Cauldrons Call, by New York Times bestselling author Kristen Proby, is the highly-anticipated second book in The Curse of the Blood Moon series.

Breena has known Giles all her life—and has loved him for nearly as long. Linked by the ties of family and coven, Breena has had a lifetime to discover everything there is to know about him. His intelligence and specialization in crystals and gems are truly things to admire, but it’s how he smiles at her that really makes her cauldron bubble. Too bad he’s completely oblivious.

Giles isn’t as oblivious as Breena thinks he is. A powerful witch, he’s spent most of his life hiding his true feelings from her, but he can’t ignore the fact that she’s hurting and plagued by the same nightmares that haunt him every night. So, getting her to move in with him so he can do just that seems like simple common sense. The hard part will be resisting the way Breena makes him feel.

But evil has invaded their world, and it has the power to kill every witch in Salem. Breena has no time to wallow in what might have been and Giles desire to protect her is stronger than the power contained in his crystals . Together they must lift the curse of the blood moon before time runs out. If they can’t, the people Breena loves the most are all in danger. It will take every skill she’s honed as a witch to protect what’s hers and the man who cast a spell on her heart.

Will they have time to kindle their love for each other, or will the clock run out at the hands of fate?

Full of spooky delights and witchy treats Cauldrons Call was just what I was hoping to get in book two of The Curse of the Blood moon series by Kristen Proby.

I could tell in book one of this series Hallows End that Breena was the cousin with her heart fully invested in the man who was to be hers. There was no hesitancy she was just all in.

Giles on the other hand took some convincing but even I think he knew that Breena as always meant to be his. Whether it was by fate or design once he found out her feelings, he knew that he was all in.

This book picks up close to where book one left off and the cousins know that the evil isn't fully eradicated, but they do believe they have some time. Time to form a plan until the next Samhain but the evil that has been lurking around isn't going to wait, he is going to get what he believes he is owed.

Parts of this book were just a bit of filler, but I found I didn't mind it all. It was still very much a five star listen for me and that could have had something to do with Sebastian York and Samantha Brentmoor. They did a fantastic job with the narration of the first book so I had no doubts this narration would be just as good.

We only have a few months until the release of Salems Song the last book in the series and Kirsten Proby has hyped up Xander and Lorelei's past so much I am on pins and needles waiting for it.

Breena Hazen is a hearth witch and has been in love with Giles for most of her life. When tasked with a project needed in order for them to possibly break the curse, Breena reluctantly moves into Giles’ house. Being an empath, she’s always in-tuned to the emotions around her.

Giles Corey never thought he stood a chance with the beautiful Breena. After an awkward admission of her interest, he will do everything he can to prove he feels the same. But danger and malice are still lurking, and the coven will need to ban together to cast out the evil.

5 magical stars! I love this series and Kristen Proby’s paranormal writing style. It is complex, interesting, and captivating. You will fall in love with all the characters and root them on. Breena is so sweet and a total people pleaser. Giles is the sexy, nerdy, gemstone guru. They are the perfect match for each other. I can’t wait for the conclusion of this series!

These series from Kristen Proby are just perfect.

In this book we have Brenna and Giles story. They've been friends for a long time and it turns out they both have been in love with each other. But of course no one wanted to admit it.

The evil is still lurking around and waiting for the next victim. The MC's are trying to stop it with the help of their friends.

In the meantime there is a romance brewing between Brena and Giles, because both of them decided that they want to be happy.

There was a good amount of romance and passion. Which I adored reading.

I loved the book. When it comes to Kristen Proby's books the stories are flowing like a light breeze.

I can't wait for book 3 - Lorelei and Xander. This will be awesome for sure. I hope that it comes out soon.

***I received an ARC from Valentine PR and this is my honest opinion.***

2.5 stars rounded down

Rating this book is not easy. It was a pleasant read, but there is just not enough happening, close to nothing even. And it feels like when something seems to be bubbling, it is immediately smothered.

So while, again, it was a pleasant read, there just isn’t enough depth / material in it to be rated on the same scale as most other books.
I will be listening to book 3 to know how this all ends though.

