Whiskey Mountain #2

Something to Think About

Rate this book
What’s worse than getting snowed in with a sexy stranger? Having it be the one person you can’t stand— and there’s only one bed.

I don’t hate Preston Roberts, but I also don’t see what all of the craze is about with the women in Whiskey Creek practically drooling over him. Is he good-looking? Sure. Does he treat others with kindness? I guess so. But none of that matters because he is exactly the kind of guy I need to avoid.

I quickly realize that it’s hard not to get to know him when we’re stuck together, riding out the storm. The more we hang out, the more I realize he’s not as bad as I thought. And sure, he is kinda hot. Okay, really hot…

As I start to lower my walls, I find that he’s raising his.

I try to remind myself that it doesn’t matter because I’m not looking for a relationship. As much as I want to convince myself he’s not the right guy for me, I can’t stop thinking about all of the reasons he just might be. I also can’t ignore how that seems to scare him more than it does me.

We may be forced to survive the storm together, but will we walk away with our hearts still intact?

"Something to Think About" by Samantha Baca was a fun, fast-paced story featuring likeable characters and the perfect amount of steam. While the underlying plot may seem familiar, the author put a unique spin on it that I really enjoyed. The chemistry between main characters Ramona Watkins and Preston Roberts was absolute fire, and their witty banter had me laughing out loud more than once. Their personalities complemented each other perfectly and I loved cheering them on to their HEA.

I highly recommend this book for all contemporary romance and romantic comedy fans and look forward to the author's next release.

I liked most is the uniqueness of the story of Romana and Preston. This novella for the Whiskey Mountain series. Forced proximity for two who definitely have attraction but don’t want relationship. Don’t let the cute story fool you with the level of spice Preston brings to Ramona. Fireworks during a snowstorm brings all kinds of feels. Romana is miss independent small town girl trying to do what she can on her own until she fails to prepare for the storm where she ends up with Preston a hot, dirty talking computer geek who is new to town. For a novella it was just perfect. Of course it had me craving for more.

Book 2 in this series by Samantha Baca and another fantastic story.
I listened to the Audiobook and yet again Jaime Carnucci does an excellent job at acting out this book with just the sound and manipulation of her voice...I really liked listening to her narration.
This is Ramona's story..Ramona is Maggie's best friend...(Maggie's book is book 1).
New guy in town Preston is her unexpected match...Unexpected because Ramona doesn't like Preston.
He seems to just annoy her and she can't help to always give him a hard time.
Ramona has recently broken up from her high school sweetheart they had been together a long time, but the relationship wasn't a good one...Ramona was always made to feel unwanted and undesirable.
Preston also has issues because of a past relationship that did not end well and has left him scarred and not believing in love or commitment.
The one thing that Preston and Ramona do have is lots and lots of chemistry, their attraction is so obvious...This is tested to the limits when they are surprisingly stuck together in a snow storm.
Its being stranded together that gives them the opportunity to get to know one another, and discover they actually get along and like eachother....and its the perfect setting to explore one another too...They are so HOT together and can't seem to keep their hands off eachother.
But the relationship ghosts from Preston's past haunts him and he will not allow himself to let himself be happy and find love...which ultimately could make him throw away the best thing that had walked into his life for a long time.
This book felt sexier than the first book and I am just loving these couples of Whiskey Mountain.
Loved the combination of funny and sweet sexy and serious...Because even though this book like the previous book is a pleasantly satisfying amusing steamy story...They also tackle some really hard hitting issues and Samantha Baca writes about them with a sensitive and respectful tone, and so there is a few emotional moments along with the light funny moments.
I LOVED listening to this story.
BRILLIANT.

Ramona

I love Ramona and her sassy ways. This book let you see that there is so much more to her. Seeing her story unfold was great. My heart went out to her with what she experienced and I found myself laughing a load at a lot of her antics. Preston while a fun character was dealing with so much that just ate me up inside. I remember feeling the weight that he carried and was just rooting for him to let it go. This book was such a good read. Allowing for you to enjoy not just the characters but how they dealt with situations because sometimes it was pretty hilarious. Of course, getting more Ask Mags was always a pleasure (even if it made you feel a little sad for the author of the question). Just excited to see what will happen next in Whiskey Mountain)!

