The first rule of dating as a single mother should Don’t date your son’s teacher.
The second rule should Don’t let your past hold you back from your future.
But when the gorgeous, much-too-young-for-me single dad moved to town, I found it impossible to avoid his advances. Especially when my sister and her husband gave him an open invitation to our weekly family dinners.
I knew better than to let anything happen between us. I didn’t want to get close to him and his daughter, only for him to possibly walk away. Just like my kids’ father had done to them.
Letting Dominic into our lives was never the plan. I needed to be strong, to resist the temptation and keep everyone’s hearts intact.
The only problem was that I wasn’t strong enough to fight our chemistry when the pull was so powerful.
Everyone has weaknesses.
And Dominic? Well, he just happened to be mine.
*This book can be read as a standalone, but if you want all of the juicy town gossip, be sure to read Just One Time (Book 1) first. This series is made up of interconnected standalones that feature characters from the other books, but each book has a happily ever after and features a different character.
Samantha lives in the southwest with her husband and two children, where she enjoys writing, drinking iced coffee, and watching the greatest show of all time—Friends. She also has a sweet spot for holiday stories, so grab a blanket and get ready to binge some of the sweetest—yet spicy—holiday romance your heart can handle!
Samantha loves connecting with her readers, so here’s a list of where you can find her:
This book was not what I was expecting and I was here 👏🏻 for 👏🏻 it 👏🏻! Jane is the woman all mothers aspire to be. She adores her kids and will do anything the keep them happy, even with a PITA ex-husband working so hard to undo her hard work. She’s a dedicated Pediatrician who strives to do right by her patients. She’s a fantastic sister to Abby and Aunt to Penny. But her disaster of a first marriage has left her guarded and jaded and she often puts her happiness on the back burner. When Dominic comes into her life she has no idea how to handle him being the father of a patient and her sons new substitute teacher. Her moral high ground is telling her to stay away but the butterflies in her stomach are urging her for more.
Dominic is the hot, new single dad trying to find his place in his new, small town. When Jane finally let’s him in, he’s hot and heavy for her and his dirty mouth is enough to make anyone blush. He’s supportive and adores Jane’s kids as much as Jane adores his daughter, Olivia. But when one event changes everything, Jane retreats back to her old ways and shoves Dominic out before she can get hurt, even with the huge changes that are coming both their ways. Jane needs to figure out if Dominic is worth the risk and Dominic has to figure out how to get her to see how amazing they are destined to be.
I love how the main characters compliment each other so well! Jane is the serious, selfless caretaker and Dominic is the lighthearted, glass half full man to get Jane to lighten up. I’m in awe of the way they think of all the children in all their actions and they aren’t afraid to love each others kids. The supporting cast is the absolute best and I loved seeing Abby, Nate, and Penny come back to keep everyone in stitches.
Dominic is new in town and is Jane's son's new Teacher and she is his daughter's Pediatrician.
😊What i liked -
✔ Age Gap/Small Town/Single Parent. ✔ Oh I absolutely loved all the characters in this book, especially all the side characters. ✔ At one end we have a woman who is strong and independent but has had her fair share of heartbreaks and one the other end we have a man who is caring, sweet and swoony (and yes has had heartbreaks too) who really wants Jane to be a part of his life. ✔ Their chemistry and the way their relationship progresses was so cute and swoony to read. (it had its fair share of Drama) ✔ This book is full of laughs, drama, bonds, cute and crazy texts and amazingly steamingly Hot.
🤔What could have been better -
✔ Oh I have a lot to say about that dou**ebag of a husband, but i think that word sums it up.

Another phenomenal book by Samantha Baca! A second chance, older woman/younger man age gap, single parent romance with amazing well-developed characters. Single mom Jane is raising her two kids while being the town pediatrician. Dominic is new in town, handsome, single parent to a one year old, and he just so happens to be Jane's son's new teacher.