I absolutely love the way Kristen tells a paranormal romance story. Each book is better than the last with new twists and turns and a mystery to figure out. And the cherry on top is the love story weaved throughout.

Giles and Breena have each silently liked the other but neither acted on it. In a twist of fate pushing them closer they finally find what the heart has been missing. But along the way there is lots of creepy happenings making their journey a little bumpy. Giles and Breena have loads of chemistry and a sweet love that will just make your heart full.

This story will give some answers but open new questions. I am looking forward to Xander and Lorelei’s story. I can't wait for the conclusion and some more answers.

I love this series so far ! The spooky witchy goodness is so much fun to read. Breena and Giles are so sweet and I’m so glad they come together and realize they are made for each other.. The coven is on one of the most nerve wracking journeys and it keeps you wanting to turn the page to see what happens next. I can’t wait for book 3 !

Another lovely, and bewitching paranormal romance by Kristen Proby. This second book in the series was entertaining, with the same delightful characters trying to fight off the same evil entity from the first book in the series. I admit I liked the first book better. The insta love was a bit unbelievable but it ended up working for the story.

This is the second book in The Curse of the Blood Moon series which takes us back to the magical world of witches, curses and supernatural evil that will have you immersed in the story you'll be begging for more.

Brenna and Giles are fated to be together yet they hide their feelings for one another until they end up living under the same roof. But as we've seen in the previous book the evil that lurks between the pages will test their relationship, as well as the coven.

Kristen Proby has one again made me fall deeper in love with this story, these characters and her amazing writing. If you haven't started this series, why not? Do you love fated mates, paranormal romance, unrequited love..... then what are you waiting for!!

Cauldron's Call is the second book in The Curse of the Blood Moon series that follows 3 cousins in Salem. It's full of magic, curses, witches and the evil that is following this family and them trying to defeat it. While I think these books could be read as standalones, they are better read in order.

Book 2 is about Breena and Giles and in the previous book, it was let out that Breena has had feelings for Giles for a long time. Theirs is a story of fated mates of friends to lovers that are getting a chance to let their feelings show and coming together through forced proximity. There is a bit of an age difference and that was the only reason Giles never acted on his attraction to Breena, but it appears that his family and hers knew that they were meant to be. After moving in with Giles to have strength in numbers and keeping Breena safe, these two give into their feelings and finally come together.

I have enjoyed the magical world that Kristen Proby has created from these witches. The evil has tested each of them and has kept them on their toes, using their spells and knowledge to keep that evil at bay. And while Breena, Giles and the others have defeated the evil at each corner, it still is out there. I can't wait to see where the story will go next with Zander and Lorelei's story.

If you like paranormal focusing on witches, friends to lovers, forced proximity with a touch of age gap, this story will be a fun one to add to your TBR. And if you have the chance to listen to the audio, Sebastian York is perfect as Giles. He is the kind but focused witch the you can't help but love and Sebastian performs that well. And Samantha Brentmoor is sweet as Breena. She's such a kind witch that is always questioning herself and Samantha's performance really gets that across.

Looking forward to the final book and how everything comes full circle and the evil is finally defeated.

Cauldrons Call (The Curse of the Blood Moon, #2) by Kristen Proby

M/F Paranormal romance
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

This is the second book in the series and I definitely recommend that you read book 1 first. If you don't, you would be quite lost in the story and what happened to get to book 2.

This is Breena's book. Since book 1, she's feeling slightly off kilter and needs to be surrounded by people who love her. Even though she's had a crush on Giles for years, she never told him. When it comes out, Breena doesn't know whether to be mad or relieved.

Giles doesn't know how he's not noticed Breena that way in so long. Of course he's noticed her, but really seeing her took what happened in book 1 for him to truly see her.

These two have a long, arduous road ahead of them. With evil lurking in every corner and the doorway to a different dimension on the brink of opening, Giles, Breena and everyone in the coven will need to draw on all of their skills to fight the evil that's coming.

