C’était un fake dating sympa dans le milieu universitaire mais tout aller super vite c’était un peu too much et le smut svp c’était gênant à souhait 🥴

Raisons pour laquelle le livre ne méritait, selon moi, pas un 3/5🙁

The book is definitely a MUST READ.
I’m not really interested in football but this book was really good, and the characters are interesting.

Okay

For what it was it was okay. I understand that it’s short so conflict between the cousins couldn’t be like really hashed out nor could it be a more engaging conflict, but if you get past some of the plot holes that weren’t flushed out it was OK.

Another fantastic love story for An up & coming footballer.

Here we Meet The latest Quarterback for the Panthers from Copper Grove College Jackson 'The Freak' Jennings whom needs a little Tutoring & he ambushes his Cousin Aaron's lesson with Nursing Student Willow Pender.
Willow has no clue who Freak is but she does know who Aaron is as she's had the hots for Him since she first laid eyes on him, but things changes between the 2 of them quite quickly & it's the relationship between these 2 that is opening until Her roommate Kia stirs things up but it's the way Willow & Jackson deals with it.....

This is book six in The Nighthawk Series and it is Freak (Jackson) and Willow's story and omg it is definitely a must read. Willow wants to be a nurse and she tutors on the side to make extra money and she is looking forward to tutoring and getting close to Aaron who she has had a crush on for three year's even if it means giving up her holiday break as it will definitely be worth it only things don't go as planned because it is Freak who is a football player who shows up throwing Willow for a complete loop. Freak is one of the hottest football player's but he needs to pass his class in order to graduate and he has heard that Willow is the best tutor so his professor switched Aaron for Freak but Willow doesn't look very pleased with the situation at all. When Freak offers to get Willow a date with Aaron she decides to tutor him and that is how there agreement starts but what happens when Willow gets butterflies for the wrong person which caused things to get even more complicated. Wow this series just gets better and better with each book written and this book is definitely one of my reads as I couldn't put it down and had to keep turning the pages wondering what would happen next and it had great characters and a storyline that pulled you in and kept your attention throughout and it was so addictive and with the outcome that I was hoping for. Lisa Lang Blakeney is an amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention and I definitely recommend you read this book and other's by her and you will not be disappointed.

I Voluntarily Reviewed a Copy of This Book.

I didn't realise going in that this was a novella but that kind of explains the rushed feel to this. I enjoyed it but it was written as though the FMC and MMC were really getting to know each other properly and their relationship was developing when in reality something like a week had passed. It was honestly sectioned into Week 1, Week 2, Week 3 and Week 4 and Willow was always going on about how much time they were spending together, and we were only in week 2. Honestly the timeline was just bogus and didn't serve the story at all. Especially when Willow spoke about going home for Christmas at the last minute because her mom was working but then had been there for a week when she was back for the Christmas day game. Nothing really added up.

Add to that the fact that 'Freak' had barely done any work with Willow after their first week and had to write multiple papers before the end of the break. And then wasn't seeing her and nothing was mentioned about him studying at all (just drinking) and miraculously he submitted all his papers before Christmas? And it was never mentioned that he did any work with her or without her? It's like a story of events from 3 or 4 months were compressed into a 4 week period. And I'm not talking instalove story, I'm talking actual day to day life story. It didn't add up for me.

Despite this it was a relatively easy read if you can ignore timescales and Willow running hot and cold and seeming a bit like a robot. Not my favourite and I don't think I'll be reading more in the series right away.

Let me just say, I wasn't disappointed in this story at all!

When we meet Willow Pender, she's an excellent no non-sense, by the book student and an old soul. When she decides to engineer a meeting with her crush Aaron, the set-up doesn't go exactly as planned, instead of Aaron, she gets his cousin, the football god, better known as Freak, whose real name is Jackson Jennings who needs help passing his College Writing 101 class.

