENT PEDAL" in his will, it takes her about a month after his funeral to gather her son and her things to move cross country back to the small town where she was born and raised. When she arrives at the bar she finds Rhodes, a bottle of scotch and two shot glasses, things go south pretty quickly but they don't stay that way for long.

The chemistry between Rhodes and Rylee was so strong everyone around them could feel it, and it was only a matter of time before things got hot and heavy between the two of them.

Harloe Rae didn't only write about an amazing couple she gave us two adorable children as well, Payton who grew up without a mom and Gage who grew up without a dad, these two children will have you wrapped around their little fingers once you've met them and can I say that I hope Harloe does a fast forward and gives these two their own stories somewhere down the line. "Rage Gage" needs to be the over protective brother to Payton and weed out all the troublesome guys until she finds the perfect one.

I highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys Steamy New Adult Contemporary Romances, Single Parent Romances, Siblings Best Friend Romances, or Workplace Romances.

Happy Reading!!!

Harloe Rae delivers a double single parent romance that will leave you swooning for weeks.
For Rylee and Rhodes it is anything but love at first sight. Both grieving the loss of someone close to them and jaded from past relationships, their hearts are locked up tighter than Fort Knox. Their new role as business partners however, keeps the two in close proximity and before long that fire makes its way to the bedroom...and other places. Holy moly are these two explosive together.
In Mine For Yours you can expect deep emotion, hysterical banter, adorable kids, and panty melting spice. A new favorite for me from Mrs. Rae, hands down.

I can’t adjust to the author’s writing style. The banter with the kids are cute but the adult interactions leave little to be desired. It’s reading like enemies to lovers but the tension is weird. I don’t know how to describe it. I had to stop.

A girl walks into a bar….and so the story begins. Oh my tender heart! Mine for Yours is simply Harloe Rae at her very best. The emotively poignant prose, the substantive and enchanting characters, and the magnetic chemistry all sparkle in this emotionally rich and incredibly heartfelt love story. It’s swoony, it’s sassy, it’s sexy as hell. But at its core we have a tender and sincere story of healing and growth, one deeply relatable and immersively mesmerizing. I couldn’t stop turning the pages of this charming love story- these characters, their journey, their love stole my heart.

From the very first page, this story tugs at the heart. It’s a journey born out of shared grief, shared loss, shared tragedy- and a journey that starts with broken hearts in the rain, but one that ends full of hope and joy. Rylee and Rhodes have both lost someone they love- Rylee’s brother- in an unexpected tragedy. Now unexpected and reluctant business partners, these two find themselves at odds with just how to proceed with the beloved bar. A bar that is more than just a business-it’s practically a living, breathing reminder of what they’ve lost, a veritable manifestation of their grief. And I loved these characters- I loved Rylee’s heart and sass, her fortitude and strength. And Rhodes is a total dreamboat once we get past his defensive aholery. And hold on to your ovaries when you see him with his daughter. Hold onto your panties when you see him woo Rylee.

The chemistry between these two is just consuming. Harloe layers their connection with so many emotions, so many complications, so much baggage, and yet, it feels so simple and pure. Not only are these two struggling to wade through their survivor’s guilt and their grief-broken hearts, but they are also single parents with their own relational baggage. Grief and distrust are hard barriers to break, but the attraction between them is undeniable, and what starts out as a heated tryst involves into a substantive and restorative connection. Harloe really beautifully creates parallels in their journeys- both single partners, both business partners, both abandoned by the other parent of their children, both mired in languishing grief- yet they struggle to get on the same page at first, too lost in their own heads, too broken to open their hearts. But open they do- and what a beautiful relationship begins. Out of the most unimaginable pain, out of loss and brokenness they are able to find wholeness and light in one another. Harloe gives us such incredible emotional intimacy with these characters that we can practically see the fissures of their hearts healing as they work through their shared grief and find new purpose in one another. And we’re rooting for them SO DAMN HARD.

