The Valuable Dragon
“The Valuable Dragon” is an exciting adventure story about Dewey the Dragon and his quest to find his treasure. As a guardian, Dewey is eager to have his own treasure to protect. After finding the perfect map, he sets out with his dad to Majestic Mountain. The journey is challenging and at times dangerous. The cave is dark and mysterious. But Dewey’s determination leads him to the treasure chest filled with gold coins, gemstones, and even a goblet and golden crown!
On the way home, when his chest starts sliding down the mountain, Dewey risks his own life to save it. This thrilling story is perfect for kids who love adventure, treasure hunts, and dragons. The Valuable Dragon is a picture book by Ron Brooks, and illustrated by Shazeb Khan. It is part of the “The Adventures of Dewey the Dragon” series. In this book, Dewey is excited to go hunting for treasure. So, with the help of his family, he prepares for a long journey, and goes hunting for treasure.
My first thought is that it’s a lovely book. Dewey is such a lovely character, with a positive attitude towards adventuring. His family are supportive and eager to help him. The ending is pretty sweet as well. The book aims to teach kids, as well as parents (guardians, etc) that people’s lives are more important than any treasure. This is useful for a couple of reasons. Mainly because it shows kids their parent(s)’ love for them, and how much their life means to a parent. And I think it’s also an important lesson because it can encourage kids to think about the value of a life vs. the value of possessions. I definitely think it’s something that can be thought-provoking for readers, and can encourage them to think of how important friends and family can be.
The illustrations have such a beautiful charm to them. They are so well done, and the artist has done beautiful work on the book. I love getting to see the happy faces of all the dragons, as well as all the cool stuff they get to do while they’re on their adventure. I love the scenery of the book. It looks like a wonderful place to be.
Overall, I think it’s a good book, with a pretty positive message. Both the author and illustrator have done great work on this book.

THE VALUABLE DRAGON by Ron Brooks follows Dewey the Dragon and his father, as little Dewey searches for a treasure of his own. Dragons are the protectors of the treasure, and Dewey wants a treasure to protect, so with the help of his father, Dewey goes in search of his treasure, only to discover his life is more important to his father, than the trinkets of diamonds and gold.
THE VALUABLE DRAGON is a cute and charming adventure story focusing on personal value and self-worth. The images are colourful and bright; the language is better suited for children over five years of age; the text resembles ‘comic sans’.

Dewey the Valuable Dragon is such a wonderful tool to help you show and share the worth of people. This book will spark conversations about your child's worth and dignity to you and to God. It would be easy for parents or teachers to introduce the idea of being made in the image of God after reading this sweet book. The illustrations are charming and quickly cause you to fall in love with Dewey. There is such joy in his expression. I hope to read more Dewey books with my kids soon. I highly recommend Dewey the Valuable Dragon for families and classrooms alike.

This is a sweet story and a good reminder that the true treasures in life are far more valuable than the things that sparkle and shine. Dewey overcomes many obstacles only to learn that he is true treasure.

Cute story with a great message!
Just read this with my almost 5 year old. We both thought it was cute! I love that they included some engagement questions which some parents struggle with.