This is a sweet romance between Giles and Breena. They have an amazing foundation of friendship that helps their romance blossom in a more natural way. You'll cheer them on in both their fight for love and their fight to survive.

I can't wait for book 3...I have a feeling that it's going to be even more epic than the first 2.

A fantastic paranormal romance and the second book in the Curse of the Blood Moon trilogy. Kristen Proby has given her readers an amazing friends to lovers tale with a supernatural vibe as an ominous unknown evil entity lurks in the background just waiting for the opportunity to pounce on the hapless lovers at the first sign of weakness. Giles and Breena have been in love with each other for what seems like forever not realising how the other felt and not willing to risk their friendship until the shared threat draws them closer and forces them to admit their feelings.

Set in the atmospheric town of Salem, Cauldron’s Call drew me in right from the start as the entity played psychological mind games with the hero and heroine so much so that now, when I hear something go bump in the night I’m tempted to reach for the sage instead of just shrugging it off as I’d normally do. Kristen has created fantastic characters who draw you in making you care what happens to them. Giles and Breena make a sweet couple and I’m picturing Giles as having a bit of an absent minded professor air about him which I’m finding surprisingly appealing and the secondary characters all bring their own spin on the story. The plot that began in the first book continues here with the threat against the witches ever present and growing stronger with each passing day with no one is safe from its machinations all leading up to the finale up next in Lorelei and Zander’s book

I was so excited to read this book because I really enjoyed book one when I read it last year, and while it was cute and magical, I think this instalment suffered from middle book syndrome.

Since the main plot is interconnected within the series, this book fell flat with the mystery of the big bad. There was too much set-up for the next book in the series and it took away from the current plot. Also, friends-to-lovers is not my preferred trope especially when paired with the insta-love trope because there was virtually no tension between Breena and Giles (our main characters). I think if there was a slower mutual pining burn between them it would have been more satisfying in the end.

While the tropes were not my favorite, I still very much loved the found family and the whimsical magic system. This book gives "camp" vibes and I can't explain it but it's so fun and ridiculous to read. These six people and their coven love each other and it was so great to see such a unified community. Alsooooo I am looking forward to reading the finale book because it's going to center around my fave couple (Xander and Lora <3 ) and I can't wait for it!!

Thank you Valentine PR for the advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review. Cauldrons Call is out now!

Once again, Kristen takes us into a realm with witches and nails the story! I was hooked from the first page! Giles and Breena will win your heart in this one, while fighting the evil that has come into their world. 5 witchy stars for this one!
Breena has crushed on Giles for some time now, and when her crush was revealed, she was so embarrassed. When at first it seems Giles wasn't interested in her, he reveals his true feelings when she appears to be in danger.
There story will take you on twists and turns, and you'll fall for these two, and love the world their living in! If the title scares you a bit, no need to worry, Kristen writes these stories and interweaves her words and creates characters that make you just fall in love with them and the witch world they live in! Don't miss out on these stories!

GAH!!!! I can't believe a book startled me, scared me. The evil stalking Lucy, Breena, Lorelei, and their partners would have had me running for the hills. Shaking in my boots. They are determined to defeat it and have their happily ever afters. They will have to work hard to make it happen. Lucky for me, I just had to read page after glorious page to see what happened next. No witch powers were required.

Witches are now accepted in modern day Salem, Massachusetts. In fact it is a booming business for many in the Salem coven. But things are changing. The unexplained is occurring. Lives have been lost. It doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon. In book one we got a glimpse of what was happening. In book two it is so much worse.

Grab some popcorn so you don't bite your nails. Keep the lights on. Make sure to lock the doors. I am ready to grab the salt and cleanse my home. All of this is because the author wrote such a believable paranormal story.

Thankfully it wasn't all "deer in the headlights" moments. Love is blooming for Breena and Giles. Long time crushes will be rewarded. Evil cannot destroy everything, at least for now. I honestly don't know what to expect in the conclusion for Curse of the Blood Moon. I do know I am buying a security blanket to use while reading it.