While their story has a heaviness when it comes to healing, Harloe also balances the heavy with the light. We have some amazing banter, two scene-stealing “not little” 7 year olds, and some scorching hot sexy scenes that certianly will have me never looking at whiskey the same way again. But what I love most about Harloe Rae stories is just how intimately focused they are- each book has a cornucopia of quiet but impactful one-on-one moments with her characters. She immerses us completely in their evolution of their connection, thoughtful moment after thoughtful moment plays out the page. Not a word is wasted- and here in particular I felt the power of those narrative choices. The small but intentional ways these characters share pieces of themselves with each other, and with us. Harloe makes the angst more in their own journeys with each other- the conflict is subtle, ist small, and it’s the hardest of all- HEALING. It’s magic to read.

Grief is perhaps the most complicated and complex of human emotions- and one of the most universal. How odd that an emotion that hurts so much, that wounds so deeply is one that comes out of love. I love how Harloe explores that- how we see these characters find a way to not let go of their grief, because it never leaves you, but to channel it into their being, into their living, into leaning into the connection they have with each other. Sometimes loss is the catalyst to help us seek what we’re missing, to see what we can’t see- and sometimes out of immense pain comes incredible beauty. Lonely broken hearts finding healing in one another- sometimes broken hearts heal faster when you just trust someone else to hold your pain. It’s bittersweet, but beautiful- like this heartwarming story. Harloe breaks our hurts to heal them- and leave them so very full.

After going in blind, I was immediately hit in the feels and the hits kept coming. This heartfelt, double single parent romance deals with elements of grief and finding love after loss, basically all the freakin feels!

I’m still not over these characters and they’re amazing story. This double single parent romance was such a blast for my cute kid loving soul! Rage Gage and Bumblebee nearly stole the show! lol

Harloe Rae left her heart between the pages of this heartfelt romance. Rhodes and Rylee’s story is not only heartfelt, but filled with laughs, great banter, and lots of smexy times. Mine For Yours is my new favorite Harloe Rae book. If you’re a fan of single parent romance, this is a must read!

I had the honor of being able to read an early copy of this book and I’m here to rave about all its beauty!

This story is an emotional one and Harloe doesn’t hold back. She really grabs your attention from the start but it’s their journey through healing that brings Rhodes and Rylee together!

Pain has a way of either breaking people apart or bringing them together! It was shaky for these two at the start and even as they begin to get to know one another there are still moments of doubt! The most amazing thing about this book though was how strong and sure Rhodes is as a lover! He totally blew my mind with his sweet words and kind heart!

Gotta love a book with kids though and the two little in this book will steal the show and your heart! Gage had me cracking up with his antics and Payton with her honesty!

Be ready for a bewitching story full of emotion, laughter and so much love you won’t know what to do!!

It happened! First single parent romance I couldn't finish! I am at 70%. Just kept reading till the "whisky scene" that everybody on tik tok were obssesed with.
For me the book was really bad. The writing style was weird. Maybe because I am not native speaker but I've read 300+ books in english and I've never had such a problem.

But even ingoring this I am surprised that I didn't like it at least a bit to finish it. It supposed to be single dad and single mom, cute kids, forced proximity, grumpy/sunshine. In theory that should be a perfect read for me. But the problems were:
1. He was not grumpy, she was. And that wouldn't be too much of the problem but for me she was just unlikeable. She had this bitch attitude all the time, she tried to be this big boss lady but turn out as childish. Sorry honey, you know nothing about running a business, especially a bar, so be hamble and maybe listen what others have to say sometimes. She was habving an attitude beacuse he knew more than her. Then she didn't want to flirt with him because it is unproffesional but she didn't have a problem flirting like crazy with her employees. Another thing is that she was jealous when other girls are just looking at him in the park and in her mind she doess't have nice things to say about them (mind that he doesn't do anything about the attention) but she is mad at him that he is jealous when she is openly flirting with their employees. Also she was a bitch at the beggining, even when he was trying to be nice. Then she finds out from her friends he has money and is the catch so she has sex with him. Then she sees his home and she is nice all the sudden. Giving me "I am only for your money" kind of vibe.
2. Everybody was saying that the sex scenes were hot but they did nothing to me, maybe they would be ok it they were not talking during. Especially her.
3. The kids were a little bit cute sometimes. They did not behave like any other kids I know. And that wouldn't be a problem if there was one kid. But the problem was that her son and his doughter talked the same way, behave the same way and also their parenting styles were completly the same. Maybe if they would be sibling it would be ok. But even in the same family I don't know two kids that are THE SAME!
4. Overall, the story was boring.
5. Also I didn't feel a chemistry between them and at 70% I didn't see true feelings.

