He's back and he's out for blood

Fed up with living in the shadow of his brothers, Range Metcalfe struck out to carve a name for himself—one written in the blood of many a terrorist. Now, he’s targeting the notorious Madam of Kandahar, who has trafficked children and women. Finally given the green light, he captures her and quickly finds himself entrenched up in a deadly encounter that forces him into the Afghan wilderness—with the madam.

Ten years as a trafficking victim Kasra Jazani has little left of her soul. No longer able to live with herself, she takes matters into her own hands and coordinates an escape, a massive coup against the man who has kept her and so many others captive. They flee into the night—right into the fierce and capable hands of American operators, who ruin everything and put lives at risk. Livid, she knows death is coming for them, because she also holds a very dangerous, very powerful secret: the name of the man at the top of the trafficking ring. Now that monster wants her—and her American protector—dead.

No rating since it's my book (and it's tacky to review your own book IMO), but obviously I liked it. LOL And I did read it after I wrote it, so that counts.

Range was everything I've come to expect from a Ronie Kendig book. The action was fast pace and at times so intense I think I might have actually been holding my breath. Not to mention seeing some of the other Metcalfes brightened my day and enhanced the reading experience. But what I liked most of all was the transformation that Range and Kasra went through. There was such redemption in both of their stories and I loved seeing it happen.
I look forward to reading book 4.

Ronie Kendig has done it again. RANGE is full of turmoil and torment and depravity, but the beauty of hope rings throughout in a way that cannot leave the reader untouched.

This book deals with awful, dark topics in a way that does not glorify the evil and remains edifying, but does not shirk from hard truths. I have so much appreciation for the way the author handles the subject of The Metcalfes series so tactfully.

Range and Kasra's story had me turning pages all day and into the night. The characters are raw and their stories are intense and gripping.

This story is not an easy read, but it is a good one. May it inspire you (as it has me) to join the fight against human trafficking in whatever way you are able.

Ronie has crafted a story that perfectly balances honesty regarding the horrors of human trafficking, while not overwhelming her reader with darkness. She successfully shines a much-needed light on this gruesome industry without ever glorifying it. Sin is called sin. I love the journey she took Range on here. I’ve been waiting for a story told from his perspective for a long while and was not disappointed. I loved his long, overdue journey to forgiveness toward his brother. I love reading Ronie’s books because I know I can count on her to write masculine men. Protective, strong, moral men. Flawed and relatable, but men I can’t help but root for (even when they’re being stubborn haha!)

Our heroine, Kasra was so layered and tormented and just…broken. But brave and heroic in her own way. I had a hard time for the majority of the story with Kasra knowing the world she was in and the “job” she had, but as the author slowly peeled back those layers and allowed the reader to see just what her situation really was, I (like Range) slowly began to see her in a new light. I can’t imagine the horror she lived in. Sadly, so many women, children and even men are living that same reality.

The author does an incredible job of leaving her readers challenged and encouraged toward action in the fight against the horrific reality of human trafficking. Overall, I loved Range and am looking forward to Brooke’s story next.

I have been waiting for Range's story ever since I met him through Canyon in Wolfsbane. Back then, Range was a lovesick, tender-hearted puppy who meant well but constantly felt less than his older brother. Here, in his own book, Range is a honed and well-trained operative, spurred by justice and compulsion to finish every mission well. He's definitely grown up, but still has a lot of self-doubt and bitterness to overcome in regard to his family. His counterpart, Kasra, is a deeply layered woman with a painful past and a generous heart who sacrifices constantly for others.

There is an overarching theme of taking down a global trafficking ring throughout the series, so there are sensitive topics addressed here. The action-packed, adrenaline-fueled plot where Range and Kasra must dodge those hunting them through villages, mosques, and sea propels the story seamlessly. Range and Kasra's banter is truly delightful, even if it starts out with mutual disdain and hatred of each other. I loved seeing Canyon and Dani again, as well as the other Metcalfe family members.

