A Principled Life: Thirty Biblical Principles to Guide Your Life

Rate this book
One of the key ways the Bible provides guidance for Christians to navigate the complexities of life is in giving true principles that apply to a variety of circumstances. As the Holy Spirit helps us grow in our understanding of these principles, His grace enables us to apply them to the specific needs in our lives. This application takes shape as we form Bible-based convictions on those biblical principles and then develop personal standards to live by those same principles.

Over the years, this process has been short-circuited when Christian leaders have shared only the standards they have formed without the principles behind them and without giving other Christians liberty to discover and uniquely apply the original Bible principle. A growth in discernment and God-dependancy comes as Christians rediscover the importance of studying and applying Bible principles personally.

In this book, Dr. R. B. Ouellette explores thirty Bible principles. Each chapter provides a definition of a principle, biblically develops its need in our lives, and includes scriptural instructions specific to this principle. The chapters conclude with thought-provoking questions to prompt your discernment and application.

I’ve been steadily marching through this a chapter a week for months now. This has been the basis of a series I’ve been teaching at church.

The premise is that God’s principles are to be lived out in our life & we have a commitment to those principles. We use standards as guard rails to help us stay on point with our commitments. This look at many of the principles that God gave in the scriptures has been a good study.

Each chapter is fairly short, to the point, easily understood. The author in his writing, as he is in his speaking is always practical. He gets to where most of us live. Due to the length of the chapters, there isn’t an abundance of information or explanation. If this is being reproduced for a study, you should prepare to do some added work to flesh out the ideas found in each chapter.

This is a good book & I’d recommend it to most everyone for a read.
