What does Madison have to be thankful for? Not much, Madison thinks. It's the first Thanksgiving since her mom and dad split, and she feels stuck in the middle. But this holiday is stuffed with surprising revelations and good cheer--especially when Madison volunteers at the local animal shelter.

When it comes to this series, this book is another read that is especially good to read in the season that the story is occurring in because it feels very atmospheric for Autumn/Thanksgiving.
Although I don't have personal experience with this, I think this book would be extremely helpful for those with parents going through a divorce. I think the emotions Madison had in regards to change in tradition and Thanksgiving would be similar feelings for those going through a shared experience.
I loved the animal hospital storyline and could easily see how it would be sad to say goodbye to the animals that come and go, even if it's with a positive outcome of the animal being adopted.
It was too good. Madison was really lucky to have a family who loves her even her parents were separated but still she had the hope for doing something and she did it and accomplished her mission of living a happy life. I loved the book very much.
I can’t help but rate all of these 5 stars because I know that’s what 9-year-old me would have done. They’re such quick reads and while they may be super low stakes and formulaic, the nostalgia makes my heart sing. I wake up every day looking forward to reading one. The cherry on top of this book was the librarian’s name being Mr. Books.

This was a cute book that makes us think about what we are lucky for. Maddie learns that, even though her parents are divorced, she is still lucky to have a great family that loves her. She is also lucky for her awesome friends.