I loved these two so much! Jane is older, mature, and independent. She doesn't need anyone's support, but Dominic is the perfect match for her. He's sweet, caring, swoon-worthy, and he had a down right filthy mouth. I could not get enough of these two and I loved the way their relationship developed. I loved how Dominic was quick to accept her kids as his own. These two were everything and I can't wait to read Capshaw's book!
I have never been more excited for a book than I was for this one! I loved the first book in the Beaumont Creek Series about Abby & Nate so much, and I couldn't wait to read what happens with Abby's sister Jane. I don't think I've ever related to a story as much as I related to Jane, a Mom in her 40's falling for a guy in his 30's. I felt like Samantha wrote this book just for me! This story is heartwarming, because of their children and how our lives revolve around the kids. It was an inspirational story too, because, at this age, we feel that we might not be as attractive as we once were, but Dominic puts Jane's worries to rest by showing her how sexy she is to him, and boy are those scenes hott! This series just keeps getting better, with its laugh-out-loud moments, super-hott love scenes, and real-life relatability. I can't wait to see who falls in love next in Beaumont Creek!
A great second chance at love romance. Small town new hot teacher is capitvated by town pediatrician. She’s the 42-year old woman who adores her kids, has to deal with their loser dad and hesitant to trust another man in her and her kids life. Then Dominic came to town and flipped her world in a very short period of time. This hot teacher is educated in the bedroom and dirty talk. I love how he adores her and her kids while being an amazing single dad himself. Thisbis the second book in the Beaumont Creek Series and both have proved to be worthy of being on your TBR!

4.25 stars. Oh man this was a great second chance at love romance. We have single mom Jane who is raising two kids with a less than stellar ex husband who has found himself a new woman while also balancing her job as a Dr.
Dominic is new in town and looking to start a new life. A single dad to an adorable little girl and the new teacher in town. These two cross paths when his daughter gets sick and the attraction is instant. One problem, he happens to be the teacher for Jane's son.
Meddling parents, Jane's and Dominic's find these two together at family outings. After fighting their attraction these two finally combust in a steamy night. But when things get too real Jane pulls away.
Dominic has golden retriever energy with a dirty mouth and I was so here for it. Jane is relatable in that she puts her kids first but sometimes at the expense of her happiness. I found myself wanting to slap some sense into her multiple times. I also wanted the story to keep going. I hope we see more of these two in other books. If you love small town romance with lovable characters and happy endings look no further.
This is a small town, slow burning romantic comedy with plenty of spice added throughout.
We find ourselves in the charming, small town of Beaumont Creek once again, with all the familiar characters we love; Nate, Abby, and Jane as well as our new friend, Dominic.
Finally, we get to follow the continuation of Jane’s story and her quest for love, as well as watch her excel at motherhood and enjoy her witty banter with her sister.
There were scenes in this book, pages even, that had me laughing until I cried, nearly in hysterics. And, as always with all of Samantha Baca’s books, I couldn’t put it down and read it in a single sitting.
*I was provided with an advanced copy of this book by the author to read under the conditions I provide my honest review.
Two single parents raising children meet under unusual circumstances in small town America. Dr. Jane is known in town for always being there for the parents of small children. Being a single mother of two children she knows how scary it can be when you have a sick child, even for pediatricians. Especially when they are not able to speak for themselves yet, learning and interpreting their tells and cries can be daunting under normal circumstances, but add a fever, an ear infection, or projectile vomiting and we are talking a whole different monster.
So when Dominic Rosario ends up in her office with sweet Olivia she takes notice of them both. Because her body has never reacted to anyone the way it does to his. Which scared the ever-loving daylights out of her. Her kids are nine and seven, Mikey and Sally. And Mikey is having a time of it since his father just announced he was getting remarried, and to a woman twenty years his junior. If it weren’t for her village of friends, and her family, it would be beyond hard raising them alone. It doesn't even bother her that the marriage broke up for her, but the toll on her children is what kills her.