This is a book not to be missed. Range was well worth the wait. I received the book from the publisher via JustRead Tours and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.

Wow, wow, wow, what a wild ride!

I have been waiting for this story since the end of Wolfsbane (the book that introduced the main character) and I was not dissappointed. Ronie Kendig masterfully weaves a tale of redemption and reconciliation fraught with perils set in an unnervingly real setting.

The plot kept me entranced from the beginning. The characters were consistent and believable. Some of my favorite tropes were used in ways that I appreciated. And as always, the male lead was grumpy but honorable. What more can I want?

Something to be aware of: this book deals with the heavy reality of the sex trafficking industry. It is not sexually graphic, but does not shy away from the truth. Every day people are being sold into slavery and in Range Ronie Kendig pulls back the curtain and gives us a glimpse into the lives of the victims of sex trafficking as well as the warriors who fight for them. Is this an easy read? No. But it communicates the truth that our God is a God who saves. And this same God calls us to bring His light into a world that desperately needs Him.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

From the time Range was introduced as a minor character in his brother Canyon's story (Wolfsbane, Discarded Heroes Book 3), I was curious to know what happened to him. It was a long, hard wait for this book release but well worth it. Range's story is a fast-paced, action-packed, emotionally-stirring page-turner that I could not put down until I'd finished it in the wee hours of the morning.

Range
by Ronie Kendig
Book 3 in the Metcalfes series
Rating: 4.8/5

Wow. Sometimes I forget how amazing a writer Ronie Kendig is but then I pick up another book from her and literally can't stop reading. This fast-paced thriller did NOT disappoint and I cannot wait to read what comes next. Each book in the series focuses on one of the Metcalfe siblings but I was super excited to read about Range's story ever since reading the first book in the series. I've read the first two books (which were also excellent and recommended) but this one might be my favorite.

First, the cover is great and well done.
Second, the story hooks you from the start and you cannot stop reading until you figure out what happens next.
Third, the romance was beautiful, gritty and authentic.
Fourth, I loved the characters and their backstories. Everyone is on a journey and though they had missteps, they did not give up.
Fifth, faith and redemption are woven throughout this story. So inspiring. As someone who is passionate about ending human trafficking, I loved this story so much. I wish it hadn't ended quite so quickly because I wanted more.

PG-13 for some violence. The author does a good job of using fake swear words and not getting too descriptive when it comes to violence or retelling stories of rape.

Highly recommend this fantastic story with romance, action, rescue, intrigue that will not only give you a glimpse inside the world of human trafficking but also give you hope for what can be done to end it.

My thanks to the author and publisher for providing me with an ARC of the book. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own. No positive review was expected and no compensation received.

The black sheep of the Metcalfe clan, Range hasn’t kept in touch with family for ten years. When the young lady he hoped to marry married his older brother instead, he nursed the bitter root of anger and shunned any contact. After leaving the Coast Guard, he shifted into the life of a black ops operative. Charged with bringing in the “madam” behind a trafficking ring, he finds things are not as they seem. Could it be that she is not the disgusting person he assumed he would be bringing to justice?

Ms. Kendig is a talented author who deftly combines military action with romance while crafting engaging characters and fast-paced stories. This is the third book in her newest series featuring the Metcalfe siblings. If you’ve read her books before, the names here might seem familiar as members of this family have appeared in other series. For me, these books feel like reuniting with old friends. If you haven’t read any of her books before, no problem. They each stand well on their own.

Though her romance is usually clean (and the romance here, as usual, remains clean), the subject matter of this series, human trafficking, plunges the reader into the horrors of that world. I appreciate Ms. Kendig’s efforts to bring notice to this billion-dollar + a year, international business.

The only negative I noticed—and this is just because I am used to Ms. Kendig’s books being so well edited—was missing words in places. A minor issue since the story was so well written.

I highly recommend Range and look forward to the next book in this series.

