So much to love in this tiny little dim sum counting book! On each page, you will see both numeracy and language acquisition concepts at their best. Counting books are a boardbook staple-- but this one counts bilingually AND adds a number line to each page. The number line shows the numeral for the number ie. "4", the Mandarin character for the number, and the Mandarin romanization of the number ie. "si." Similarly, you will see the Mandarin characters for the type of dim sum, the Mandarin romanization, and the word in English ie. "sesame balls." To top it all off, the last spread includes photos of each dim sum dish included in the illustrations. I adore it!

This is a delightful and educational book that introduces children to the world of dim sum through numbers. The story is about a little Bao that explores a dim sum restaurant, counting various delicious dishes along the way. The illustrations are bright and engaging, perfectly capturing the lively atmosphere of a dim sum restaurant. This book teaches children about counting and numbers while also exposing them to a different culture and cuisine. It's a fun and engaging way for children to learn about numbers and Chinese cuisine.

Counting...and getting very hungry! This 'count to ten' book uses different types of dim sum as objects to count. Now I am really going to have to call a friend and go to my favorite place to get some dim sum! I can honestly say that I think I can count to ten in Mandarin - which is pretty good for an old guy like me!

I want to read with someone who speaks Chinese so I can make sure I am getting my pronunciation right. But this book is definitely a must for families who seek to speak multiple languages in the home!