Rick used to be a decent father, but since the divorce, it's like he divorced the children. It's at that appointment that Dominic asked if it was too soon to introduce Olivia to play group situations with other children. Jane said not at all she said it would be wonderful for her. “Do you, by chance, know of any single parents that might be up for hanging out?” Something about the way he asked it shot nerves straight through her stomach again. Was he flirting with her? As they talked some more they figured out he was Mikey’s new teacher, since his regular teacher went out on maternity leave.
She suddenly stood dazed as Dominic and Olivia got ready to leave the exam room. I’ll see you next week. At the parent-teacher conference. Dominic threw over his shoulder as he left. Not only had she been amusing dirty thoughts about the father of one of her patients, but she was also now having them about her son’s new teacher. As if that couldn’t get any more tricky. “Yes. I will see you then.” He stood up, grabbed the diaper bag from the bench beside him, and lifted Olivia to his hip. “See you around, Doctor Hughes.”
He stopped briefly, resting his hand on the doorknob before turning it. “Oh, and if you’re interested in a play date, just let me know.” Now she was freaking out. In talking with her sister Abby and brother-in-law, Nate she gets their take. First, Abby. Why is it an issue? Because he is going to be Mikey’s teacher? Jane tells her it's not just that his one-year-old daughter is her patient. Abby does point out, however, that she is too young to know what is going on. Jane then spits out what’s bothering her, he’s a baby he’s ten years younger than her.
He’s barely thirty-two. She’s TEN years older! And wonders who would even want to date an old bag like her?” Abby scolds her, You’re not old. She retorts, I’m not young. I can’t do all the things guys his age expect women to do. “What exactly do you think he expects you to do? And how do you know how old he is? Did you ask him? Her face turned beet red. Jane?” “We needed to make sure we had everything updated in Olivia’s file.” “What’s going on?” Nate asked. “Spill it,” Nate coaxed, looking between us. “Cause you know Abby is going to tell me as soon as you leave the room.”
“Abby’s the worst at keeping secrets.” “She has a crush,” Abby rushed out. Penny Abby’s daughter’s birthday is on Saturday the whole town seems to be invited. Saturday would be Penny’s birthday and there was about to be a turning point in both Jane and Dominic’s lives they just didn't know how much. Would it be a smooth ride to happiness oh no. No one ever said life worked that way. They did say love is always worth it.
I absolutely loved this book ! I listened to the Audiobook which was narrated by Jaime Carnucci who was so excellent at reading this story for all of us to enjoy. Jaime is Amazing and I loved listening to her portray all these characters and making it so entertaining. This might be my favourite book so far by Samantha Baca...Second Chances is the perfect combination of steamy, funny, sweet and romantic. This is Janes story she is Abby's Older sister..Jane has been through alot of heartache due to her Ex Husband who is an absent father to their 2 children. Jane is basically taking care of her children by herself a single mum and a peadeatrician she isn't looking for a relationship..That is until a new single dad arrives in town Dominic. Dominic and his adorable baby daughter are in Beaumont creek for a fresh start,he is the new substitute teacher and in his class is Jane's son. They are obviously attracted to eachother but Jane is reluctant to start anything with Dominic because he is much younger than her 10 years younger. So she automatically thinks it could never work and how could a 32 year old man be interested in her she is too old for him. But it seems the universe has different idea because they just keep bumping into eachother and being in eachothers space...Until one night the overwhelming passion ignites and cannot be contained they cross the line. They have an explosive and amazing night together but it ends in a panic when an accident with protection happens and Jane now could be pregnant. That is right this is a surprise baby story and honestly I found myself laughing so much listening to this book.. The banter and dialogue is so witty and funny in certain scenes like the sonagram scene that was hilarious...and Dominic and Nate together are like a comedy duo..I loved it the humour was brilliant. I also loved the text messages between Jane,Dominic.Abby and Nate they were great light moments in the story. Dominic is just so swoony he didn't give a damn about the age difference he treated Jane like a queen and Jane was not used to it. Jane was guarded because of her previous marriage and the way Rick had treated her and their children,he was neglectful and she didn't think she would be able to risk going through a break up again...She couldn't put her children through loving someone just to be let down and dismissed. But Dominic was the opposite he was attentive, caring was interested in all the children he was a hands on dad and Jane was taken by surprise....Which means she ended up pushing Dominic away. Samantha Baca excelled with her writing on this book,it seemed so much more than the previous book in the series. It was such a pleasure to listen to and I loved every moment spent listening the time flew by and I couldn't stop listening. I Loved it Superb ! 5 Stars.