From the moment I met Range in Willow I was intrigued. How does he come sweeping in with a no care attitude and still gets the results he needs. I really wanted to know his story and now I do and I love him.
One thing about this particular series is that it's not an easy one to read but it's necessary. It's intense, it's raw it pulls at your heart and it pulls you to pray.
Range is out for justice and will do his best to accomplish it. Trying his best to keep Kasra safe, he sometimes let's his emotions take the best of him and ends up hurting her and himself in the long run. We get to see both sides of the coin in this story, one who has been exposed to trafficking and the guilt and hurt that comes with it and from the perspective of someone who is doing his best to stop this horrible event.
Packed with action and romance and drama you may keep turning the pages to know what happens next or take pauses in between the story to think and pray. However long or short it takes you to finish this story, it leaves you with the strong impression that this is an evil that has gripped our world and we must do everything we can to bring an end to it.

Yet another fabulous instalment in the Metcalfe series by Ronie Kendig!!

How can I explain how good this book is? Let’s see, at the start I did NOT like Range (due to his back story in other books) and the start of the book convinced me I was right about that… and then… by the end of the book I LOVED him!! Such a fabulously well written and well developed character arc!! And in true Ronie-style, it’s packed with action, flawed characters and real issues.

A word of warning - this book deals with heavy stuff, mainly related to human trafficking. But she handles it with sensitivity and grace.

It’s a fabulous read and I didn’t want to put it down until I was finished! Can’t wait for the next instalment in December!

Highly recommend both this book and the whole series!!

Thank you so much @kendigronie for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC. I was only asked to give an honest review in return.

After reading Willow, book 2 in this series, I was highly anticipating Range's story. He had a lot of explaining to do regarding how attitude towards...well...everyone.
And Range did not disappoint! This man, this warrior, has so much anger built up inside him. And he is using that anger to make those that do horrible things to others pay. But is it really as black and white as he see's it?
I absolutely loved this story. The hard topic of human trafficking in this series continues through this book. It's a tough topic but I think Ronie Kendig does such a good job of showing you the depravity of what these woman and children are going through, how they are forced to live, without taking you down a hole of complete hopelessness. She does this be weaving a thread of hope through out the entire story. It's barely there at times for the characters but it is there. The strength of the characters is a big part of this book.
I would highly recommend this book this series to everyone.

None of them knew how to keep their noses clean. They found trouble without looking for it. That was part of the Metcalfe brand.

From the first time we’ve met Range in this story, you see a no nonsense, black and white guy who is out to right wrongs, especially against children.

Range had so much anger build up, which was just jumping out from the pages. Yet, he was also strong and compassionate.

The readers had more compassion towards Kasra, because we saw from the start a side Range could not and did not want to see, but slowly was revealed to him as they found themselves in dangerous situations.

“Your anger has never frightened me. I … understand. It makes sense. It’s an armor around you, shielding wounds you nurse, ones you think make you stronger.”

Ronie Kendig again mastered taking a very difficult subject, bring across the horrible situation, but in a sensitive way.

I've really enjoyed this series and have been impatient for each release as it's set to launch. But what I love the most is that while it's a fictional series, it calls attention to a very real, very serious problem that still exists in the world today, and that's human trafficking. Each book tackles a different aspect and forces you as a reader to consider circumstances that aren't so pretty to think about. I liked that for this story, Range was a very black & white personality type, and it took his journey with Kasra to begin to grasp how much a victim she was herself and all the good she tried to accomplish while living under impossible circumstances. It's easy to villainize everyone in a world of corruption, but it's not always so black and white for the ones who have no choice. My only complaint in this one is that I felt the language was overdone. There wasn't any official cursing, but the phrases were either cut-off just before the curse word, or other words were inserted in place of. But it was CONSTANT.  Other than that it was another read I didn't want to put down, just like the other books in this series.

I've loved each and everyone of these Metcalfe books. This one about Range is definitely not the exception.

Afghanistan.

Rescuing children from a dangerous human trafficking ring.

It's about Range and the notorious Madam Kasra.

