How do you develop the eyes of Christ? What steps can you take to grow in prayer, imagination, and discipleship? How do you move forward after your voice has been suppressed, or you've been betrayed? Can lament be a faithful act? What is Christ's intention for the church?
The world's first evangelists were initially accused of "idle talk," but because they persisted, the story that changes everything - the story of the empty tomb and the resurrection - is known and available to everyone. The essayists in Emboldened by Christ continue the bold legacy that began with the women at Jesus' tomb, bringing you fresh insights on spiritual formation and biblical wisdom borne from their experiences as teachers, pastors, parents, daughters, and more.
For anyone who follows Christ, their words are a reminder that a life in Christ may be riddled with wounds and doubts, yet remain faithful and triumphant.
Inside, you are invited to rethink how parents and teachers can disciple children, to expand your holy imagination, to witness people of faith making way for justice and truth, and perhaps, to evolve in your own faith.
I enjoyed reading this collection of essays. It is a great book highlighting the experiential spiritual formation of a faithful life lived as a disciple of Jesus.
Two essays that I deeply value from this collection are “Approaching the Throne of Grace” by Sue Boring and “A Painful Path” by Andrea Corbito. I will continue to come back to these essays for their wisdom on prayer and suffering. It is because of these two essays in particular that I give this book 4 stars.