The evil that plagues them is even more determined than ever to take them down. He torments and manipulates and will stop at nothing to get what he wants, but love finds a way, and Giles and Breena fall more in love every day. The six of them will have their work cut out for them to end the curse and vanquish the evil that has killed for hundreds of years. Excited for th3 conclusion!

We continue this series where we left off in book 1. The coven is still trying to lift the curse for Hallows End, and they also know that 𝑖𝑡 is still out there. Unfortunately the coven has not as much time as they hoped to have.
Breena moves into Giles’ house, as her cottage is still with lots of bad energy from everything that has happened before. It turns out that not only Breena has a crush on Giles, no, Giles is in love with her as well.
Together they fight against the incidents 𝑖𝑡 causes. Can they finally fight 𝑖𝑡 and release the spell?

This book had me enthralled from the first page and I hardly put it down. It’s written perfectly, and personally I had a feeling I live among the main characters. I had goosebumps from head to toe during certain scenes, and not just once! Not kidding. That book was IT for me.

I can already sense an epic book 3 coming for us, and I can hardly wait to see what Mrs Proby has in store for us!

Fated soul mates, a supernatural killer and magic.

Kristen Proby's latest edition to the Curse of the Blood Moon series picks up where we left off. While things have been quiet for a short bit, things begin to spike when Breena moves in with Giles.

Giles and Breena are soul mates. They both had been harboring hidden feelings since childhood so seeing them come together made my heart happy.

The story has a flow that shows how love and family can conquer power. The town is alive and it is beautiful to see.

Kristen weaves together her beautiful storytelling with historical and mystical elements that are fun to read and root for.

heads up - this review may contain spoilers!!

GENRE: paranormal romance
TROPES|TAGS: friends to lovers // fated mates // unrequited love // witches // magic
POV: multi
CLIFFHANGER: yes!
HEA: we'll see!

So this story picks up right after book one - Hallows End! But this book is continued from the POV of about Breena and Giles. We still see Lucy, Jonas, Lorelei and Zander, as well!

I have to say that in the first two books, there's not that much tension between both couples and that's because both pairs are fated mates. SO, if you're not into insta love, these books might not be it for you. I, however, don't mind a bit of instant connections/relationships from time to time!

At the end of book one, Giles was told Breena has been in love with him since for a long, long time and that finally opened his eyes to what he's felt for her all along 🥰😫 Giles did anything and everything to protect Breena from the beginning to the end and you can't help but love him for it.

“You’ve brought something home to me every day this week.” I bury my nose in a blossom to fuss over it a little. “Yesterday, it was my favorite coffee. Today, it’s flowers. Are you trying to romance me or something?”
“Well, look at that.” He leans in to kiss my cheek. “She’s finally catching on.”

I really love the friendships and coven aspect of this series. They're all so protective and supportive. They'll do whatever it takes for each other and it's PRECIOUS. Especially when you're up against an evil.. spirt? demon? whatever it was, it actually really creeped me out 😂😅 like got the chills a few times.

While this book was a good addition to the who saga.....I really just wanted to get to Lorelei and Zander's book 😬 I JUST NEED TO KNOW WHY THEIR RELATIONSHIP IS SO STRAINED AND WHAT ZANDER DID TO MAKE LORELEI ACT THE WAY SHE HAS BEEN.

Update: 3 Stars — I am here for the vibes and vibes alone. Also these are short and I’m behind on my reading goal.

3.5 Stars? — These books scratch a very specific, witchy itch! That said, I wish that they were longer and had more in the way of character development/romantic build. If the premise is that you’ve loved him since you were fourteen, I want more backstory! If she’s loved you since she was fourteen and now you suddenly notice her, I want to know what flipped for you! TLDR; more backstory/mutual pining please!

Breena's had a crush on her friend and fellow witch, Giles, for a long time now. It was bearable when it was her secret, but now that her other friend has let the cat out of the bag, she isn't sure how to act around him. It's even harder now that everyone around her, concerned, has convinced her to move into his home while they figure out how to get rid of the evil that's plaguing their community. How will this forced proximity affect their friendship? Will it fan the flames and ignite their attraction? Or will her embarrassment at her unrequited feelings keep them from becoming more?