After a couple of well-pointed questions, he peeps her game and offers a solution where they can both get what they want—a passing grade for him, and for her, a chance for Aaron to really see her so he can ask her out. Things, of course, don't go exactly as planned and after they share a public passionate kiss all in the name of optics, Willow is confused—Aaron who?—because Jackson's kiss felt very, very real and not fake at all.

I enjoyed the dual pov in this story ... what doesn't exactly work is the pivotal where Willow asks a question of Jackson that she already knows the answer to because she was given the complete story. Nonetheless, Jackson is a person who knows how to perserver under less than ideal circumstances and his commitment to football and Willow is inspiring. Highly Recommended: Read It!

Disappointing.
Compared to the other books in this series, this one came across as amateurishly written. It didn't ha e the same quality and was filled with proofreading errors. It seemed to be churned out quickly with little regard to storyline, character quality or presentation. Pay for a de entry proofreader, please!!!!
As to the characters.....they were trashy and slutty. The language was atrocious, and their behaviour in public in regards to sex was very gutter level cheap. Based on this story alone, I would not recommend this series. I'll try another book and hope that this one was just a mistake by the author, but please, consider your audience next time and protect your reputation as a decent writer. Based on what you have written outside of this book, you have built up a good reputation as a decent author, so you deserve to retain it and not throw it away on simplistic garbage.

Freak is a mixture of smug, obnoxious, and fun. I loved his personality, especially at the beginning when he first met Willow. That first chapter had me laughing. Their first encounter was epic cuteness.

The dynamic between Freak and Willow was perfect. He needed a tutor and wanted the best. Willow was the best. They made a deal. Which went epically south for Freak after he kissed Willow. She's still hung up on Aaron (Freaks cousin).

Did Freak and Aaron have issues? Absolutely. Did their situation overtake the story? No. Some families have issues. Those issues never get resolved.

The situation with Freak his freshman year to me was blown up way more than it should have. Even then it added to the story. Road of forgiveness and him knowing that he truly wanted Willow by his side.

this was actually pretty good. what started as a slightly enemies to lovers style thing, very qickly spiralled into a turtor, tutuoree fake dating romance. it reminded me a lot of the deal, but if it was with football insead of hockey. the romance between the main charcaters was really sweet, and while there were defintly things i didnt like about both chrcaters, like freaks sexual past and drinking probelm, and teach's judgement and desensitization to love, they mixed well together to become better people and develop over the story. i dont think i would ever read this book again, but i think if you enjoyed the deal by elle kennedy, this would be a good one to check out! give it a read if you like smutty, cute sport romances!

3.5

This university-set romance offers a classic friends-to-lovers storyline filled with young drama. The plot centers around a girl who is supposed to tutor her crush but ends up tutoring his friend instead. The twist is that the friend likes her and tries to help her get together with his friend, but she ultimately falls for him.

It's fast-paced and a quick read, making it perfect for those who enjoy an easy, entertaining story. While it’s engaging and has its moments, it might feel a bit predictable and the character development could be deeper. Overall, it’s a solid, enjoyable read for fans of romance and drama, even if it doesn’t break new ground.

Spice lvl is on low with only a few scene. I found it different to the others in this series

Jackson is chasing Willow!

Nursing student Willow Pender is going to spend her break tutoring one student that she has a crush on since she started college. It’s win since she’ll earn some money and she finally get to meet her dream but that changes when Jackson “The Freak” Jennings finds out that he needs to finish his delayed College Writing 101 class that he took an incomplete as a freshman.

I enjoyed reading Freak because Freak was the one trying to get Willow to tutor him and not his cousin Aaron Hill because he wanted to get closer to Willow even though she had no idea who he was because she was only interested in getting her degree.

CW: alcohol abuse

I picked this one up thinking that it would it the spot that Blind Side did. I was hoping it would feed the need, but it fell a little short. I think mostly it was due to the fact this was a novella. Freak and Willow are nice characters, but things are rushed. I do like that Blakeney made an effort to show that they were discovering more about each other outside of their mutual lust. There just seemed to be open-ended threads of the story. Overall, this was nice but didn't give me the hit I was looking for.