Range knew all about this famed Madam and the horrible person she was, the awful things she'd been responsible for. Only, things were not quite as he'd expected.

I enjoyed seeing this story unfold before my eyes.

Ms. Kendig writes about this very difficult topic with much wisdom and grace.

I highly recommend this book.

The Metcalfe’s series by Ronie Kendig features an element of human trafficking in each novel. Kendig has already published Stone and Willow. Now it is time to read Range’s story. The idea of human trafficking frightens me to the core. I can’t imagine how horrible it would be to be in the situation or to even have the guts to be an owner of this type of work. These are someone’s daughters, sisters, and friends that are being used as a sex slave. Anyways, Range by Kendig has Range trying to remove and rescues Kasra from a brothel in Saudi Arabia. At first, he has an opinion of her, but as the story progresses along, of course, the view changes. Plenty of action and running from bullets. Lying to each other. Finally trusting each other a little by little. Readers who read Stone and Willow might like this one a little better. I know that I did. Range was not as graphic as Willow was, but it still has the aftermath and stories of what goes on with victims of human trafficking. Romance develops right along the building of trust and the adventure. Overall, Range by Ronie Kendig is a fast-paced novel that features the race to leave the world of human trafficking. Readers who enjoy lots of movement in their story with a hint of romance will devour this novel. I sure did.

Ronie Kendig has done it again! This story is incredible! I loved everything about it! I’ve been waiting for Range’s story ever since I read Canyon’s story and it was totally worth the wait! I am so happy he finally got his happily ever after!

I loved Range and Kasra together! Their story is a beautiful story of hope, healing, and forgiveness. I loved how Range had to work through his perceptions of Kasra to see the person she truly is. I also loved how this story surprised me at every turn. And the ending was just perfection!!

Somehow, Range has jumped up to my favorite story in this series and that is saying something because I absolutely loved both Stone and Willow. When I read the last word, I wanted to start it all over again and that is rare for me.

This series is one you don’t want to miss. I know the subject matter is hard to read, but this series has really brought to light what is happening in our world and I’m thankful for authors that are brave enough to write about it.

In true-to-herself fashion, Ronie Kendig has again delivered another heart-pounding, high-stakes story with a driven hero and strong heroine, each fighting darkness from their pasts. When they find themselves thrown together in a fight for their lives, it becomes a team effort of mutual survival. This gritty, compelling narrative takes readers into the dark, hidden underworld of human trafficking which Kendig delivers in a tactful, delicate way while preserving hope, leaving readers with a sense of fulfillment and redemption.

HIGHLIGHTS:
FIERCE, ANGRY, DETERMINED HERO · COURAGEOUS, STRONG HEROINE WITH A DARK PAST · ON THE RUN FOR THEIR LIVES · FORCED MARRIAGE · REDEMPTIVE, BEAUTY FROM THE ASHES STORY · SIZZLING CHEMISTRY · UNPUTDOWNABLE · FAMILY FOREVER

This was easily my favorite story (so far!) in the Metcalfes series. For readers who enjoyed Kendig’s Wolfsbane (Book 3 in the Discarded Heroes story) about Canyon Metcalfe, they know the history between Canyon and his younger brother, Range, whom this novel is about. Years have gone by and Range is still harboring a deep anger and hurt over his brother’s actions. Throwing himself into his work, he’s teamed up with OMEN, a black ops group working against human trafficking.

This story begins with high-stakes and that level of intensity carries throughout the novel, keeping the suspense high and me, full engrossed. Kendig masterfully creates relatable main characters that are raw and authentic. She allows readers glimpses into their hearts and through those glimpses, she weaves threads of compassion, romance, mystery and redemption.

I can’t even begin to express how much I loved this story! I simply couldn’t put it down. From the suspense, to the teamwork of OMEN, to Range’s hotheaded temper and Kasra’s cunning mind, to the forced proximity (er, marriage) and running for their lives, to the obvious chemistry between them, to the appearances of other beloved Kendig characters, this story had every beloved hallmark of a Ronie Kendig release.

