This was a great book, considering the amount of largely unknown information about the animals of the deep ocean. It boggles me that the deep ocean is the least explored area man has access to, but it makes sense. I am amazed at the strange, sometimes immense, often glowing life that looks more unusual than science fiction. I will always be fascinated by giant squid and pilot whales. When I watch documentaries and see a huge polar bear swim down and kill a seal or walrus that is far too big to be hunted by anything, I am amazed. Then, in my mind I multiply that spectacle by a thousand, and I begin to imagine the daily drama of pilot whale and the giant squid.
A nice resource book for younger readers. Filled with amazing illustrations and photographs, readers will discover the interesting creatures that inhabit the ocean floor. A great book for younger leveled readers.