This was a quick and fast read. I liked seeing Willow starting to explore who she is outside is being a nursing student and i liked that Jackson is more than just a football player. Not much, but his focus on Willow was enough to make me want a guy to focus on me like that. I think I'm getting a bit too old to read college age books because their issues that arise made me miss college problems, but I loved being able to get both characters viewpoints.

Enjoyed this read and may dive into more in this series!

❤️ goes to Freak

Jackson Freak Jennings needs a tutor to help him in class. He finds the best tutor on campus, Willow.

She only agrees to tutor him so he can help her get to know his cousin. The more time she spends with Freak the less she finds the cousin appealing.

There is something about a big guy like Freak that has a soft spot that makes me all warm and melting for him.

He will do every thing possible to make his feelings known to Willow and everyone else that she is the one.

Such a swoon worthy story and a football player and his tutor.

If you love sports romance, then you will love Freaks and Willows story!

Freak needs to pass his class and Willow is a the best tutor. So he purposely steals his cousins session to try and pass his class and get help.

Willow doesn’t know how to deal with Freak and how forward he is so she is constantly trying to run from him but then she realizes quickly that she has fallen for the QB.

Read this now to find out what happens!

3/5 STARS
Opposites attract. Fake dating. College football star x studious nurse. Last year of college & meet the love of your life. 3.7/5 spice. And notes of Christmas! I enjoyed the buildup of the relationship. It wasn’t all just lust & smut, but when there was that, wow. Very nice. A couple of errors grammatically, but that’s life. A very cute, quick read with some holiday spice, perfect for that vibe! Not the most special book but if someone were looking for an easy read after a big romantasy series or lighthearted after a dark romance/thriller, this is a good book to do the job!

Freak & Willow

Loved their story, I really wish it was longer.

Freak and Willow meet when he crashes his cousins tutor session. He needs a passing grade in one of his classes and heard that she was the best tutor for the job.

Soon, they start falling for each other but there are some things that don't want to stay in the past.

Loved it.

Not my favorite…

I had high hopes for this book, but it just fell flat for me.

I thought there were several areas of the book that just felt underdeveloped and majorly rushed.

For the audio, I liked the narrators, but when the female read Freak’s lines and tried to alter her voice it was terrible. She made him sound dumb and cartoonish.

pretty good

Freak by Lisa Lang Blakeney: 3.5 stars
Freak and Willow are refreshingly mature characters, for the most part. Their story is a slow burn, with some angst and sweetness. I liked both Freak and Willow. This book needs some editing however, and the writing style in the beginning seems different from the style later in the book (which is less polished)..

cute but with some issues

The storyline between the two main characters was cute, but there were just some timeline inconsistencies that seemed weird that I struggled with. Plus, I’m really sick of people bad mouthing the Greek system. If you don’t like the Greek system, don’t write about them. Easy as that.

This is a fun, entertaining read. Jackson and Willow are interesting, relatable, intriguing, entertaining, complex characters. I enjoyed the romance and the path it took to get to their HEA. The secondary characters added to the fabric of the story and my enjoyment. The story is easy to read and get into.

I enjoyed the audio version of this book and the narrators.

Fun read!

I am one that loves action books. Since this story is a romance, I was pleasantly surprised at how much enjoyment I got from reading it. Willow and Freak were cute and funny. The whole cast of characters made this story entertaining. I love IR romances. I am looking forward to seeing what else this author has available. I like her writing style.

slow decline

This started with a lot of potential. The plot was good, banter was good. Idk what happened. Somewhere in the middle the writing got choppy and dialogue doesn’t match college kids. Freaks whole persona changes. It just want for me.

La serie continua ad essere interessante. I due protagonisti sono ancora al college, ma già hanno le idee chiare per il loro futuro. Tra un equivoco voluto e non, litigi e tanta passione si arriva al lieto fine extra.
