The Mighty Chain by Jeremy Morang is a whirlwind of perfection. Tons of heart-stopping action and angst, with the best amount of comedy relief to balance it all out. This is a companion novel to Morang’s, The Guardian War Chronicles. You don’t have to read those to appreciate this book, but you definitely need to read its predecessor, Hatham. The Mighty Chain flows effortlessly, which is a testament to Morang's writing. I couldn’t help but love Gethar and Ellim, the main characters of this story, and of course, our beloved Hatham. The development of their friendship is only enhanced by their hilarious banter. I laughed, I cried, and I passionately shook my fist at the author. What a wild ride!

Hatham is a companion book to Jeremy Morang's Guardian War Chronicles. You can definitely enjoy this book as a standalone, but I am glad I read the first book in the series before hand. I think this gave me a much stronger connection to the characters.

This 104-page origin story is a real tearjerker. Following Gethar Willow and his life partner, Hatham, on a weeklong anniversary trip. This book is the tale of a beautiful love that never ends, even after loss. Wonderfully written, Hatham will have a place in my heart forever.

I am broken!!!

I knew going into this book I was going to cry, but what I didn’t realize was how much I was going to cry. This story broke my heart, and even though I knew part of what was going to happen. The writing is beautiful, and I love Hatham even more!!!

Great writing and easy to consume, this short sci-fi read is full of action and drama as we see in vivid detail the beginning of Gethar Willow's journey through insanity and the motivation behind his first steps towards becoming the infamous character who plays a crucial role in The Surrender Game from The Guardian War Chronicles. Get ready for many many tears as you spend an anxious and life-changing week with Gethar at Truckstop One, and Room 17. But the tears are worth it in the course of the series, and provide an in-depth understanding of one of the most pronounced characters of modern sci-fi in the opinions of those that take a chance on Jeremy Morang's universe (which I believe should be everyone!).

Hatham is a masterpiece. That's about the only way I can sum it up. Jeremy's characters and setting usually immerse you in a page-turner. It's not a long read but it is an impactful one. I can say I get emotional when reading. But very few books have made me cry. This book broke my soul in the best way possible. Hatham and Gethar's unbreakable bond on their journey will have you experiencing every emotion on the spectrum.

This was such a great journey. The world is rich with nuance, lively, and believable. The author created characters for us to root for and get invested in a way that truly deserves the title "space opera". The emotional damage this writer has given me with the stakes of this story, his description, relationships, and the way he presents this rich world is incredible. I cannot wait to read what happens next. If SciFi is your genre... check this book out and give this author your attention!

I’ve spent a good portion of my life immersed in sci-fi worlds, and Morang’s world could stand toe to toe with the best from the genre. Hatham is the first book that I’ve read from this author, and I totally fell in love. The world that Morang has crafted is rich with atmosphere, lovable characters, and full of emotions that will leave you crying in the best of ways. I loved Gethar and this world so much, I’m diving into the next books ASAP! I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Note to reader: this book was not intended to make you cry, but if you're a soft-hearted little goober like me, then just prepare yourself for one sentence to crush your gooey little soul. Don't worry, it'll be mended again. Ya know, just like Morang has a habit of doing. Here's the obligatory "Eff off, Jeremy". Carry on, carry on.

An unlikely librarian, a drunken High Intendant on a power kick, a captain longing for more, a renegade hellbent on getting hers, and the unlikeliest duo of misfits... These are just a few of the backstories that you'll be thrown into while reading the companion.

The Guardian War Chronicles Companion is a MUST have for anyone that has decided to jump headfirst into the crazy world that Morang created in the Surrender Game. This collection of short stories and poetry will quench your curiosity for backstories while you get ready to delve into Volume II of The Guardian War Chronicles.

Curl up in your favorite reading nook, get comfy under a nice blanket, and prepare to plow through this beauty in one sitting. Reminder: you're an adult and don't need anyone's permission to ignore your adulting for the day so join me in falling in love with these side characters and continuing to hold grudges against the author. Cheers, fellow nerds.

Captain Gethar Willow teams up with Ellim Maddox, a Xorren of The Mighty Chain at a pivotal moment in the war with the Droll to accomplish the impossible and succeed where no fleet or force could otherwise break through. If you want scene after scene of action and suspense, a blossoming brotherhood, and the unshakable motivational ravings of Hatham's antics, this is where you'll find them! Spend 103 days (and then some) with the incomparable Gethar as he meets the fierce warrior Ellim where they both go from crashed ships and broken missions to heroes of the quadrant on the impenetrable world of Droll-controlled cities in which enemy forces can be produced faster than they can be destroyed. See first hand how Hatham's death drives our vengeful heroes with infectious determination, ingenuity, and inspiration to not only survive, but thrive and conquer. This is where grit, repurposed tech, and alien humanity are at their most rugged and resourceful.
Excitement abounds! Get into these books ASAP! The Guardian War Chronicles and Companion series are not to be missed!