Not for me. I wouldn't read it again. I won't finish the book and I would not recommened.

1.5/5 extra just for his dirty mouth.

steamy yet unsatisfying

It makes me sad to say I really struggled with this book and review.

I’ve read, and own, plenty of the author’s other works. Single parent and enemies to lovers stories are two of my favorite tropes, yet this one fell very short for me.

Rhodes, a highly successful business man and Rylee are thrust together running a bar/restaurant after the loss of her brother Trevor. They are complete strangers to one another. They have an immediate reaction upon their first meeting that becomes an ongoing sparring match of words.

Somewhere along the way Rhodes decided Rylee was his and began hot pursuit. They do have some nice moments helping each other through their grief. The kids are adorable, his daughter, her son. And there is plenty of steamy encounters. The story just didn’t resonate with me like I’d hoped.

Not horrible, not fantastic, just okay.

I think I have what is considered as an unpopular opinion. I DNF’d this bad boy. I couldn’t understand how juvenile Rylee was and why Rhodes put up with it. The weird metaphors that I’m sure were supposed to be poetic but confused the hell out of me. The animosity that Rylee felt and how unprofessional she was with her literal employees was just blech. The way the kids talked in this book too, I mean. Kids do t talk like that, at least not any I know. Just overall very underwhelmed by this book. Not my cuppa I guess.

It has been a while since I read this author, and I am wondering why I stopped. Her storytelling is captivating. Mine for Yours had me hooked, and watch out for the kids, they will get under your skin fast. Lots of feels and heat, as Rylee and Rhodes work through the past and move toward the future.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

This was a super cute single dad + single mom, enemies to lovers romance! I liked it, but I didn’t love it.

I feel like…nothing really happened? I was sort of bored reading until about 70-ish percent. Lots of back and forth on the running of the bar and I didn’t feel like either of the MCs had chemistry with each other. If they hadn’t been running a bar together, I don’t actually think they’d have spent time together.

There’s also no real conflict, so there’s not really much happening besides their kids bantering and Rhodes getting in a wad about his daughter having multiple boyfriends. (She’s seven so it’s cute, playground puppy love.)

All in all, I did like the premise and there were parts I did really enjoy like the bar employees being absolute dude bros, their kids being adorable little nuisances, and no third act breakup!

The Whiskey scene. Hot.

Cute and spicy

Spicy and sweet, this brother's best friend/single parent romance is cute but ultimately a little forgettable. I liked the concept of two single parents who are brought together by the death of the man who connected them. Suddenly business partners after years of barely knowing each other, these two are both grieving and not in the right headspace for love when the book begins. There's some great tension, cute family moments, and sexy banter paired with a whole lot of spice. Personally, I thought the relationship went from zero to one hundred - I was surprised when the first hookup happened, and even more confused when love was suddenly on the table. I had whiplash. This misses on some of the smaller things but delivers on a low angst, steamy story with a bittersweet edge. It ended up landing somewhere between three and four stars for me, but the excellent audio made it fly by.

The story follows Rhodes and Rylee, two people who become a major part of each other's lives after Rylee's brother passes away. As her brother's college friend and business partner, Rhodes never had a reason to interact with Rylee - until now. Both single parents who are grieving the loss of a loved one, they quickly find things to bond over, even as they clash constantly. It doesn't take long for Rhodes to realize that he's attracted to Rylee in a way that he didn't anticipate, and the fact that she is also a single parent makes the situation all the more complicated. Rylee isn't ready to jump into something serious - certainly not with a guy like Rhodes - but he's determined to do his best to win her over.