Giles is seeing Breena in a whole new light. Well, he's always had stronger feelings for her, but she was too young and he didn't want to jeopardize their friendship. Now that they're working together to get rid of the monster coming for them, and living in the same house, he's finding it hard to resist giving into their feelings. How can he protect Breena, get rid of the evil around them, and deal with an evolving relationship all at the same time?

Breena and Giles have a sweet love story, juxtaposed with a very creepy overarching storyline, a contrast that I love. Breena is a sweet person, a powerful witch who just wants everyone she loves to be safe. Giles is also a powerful witch, with loads of lore and knowledge of gems, who also wants to get rid of the force out there menacing everyone he too loves. There's an epilogue hinting at more creepy to come and I'm here for it! This series is so awesome, I can't wait for Lorelei and Xander's story, Curse of the Blood Moon, now.

This is the second book in the series, and I definitely recommend that you read book one first. If you don't, you will be quite lost in the story and what happened to get to book two.

This is the second book in the series, and you most definitely need to read them in order to understand the underlying plot, as well as the intricacies of all the relationships. I am assuming you have in my review.

As danger is still present in modern day Salem, I spent a good part of this book thinking, “I wouldn't be going there on my own!” I loved the low-level tension which that added to the book, as these powerful witches worked to prepare for the threat to their lives, and to change the past. Alongside, and due to this, Breena has to confront her embarrassment at the fact that her childhood crush was revealed to Giles, and move forward. Luckily that move is together not apart, although he remains the gentleman for as long as he can! I really enjoyed the carefulness with which they act, and the honesty of their love for each other. It was clear that the coven were expecting it, but as in other inevitable romances, patience that it would happen at the right time.

I enjoyed this installment, and the situation is clearly not entirely resolved, so already looking forward to the next – and hoping that another couple in particular will find their way together soon!

𝕊𝕦𝕤𝕡𝕖𝕟𝕤𝕖𝕗𝕦𝕝 𝕒𝕟𝕕 ℙ𝕠𝕨𝕖𝕣𝕗𝕦𝕝 𝕎𝕚𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕪 𝕄𝕒𝕘𝕚𝕔 😍

This one is book 2 in the Curse of the Blood Moon Series and follows Giles and Breena as the main couple.

Although, it can be read as a standalone yet to better follow the plot and events happening, I'd highly recommend and advise to read book 1 before starting this one.

Giles and Breena had me excited right from book 1 where we get to see that Breena always has had a huge crush on Giles.
But Giles, the gems and Crystals expert and with a quiet personality who never spoke much, doesn't even give off an inkling of whether he likes Breena or not.

After what happened to Breena at the end of book 1, she has to let go of her house even though it was her very dream home.
When Giles offers her his small room above his shop she readily accepts while denying his offer to be his roommate.

But now extremely scary and nightmare inducing things are happening like crazy fearful visions and dreams that are your worst fears playing out.
This puts everyone on high alert and knowing that the evil entity they thought they destroyed is only back and is worst.

Giles and Breena, who are themselves powerful witches join forces with Breena's cousins, Lucy and Lorelei, the plant witch and the sea witch alongwith Lucy's Husband from Hallow's end and Lorelei's love-hate soulmate to find a solution and destroy these evil entity.

So begins their search of enraveling the mystery and going through all sorts of spells and magic and healing crystals and so much more to conquer the evil once and for all.

Ahhh.. Among this all though, the sweet and budding romance of Giles and Breena totally had me cheering for them and sighing, for Breena getting her crush and also for how well they fit together like they are made for each other.

This one was full of so much Intrigue and suspense and magic that you wouldn't know what to expect next while experiencing sweet love amongst all the turmoil.

It was also so much fun learning about the different kinds of Crystals and their powers and how their energies can affect someone.

This was definitely a thrilling journey that had me wide-eyed and sometimes scared and sometimes gasping in surprise over the next twist.