Grabbing emergency supplies for a pup he was suddenly saddled with turned into so much more when Preston suddenly found himself trapped with Ramona in a massive snow storm. Enemies who don't have anything in common except maybe some serious chemistry have some cute animal moments, and later tender moments ensue as being trapped leads to walls being broken down - both figuratively and literally. There were a few laugh out loud funny scenes and some seriously steamy ones.

Fast, fun read that explored both Ramona and Preston's relationship as well as dealing with some of their baggage, dreams, and ambitions. Just enough drama and danger to keep things exciting.

I have been dying to read Ramona’s story. When she leaves her BF in book 1 I was devastated for her but fate showed her that in the end she was better off. Preston is the perfect person to fit into Ramona’s world! They were not love at first sight but over time Ramona realizes that there is more to the sexy Preston and they have more in common than either realized!

The narrator did an amazing job voicing the many characters. I have a hard time with audio books when the woman tries to hard to sound manly but this narrator did such a good job and made the book enjoyable!

Ok, Ramona is my spirit animal and I would choose to be snowed in with Preston anytime!! This book was hilarious, adorable and the steamy spice was off the charts. If you’re a fan of dirty talk then Preston is your man! I loved the edition of Maggie and Dylan that brings you in to love it all! I cannot rave more about how much I loved this one! Can’t wait to read the next 2 in the series!

An enjoyable read indeed. Two people stuck together in a snow storm can go either of two ways…fireworks or bloodshed, this story has bits of both.
Quirky and fun.

Such a great read! This book has forced proximity (thank you snow storm), grumpy/sunshine, an angsty vibe, and a helping of heartache.

Ramona and all her dimensions was a surprising and relatable character. I felt like just when I figured her out, a beautiful, new piece of her was shown. Her grumpiness is nothing but the face she shows the world; she’s vulnerable, sweet, has goals locked on, and is an avid animal lover, which of course, makes her perfect.

Mr. Perfect, Preston, was a whole mess underneath that dazzling smile and salacious wink. I kind of wanted to be upset for Ramona when he suggested their arrangement, but once Preston’s full story was known, my heart ached for him. I do love that even with their arrangement, Preston shows Ramona how a woman should be treated in and out of the bedroom. Five chili peppers to them!!

Samantha Baca knows how to deliver romance, and Something to Think About does not disappoint!

I loved this book!! Snowed in, with two pups, all the banter, and ALL the spice!!!!! Ramona is a kick as girl who just misunderstands Preston. The two of them, and their pups end up snowed in at Ramona’s Pet store (Cook Cats!)/ house for weeks. The feisty banter, back story build up, and all the spicy scenes will keep you flipping pages until it’s all over!

Luckily- there is a book 3 with Dylan coming soon! I’m excited to continue reading the Whiskey Mountain series

I got a glimpse of Ramona in Something to Talk About and was excited to get to read her story, Something to Think About. It was such a fun and unexpected story with characters that just grab your attention. Ramona has her heart closed off after her last relationship and easily irritated by “the symbol of a fucking sex God”, Preston.
Preston is afraid to open his heart again after his past, is intrigued by this little firecracker. Forced to live together due to snow storm. The weather outside isn’t the only thing these two have to worry about🥵 Definitely recommend this one if you enjoy forced proximity, love/hate, and hot sexy.

Something to Think About is a forced proximity enemies to lovers novella. This is the second book in the series, but does well as a standalone. Ramona is the snarky owner of Cool Cats, a speakeasy pet store, and the only pet supply store in town. Ramona is feeling a little out of sorts after ending her long term relationship. And to make matters worse, everywhere she goes, there's Preston the overly good looking new guy in town. Add in a little dash of chemistry, a terrible winter storm, and getting trapped with only one bed, and we get the recipe for these two learning much more about each other than they ever planned.

This is a moderate paced novella that still touches on some deep emotional wounds and working through them. Even though there's some heavy subjects in Preston's past, the book remains on the lighter side. This is a well rounded read with emotional depth, hilarious banter, and a good dose of steamy goodness that will leave you feeling all the warm fuzzies.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I love a good snowed-in love story!! Ramona disliked Preston from the get go but a pet emergency, a freak snowstorm & one bed helped her change her tune. I really enjoyed them getting to know each other, in bed & out. When Preston starts to catch feelings, some old emotional trauma comes to light & throws a wrench into their little love nest. It’s not until he’s forced to into action & accept his true feelings.