I've been looking forward to reading Abby's sister Jane's story ever since I finished "Just One Time," the first book of the Beaumont Creek series. It did not disappoint; in fact, I think it was even better than the first book of the series.
Despite the 10 year age difference between them, pediatrician Jane Hughes and elementary school teacher Dominic Rosario were a perfect match for one another. Dominic was new in town, having purchased the house next door to his parents after unexpectedly becoming a single father upon the birth of his 1-year-old daughter Olivia. Jane was also a single parent to 9-year-old Mikey and 7-year-old Sally, who had been her top priority ever since her divorce. They kept being pushed together by Jane's matchmaking sister and brother-in-law, but I understood her hesitation to get involved with him. Among other reasons, her son was in Dominic's class, and Jane worried that the other kids would tease him if they found out she was dating their teacher. Their chemistry was undeniable, however, and I loved how they bonded with each other's kids.
Overall, I adored this charming and sweet (but spicy in all the right places) story and highly recommend it for all contemporary romance fans. I look forward to the next book in the series.
*Review copy provided by the author. All opinions expressed are my own.
I really enjoyed this small town romance with a reverse age gap. It was so heartwarming. Second Chances is the second book in the Beaumont Creek series and can be read as a standalone.
Jane is a single mom and the town pediatrician. Her ex hasn’t prioritized their kids and she pretty much does everything on her own with the help of her family. At the start of this book, she meets Dominic, who is a single dad and also her son’s new teacher.
It was so refreshing to have a FMC, who is older, mature, and so put together. She didn't need Dominic or any one else to save her. I really loved Dominic. He was such a sweet and nurturing doll baby. He went out of his way to constantly put Jane and their families first. He was the biggest cinnamon roll. However, both Dominic and Jane had a lot to work through from their past relationships. Jane has really closed herself off and is terrified to let Dominic in. It was beautiful to see how they were able to bring their families together.
I’m really excited for the next book in the series. It’s called Third Time’s the Charm and is set to release in April.
This book is the second in the series which focuses on Jane, Abby’s 42 year old older sister and town pediatrician who also happens to be a divorced single mother of 2. Her ex is a jerk who really doesn’t want to involved in the kids lives and has moved onto a 20 something year old. Enter Dominic who is a single father of an infant and her son’s teacher. His ex is a drug addict. Their chemistry is strong with some spicy scenes. It was great to watch their relationship grow and how they navigated the nuances of their families and kids.
While I thought this story was an easy read and I liked the characters I felt it was just a little flat in terms of conflict. I loved the text messages among her, Dominic, Abby and Nate. Also appreciated the closure on her previous fling with Capshaw, but some things were just a bit predictable with the condom breaking and her getting pregnant. Then her freaking out and putting up walls. I just wish there was a bit more depth.
It’s a sweet easy read though so if you want something easy try this one.

I loved everything about this book! I loved the way this book took an altogether different direction than I was anticipating as I finished up the first in this series.
This book brings up a lot of feels while staying on the lighter side. I found myself laughing out loud many times throughout this read. Jane is guarded and jaded thanks to her useless ex husband, but she still holds wishes and hope for a happily ever after of her own. When she meets Dominic and his daughter the pull between them is palpable and immediate.
I loved the way Dominic was all in from the beginning. He has golden retriever energy big time, and I loved seeing him work through Jane's fears with her. Even when things get too real and too scary for Jane and she pushes him away, he doesn't give up. All in all this was an excellent read full of swoony goodness, laugh out loud scenes, a full cast of supporting characters, and some top notch steam complete with some dirty talk that will make you blush.