I'm so excited for the next book and our enemies and want to be lovers duo of Lorelei and Xander. I so want to see them together and don't understand why there is so much anger between them when obviously they do love each other.

Also, I can't wait to find out what's going to happen with Hallow's End. Will they finally be relieved of the curse and how will they ever break this curse that has no solution in sight. So much of excitement, the conclusion has me already gearing up for it. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Another incredible book in this paranormal romance series!! This is the 2nd book in the series and I couldn’t wait to see how everything introduced in book 1, Hallow’s End continued! This storyline continues to be mysterious, suspenseful, enchanting and kept me fascinated page after page! It’s got magic, witches, a supernatural entity, ongoing curse, and fated soulmates! Kristen Proby knows how to tell a story that keeps you completely fascinated and engaged!!

This book begins right where Hallow’s End concluded! I HIGHLY suggest reading that book first to fully grasp and understand everything that is happening when this book beings. Everyone is still trying to come up with how to break the Curse of the Blood Moon while things are calm. They are also still dealing with the aftermath of a supernatural killer who is still out there. In this book , I love how the whole family is coming together to figure this out and working as one as everything transpires throughout the story!

“I know, without a doubt, that you were made to be mine. That we were meant to live this life together. And that’s what I intend to do.”

While everything is happening, this book focuses on Breena and Giles. Breena has been in love with Giles Corey since she was a little girl, but it was a secret she kept to herself. However, now it was made known to him and she is horrified. Now, after something horrible happened to her at her house in Hallow’s End, Giles wants her to move in so he can help protect her. Little does she know, Giles has always wanted her too, but she was younger than him so he didn’t think he could have her. While their new forced proximity helps their romance to grow, paranormal things begin to happen throughout the town, the house and Gile’s shop. The supernatural elemental of this book combined with the romance and mystery made this book so intriguing that I couldn’t put it down! I cannot wait for the last book in this series to see how everything wraps up! Such a remarkable paranormal romance series!

The audio of this book is SPECTACULAR! Samantha Brentmoor and Sebastian York continue to completely transport you into this world of this series with their voices! I may or may not have even gotten a little spooked sometimes because they make the setting and characters feel so real as if you’re right there with them! Samantha completely embodied Breena’s personality perfectly while Sebastian’s gruff and deep voice matched the strong and protective Giles! I am absolutely loving the audio of this series as it completely brings this series to life!

Book 2 in this Curse of the Blood Moon series, and this picks up right after book 1, Hallow's End, so make sure you've read this first.

Another thrilling witchy read for me, captivating from the start, loving the characters, their lives in Salem and all the magic, mystery and suspense surrounding this story line!

Breena is the second of 3 witchy sisters in this series, she is the hearth witch and with what happened in book 1, she no longer feels safe in her own little cottage. She has grown up with Giles, he is older, but she has always had a crush on him, he is oblivious and she has never let on. But Giles steps up with an offer to let her move in with him - they have always been friends, he also has had feelings for Breena for a long time but keeps them hidden, never thinking he had a chance with her himself.

Breena, Giles and the rest of the coven are still working hard to remove the curse on Hallow's End, but Breena is still having nightmares, maybe the evil that they thought they had got rid of in book 1 is still around a little?

I love this couple, they are so well suited together - Breena is a people pleaser, such a caring and loving soul, but a powerful witch in her own right. She loves Giles and hopes he makes a move on her as she wouldn't know where to start that for herself! Giles is a loving and protective friend to Breena, but again does not think he has much of a chance with her, and tries to keep his desire away from her, until she lets on that she's wants to take their friendship further. He has his own shop in Salem that specialises in crystals and gemstones, which I adore about him.

The threat from the evil entity hots up in this one, with plenty of things going bump in the night, doors slamming and goodness knows what else, enough to keep you on the edge of your seat as you will the coven along in their race against time to defeat it.

A great read from start to finish, a very captivating story line detailing the lives of the witches in the coven which was fascinating to read. Looking forward to the 3rd book in this to see how it all plays out! Highly recommended reading.
