They’ve helped cops make their cases. Now they fear for their lives…

Jordan and Ellie have little time to deal with the events surrounding Jordan’s biological father. A young woman is missing, and Ellie is determined to bring her home safe. Meanwhile, one of their informants is shot in plain daylight, another wounded, and they soon discover that these might not be isolated incidents.

Who is coming after the women and men who have provided them with crucial information?

As the threads unravel, Jordan and Ellie learn that the answer might lie closer to home than they think…

Another great reading. I so missed Ellie and Jordan! All the gang for that matter.

And couldn't help but feel what happened here is going to resonate, it left me with a feeling of "unfinished business". And even though I'm dreading the day this series will end, I cannot wait to see all these fuckers dead or behind bars FOREVER!!!!!

p.s.: I'm not a Kathryn fan (if was me I'd be NC), but I felt a bit for her this time lol

Another good suspenseful story.

Jordan and Ellie are dealing with a lot; besides the usual cases, they are dealing with Jordan’s biological father; but when the people that have been helping them started being in danger, they know there is something wrong and probably not unrelated. As they dig further, they discover that the can of worms they’re opening goes deeper and closer than they imagine. Will they be ever to save the people who have helped as long as their friends?

The previous book left the door open for this one, which I knew was going to be another intriguing and wild ride. I wasn’t wrong, this book had a very interesting plot and the development got me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

As I’ve said before, is always good to see our favourite pair of detectives back and with a new mystery to solve. The plot is a good thriller that keeps readers interested, in reaching the big revelation of the mystery.

Sometimes a lot is going on and is not easy to keep up, but as you keep reading and the cases are progressing, you just want to keep going, enjoying the suspense and development.

I loved the Easter egg, that was interesting and a good memory.

As with the other books in the series is recommended to read the previous ones in order, to understand thoroughly the context, as well as the earlier events.

This is another interesting book, filled with suspense and an intricate plot. If you have enjoyed the other books in the series, you can’t miss this one.

I received an ARC for an honest review

This is my first book of the series and I found it so interesting that I plan to go back and read all the other books. It was fast-paced with lots of twists and turns. The characters were well developed. That was especially important not having read any of the other books in the series. I have read other books written by Ms. Winkes and I very much enjoyed them as well. This can be read as a standalone but I think starting with the first book in the series would be a good idea because then you can get all the background of all the characters. I will be going back and reading the rest of the series from the beginning.

several baddies seem intent on either escaping entirely, or having a last hurrah that makes the biggest awful impact on the investigating officers

folks close to Carpenter and Harding suffer some losses- a few are fatal

a complex network of deceit and power must be dismantled for Ellie, Jordan and close friends and associates to be safe, and threats and harm strike close

suspense filled thriller and action

Can’t Go Wrong with Carpenter/Harding

Solving crimes with Carpenter and Harding is a wonderful pastime. Barbara Winkes out does herself with each story in this series. Informants is a great murder/mystery.

too complicated

Hard to follow. I think there were too many characters which made it difficult to keep up with the story.