Second Chances" by Samantha Baca. I loved and enjoyed this book I don’t even realize I was almost finished wham I was on the last chapter. This is Jane and Dominic’s story and it is one to read. I love a single parent romance and here we get not one but two single parents so I loved that. They understood each other yet they had their own issues to deal with that were so different from the other. I found it refreshing that Jane was the one doing all the freaking out and pushing away. Usually it’s the female character all in and the guy is not ready to commit but not here oh no. The one and only thing I didn’t agree with was the whole fears that Jane was coming across the were a little to much and I don’t thing realistic because as we get older we get more comfortable in our own and care less of what anyone thinks and she wasn’t actually acting like a 40 yr old more like a 20 yr old. But besides that lived the story and highly recommend.
When I heard there was a second book coming from Samantha Baca in this series I had to pounce immediately. I adore Samantha's writing - the combination of wit, humor, reality and spice is something that most authors can rarely achieve but she seems to have all of that in spades!
I knew I would like whatever book came as the second book in the series, but there were so many scenes and situations I was not expected that worked so well together. I had hoped that the love interest would continue from a few scenes in the first book, but I really appreciated the switch to a new character in town seemingly stepping right into Jane's life. The relationship and relatability they have from the get go is great, but the challenges they faced while infuriating were really well done. I want so much more from this new family and I can't wait to see where it all goes in the future books! Loved it!

I have been looking forward to Second Chances from the moment I finished reading Just One Time, and fell in love with Nate and Abby’s story. I was so excited to get an ARC of Second Chances and could not wait to see what Samantha had in store for Abby’s older sister Jane. She did not disappoint with Jane and Dominic story. I don’t know if it’s because I identify with Jane’s character as a 42 year old single mom myself, but I just loved Jane❤️What more could a single mom want a sexy single dad that wants her too. Nope never that easy, not only is Dominic younger then her, but the father of one of her patients as well as her son’s teacher. The chemistry between them was 🔥 and his dirty mouth 🥵 This was just a laugh out loud, spicy read that I didn’t want to put down. Loved it! I can not wait to see what Samantha comes up with next.
Jane, a single mother of two and the town's pediatrician, meets single dad, Dominic. Dominic is also Jane's son's substitute teacher. Dominic is new to town, and Jane's sister Abby and brother-in-law Nate start inviting him to dinner and game night. There is an instant connection between Dominic and Jane, but she's dealing with an ex-husband who walked out and the stress of dating her son's teacher. Will she be able to move on from what's holding her back? Especially when she gets a huge surprise that throws a curveball into her plans.
Second Chances is a little more of a slow burn than Just One Time. However, the mirror scene is one that will live rent-free in my head. 🥵 The bonus chapter also has a really good 🥵 scene. I really like Dominic, and he tried so hard for Jane and her kids. However, Jane was a bit too whiny for me.
This is book two in Samantha's Beaumont Creek series. Jane is a pediatrician in town and we get to meet Dominic when he brings his one year old daughter Olivia in for a check-up. Jane says she isn't interested because she is 10 years older and Dominic is her sons teacher. She was fooling herself because there was an instant connection and Jane tried hard to ignore him. Dominic wouldn’t take no for an answer! All it takes is a skirt and a mirror to make her temporarily forget all the reasons she thinks it won't work! Samantha throws in so much spice, a ton of surprises, and so many laughs you can't help but love this book!
Jane and Dominic are attracted to each other but Jane feels like there are so many reason to stay away from her. She is his daughter’s pediatrician, and he is her son’s teacher, plus he is younger. Jane has been burned before as well - her ex-husband was not a good father and continues to be a poor co-parent. But Dominic wears her down and they start a relationship with each other and spending time with each other’s children. But when their relationship is thrown a curveball, can Jane trust him enough to build a future together?
I have read the other books in this series as well and really liked them. You could read this as a stand alone but there is value in reading in order.
Dominic is a hot teacher who moved to town with his baby daughter, Olivia. Dominic finds that he has a crush on his daughter's pediatrician, Jane. Jane falls in love with Olivia from the moment they meet, and she realizes Olivia's dad is pretty cute too.
