Joan and James approached the writing of this book as a conversation, sharing their thought leadership as CEOs about how to get more done by leveraging their Executive Assistants as strategic partners. You will read their direct thoughts and best practices, along with stories, examples, how-to instructions, and visuals to highlight major points. SIX PARTS THESE ARE THE CRITICAL PIECES THAT WILL GIVE YOU THE EDGE!
The author’s style of writing was too painful to read. Most points are not structured as two set of authors give their feedback in tandem with each other - one from an Exec’s perspective and the other from an EA’s perspective. I did get the main point from the book that an EA is not merely to support an exec with tasks but can play a bigger role in the org by performing as a strategic partner. The interview tips and advice is helpful. Rest of the information has to be disseminated to categorize it as role, responsibilities, job description, expectations on an EA as well as an Exec.
This is a must read for executives who have or are thinking of hiring an executive assistant or admin assistant. Having a strategic partner and not just an EA or AA is crucial for your success as an executive.
Read like a conversation transcript that I would've preferred to listen to. There were good nuggets sprinkled throughout, but the majority wasn't. It was hard to get through.