One thing I really like about Rae's work is that her heroes are usually smitten pretty quick, and this was another instance of that. I loved that Rhodes was all in, and he was a very likable character. I also liked the sexual tension, banter, and plentiful spice. I just... felt like something was missing the whole time. There wasn't that wow factor to hook me; the story is actually low angst and kinda soft for the most part, but the relationship development seemed to happen in the blink of an eye. Not sure if I zoned out during some of the important moments or what, but I just didn't keep up with the changing feelings. There's nothing specific that I didn't like about this one, it simply didn't deliver on the romantic vibes I was hoping for. Plus, neither the brother's best friend nor the single parent tropes felt like they were utilized to their fullest, so I was disappointed in both. I had a decent enough time reading this, but I do think that I'll forget all about it sooner rather than later. So it's a low 4-star/high 3-star read for me.

Audio note: The audio was good! I enjoyed both narrators, and the audio made the story much more immersive and interesting. Joe Arden's voice is great, and he gives an excellent performance. Not really a fan of the way he voiced the kids, but everything else was really good. I'd never heard of Avery Caris prior to this, but she also did a good job. Her voice is easy to listen to, and the audio allowed me to get drawn in. The runtime is perfect for bingeing in a single day, and light enough that it worked well in the format. I can't recommend this one as a workday listen though, because it's not a slow burn, and the spice is blush-inducing. But it's a very solid audio performance, and I do recommend the format overall.

Loved the single mom and single dad being joined together by a shared loss.

The children were hilarious. They stole every scene they were in!

The few sex scenes that were shown were very steamy. That bottle scene🔥🌶🔥🌶😍❤️

The hero was big😉, soft hearted, protective, possessive, tattooed, and a wonderful father.

The heroine was stubborn, sassy/feisty 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄….and that’s what cost this book 2 stars. I felt like the hero was groveling most of the book for being a little cold/detached at the beginning. The heroine had a hang up on his wealth that lasted way too long. Honestly I didn’t like her at the beginning and my opinion didn’t improve much.

Wow…this was…ummmm wow….

You know when you read a book and you can just FEEL your last remaining brain cells disintegrate slowly and painfully?? Yeah this was that kinda book for me…

For one, NO human being speaks the way that these characters spoke at any point in this fucking book. Like…i don’t even know. It just didn’t make sense. No convo flowed naturally whatsoever. It felt like they were talking from an infomercial script half the time.

Secondly, as soon as this man IMPALES HER WITH A GOD DAMN WHISKEY BOTTLE…I was finished. I had emotionally checked out. But I’d gone too far to back down, so I had to finish…and I. DID.

2 stars for decent smut.

This is the first book I've read by Harloe Rae and I am a fan! Single mother AND single father romance?! Yes please!

Rylee moves back home with. her son after her brother's passing to be closer to family and to take over the bar that he owned that was left to her. What she wasn't expecting was to find Rhodes Walsh, her brother's friend and business partner. Rhodes' grumpy demeanor made their initial interactions not go so well, but he was determined to make things right. It didn't take long for him to realize how much he wanted Rylee and she could only hold out for so long before falling for him too.

The tension and spice in this book was amazing! I really enjoyed this read and highly recommend! Can't wait to read more from this author!

AH THIS BOOK WAS SO FREAKING GOOD! Rylee and Rhodes were both dealing with the grief of the loss of a loved one. In the beginning they start as “enemies” but since they have to work together, they try to move forward. Once they let their guard down, they realize they have a beautiful connection and amazing chemistry.

The book had me going through all the emotions. The kids were so adorable. I couldn’t get enough of them. They had me laughing the entire time. Just saying, I wouldn’t be mad it if the kids got their own books 😩 😂