This book takes a fresh twist on romance with a teacher and a pediatrician. Whike both are single parents with damage, I liked that Dominic didn't let his past hold him back, and he went after what he wanted. He shows Jane how a real man should treat her and the kids. Jane, on the other hand, is cautious and that is understandable with her past.
things to know: reverse age gap romance, he falls first, public smexy time, accidental pregnancy
Jane and Dominic’s story was full of intense feelings and witty banter. Though both are single parents with their own issues, I found it refreshing that Dominick wasn’t the one doing all the freaking out and pushing away. It’s usually the guys who fear commitment, but Jane definitely took the cake in this story. I found Jane very annoying, with how she constantly gave into her fears… especially when her being older than Dominic was one of her hang ups. The steam in this story, though. Whew. Definitely 5 alarm fires with them!
Jane is a single mum who definitely has some walls up after her failed marriage. She’s the towns paediatrician and when the hot new single dad, Dominic moves to town the two of them have an instant connection.
But Jane tries her hardest not to act on her attraction, Dominic is 10 years younger. But it doesn’t take long for the attraction to win out.
After spending the night together and a slight mishap these two find themselves dealing with some surprises!
Beaumont Creek book 2 in the much loved series by Samantha Baca, Second Chances! Tropes: • Age gap • Single parent • Small town Another amazing book by Samantha Baca!
Jane is a single mom raising her two kids while being a pedestrian, content in her life doing just that. Well, she was until she met one of her son’s teacher’s. Dominic moved here with his one-year-old and is a school teacher. Not often do we read about an older woman attracted to a younger man but this one is incredible!
I enjoy second chance romances with older characters. They’re generally more mature and know what they want. Jane is older than Dominic by 10 years, but hrs definitely the more mature and trusting of the two.
While I liked their romance, it felt forced when the break up came. Then, we have no idea what happens with the other parents of the kids. It just felt unfinished.
I like this author, and will read more of her books. It was good to catch up with Nate and Abby as well. Their interactions are fun.
I loved this one and the storyline was perfection. I really liked the best friend concept to have a baby with. I mean what a wonderful component to add to a story and a perfect situation. Plus there's plenty of laugh out loud moments. The narrator voiced this book well. Although I wish there was a little more changeover to the male part of the story. But nonetheless it doesn't take away from the story it's just a preference I think that would've helped. This is definitely worth the listen.
Jane and Dominic—she’s a single-mom pediatrician and he’s a single-dad teacher. He brings his daughter in for a check-up and the attraction is instantaneous and mutual. He also happens to be her son’s teacher. They were both burned by their exes, but her ability to trust is much less than his. The first time they have sex, the condom breaks…and his super-sperm impregnate her with twins. They have some issues and even stop seeing each other for awhile but she finally takes a chance on him staying and their HEA seems to be in the offing. Also, Abby and Nate are pregnant again.

Welcome back to the lovely Beaumont creek series! I was super excited to be able to read more on Jane's story . She captured me in the first when we had a glance at her with her sister Abby. Throw in the sexy Dominic and sparks fly , sass comes out, sexy scenes and omg hilarious moments that you will laugh out loud . This is another must of family, friendships, hardships, sadness, love, and of course hot sex !
Absolutely loved their story. Both single parents what could go wrong, nothing ! It did start out a bit awkward because she was his daughter’s doctor . Not only that but he was her so sons teacher . They instantly had connection and I love watching them fall in love and not only that but get hit with a double surprise. The steamy scenes were nice .I enjoyed listening to their story. The narrator did a great job with both characters. With just enough spunk and sass for Jane.
4.5 🌟 Swoony single dad Reverse Age-gap Later-in-life, Pediatrician single mom 🌶 🌶 🌶
I've been waiting for Jane's story since reading the 1st Beaumont Creek book, Just One Time. Second Chances is a quick read with a MMC that will make your heart swoon, your ears burn, and your panties...well I'll let you read it & figure it out. My only complaint is that I wanted more.