The second book in the Whiskey Mountain series brings us back to small town life, Spill the Beans, familiar characters and some new faces. Ramona and Preston don’t necessarily get along but when a snow storm hits with a little forced proximity and one bed things can change real quick. Plus who can resist a pair of adorable dogs!

In Something to Think About, Ramona lives in small town, Whiskey Mountain, where she owns the local pet supplies store. Preston left the area years ago for Atlanta but is temporarily back visiting family. Ramona despises Preston and the fact that he keeps showing up everywhere she goes. The town is bracing for a large snowstorm, and both Ramona and Preston end up at the grocery store together. Ramona's ex Daniel also ends up in the same aisle as them, and Ramona threatens Preston to pretend to be her boyfriend in front of Daniel. What happens when the pretending goes too far and sparks fly? What happens next when the two of them end up snowed in together at Ramona's store/house? Can they keep their relationship just friends with benefits? Can Preston move on from his past to have a future with Ramona?

I love Samantha's books, and this one did not disappoint. I love the one bed, forced proximity trope. Also, add in a pair of adorable dogs. 😍 My only wish would have been more of the tension at the beginning of the story. They dive right into something once they are snowed in together. I like to see the tension build, especially when one bed is involved. I really liked how Samantha used Preston's brother Kent to help us understand his past and why he was afraid of commitment. Overall, it's another great book, and I highly recommend it.

This is book 2 in the Whiskey Mountain series and is not a cliffhanger. This is a standalone with previous characters making an appearance. Ramona is back and a total spitfire. I loved the watching the relationship grow. This book had everything I didn't know I needed right now. Comedy, fun, love and just enough spice. Samantha is definitely a must buy when her books come out.

As always, Samantha Baca got me with all the feels with Preston and Ramona’s story. I loved these characters and since I don’t do spoilers, what I will say is that the subject matter gives its readers a glimpse at mental health. I gave this book five stars and can’t wait to read what’s next by the author

Book 2 in Baca's Whiskey Mountain series and can easily be read as a standalone. A small town romance read that is well written and captivating from start to finish. I love our main characters and the smooth flowing storyline that while short still gave me everything I could want in a romance. Ramona and Preston are our main characters. Romana is a touch, independent, small town girl who gets snowed in with Preston the hot, dirty talking, computer geek who's new to town. Funny, sweet and just the right amount of steamy. I am loving this series and I can't wait to see what's next to come from Baca and this series.

I really enjoyed this book. I will say I changed my view about the characters as I was reading. At first I was totally team Preston..Ramona's character to me seemed to be so unlikable grumpy, grouchy and just really bitter at such a young age… I loved how the Author changes how I felt about the characters in middle and the ending was so fantastic!! Their journey has witty banter, real-life feeling and heartwarming too. The friends and family characters are awesome too… can't wait to see how the series unfolds!!

I received this as an ARC and voluntarily leaving my review.

Something To Think About is book #2 in the Whiskey Mountain series. It can be read as a standalone and there is no cliffhanger. I was so excited to get Ramona's story. Her breakup was such a shock from book one and it has left her questioning herself. Preston is the hot new guy in town who keeps running into to Ramona. He's fighting his own issues from his past and his aversion to commitment. He's a dirty-talking computer geek that sets Ramona on fire like she's never felt before. Once again, I felt like I was listening to a story of my own circle of friends. Now… poor Dylan! I can't wait to see what's in store for him!

This is the second novella in Samantha Baca's Whiskey Mountain series, (which absolutely can be read as a standalone) and follows our female main character, Ramona, and her nemesis Preston. There is something for everyone in this spicy story - it's quick, funny, heartwarming, there's forced proximity, an enemies to lovers trope, one bed, banter...do I need to go on?

I wasn't expecting to feel a full spectrum of emotions while reading this, but I went through them all. From the initial meh impression of Preston to the interaction with Daniel (ugh) and getting to know Ramona better while also relating heavily to her love of animals and fiercely independent side, I was pleasantly surprised. Not many authors can pull off a fully completed story in a shorter novella. I really appreciated that Samantha was able to do this as I was looking for a quicker, more lighthearted read that would leave me feeling satisfied.