I personally love the dark, foreboding and broody hero who ultimately has a soft heart (which is typically one that comes with baggage from being broken in the past) and Range was exactly that. Kendig allowed me to see right through his character to his true self and hidden insecurities. As for Kasra, I wondered about her true background from the very beginning and found that as her story unfolded, it too was a broken, sad past that led her to becoming the woman Range loathed so very much… that is until he finds himself falling in love with her. Oh, the tension between these two! The higher the tension, they harder they fall… in love, giving this story a rich romance and such a beautiful, redemptive story.

A definite, hands-down recommendation from me! This is a clean read that appeals to both Christian and secular readers with a subject that is dark and foreboding but must be addressed, delivered in a truly inspirational way with courageous, heroic characters who are relatable and are just (somewhat) ordinary people who set out to overcome extraordinary obstacles. I recommend this series be read in order to fully grasp the overarching content and themes. If you truly want to understand the character of Range, I do recommend reading Wolfsbane first.

Content Note: Trauma/Trigger Warnings - Sexual and physical assault is mentioned multiple times, including rape and the rape of young children. Due the human trafficking theme, there is mention of abuse, rape and being sold into slavery. Some mentions of curses (nothing spelled out or a clean/alternate version used).

So Range has had some quick appearances in the other books, and he did play a role in helping Willow in the last one but then he promised he was never going to talk to his family again and here we are! This book definitely took you into some rough waters. It continues to talk about the trafficking that the others saw in the previous books and kind of took it a step further when Kasra was able to talk about things.

Kasra was definitely strong. I loved how she cared for her girls even if the things she had to do weren't the best. When she finally opened up to Range about things, it was horrible what she endured, but I liked that she still managed to stay a good person. I liked how she saw through Range's masks and started calling him on holding onto his anger. I did get a little frustrated that she asked him to hear what she said but when he tried to explain things and had even told her that he needed her to listen to everything, she jumped to "he's clearly not interested". Granted, Range didn't help things considering he'd been pretty cold/mostly upfront about how he saw her but still.

Range was both amazing and made me want to slap him. At first, I could understand his feelings on Kasra, especially when he was still seeing her as the Madam of Kandahar, but it took him too long to get to the "I wonder what she really had to go through" phase of things. I did like that he still protected her and everything, even though at first it was because she had the Viper's name, but he still did his best to protect her. Even if he was fighting with himself about it. Loved that he listened to Kasra about letting things go, and apologized to Canyon for things.

I did have a few questions about things though...things like what happened to the rest of Omen and if the girls really got out of there safely? Who compromised Omen and was monitoring Range's communications? Who moved Atia to the old man's house? How did Canyon and co. find Range and Kasra in the first place (although I was glad they did and loved the Nightshade appearances!)? Just a few questions but uh, hopefully they get answered!

(Be advised that this review and book subject matter deal with assault and human trafficking). This is my favorite book of the Metcalfe series thus far! Longtime readers of Ronie Kendig have been waiting a long time for Range’s story and redemption arc, and this book does not disappoint. Range Metcalfe has been estranged from his family for years since his brother married an ex-girlfriend. Operating under the radar in an Afghanistan post-US exit, Range is tasked with bringing down the woman believed to be responsible for the local branch of the global human trafficking ring that the characters of this series has been focused on taking down. Range soon finds that there is more than meets the eye, and Kasra may be as much of a victim as the rest of the women involved. This book is full of the fast-paced, “rapid fire” fiction that is part of Kendig’s signature style. It is also reminiscent of her Discarded Heroes series in the way that it includes difficult subject matter mixed with the camaraderie, romance, action, and world-building of the characters. Kendig has said that she wants to use this series to bring awareness to the darkness of modern-day human trafficking, so there are consequently parts of this book that are hard to read and that I personally skipped over. Kendig still mixes this with moments of levity and a thread of enemies-to-lovers weaving Range and Kasra together. Mixed with familiar faces of previous series and classic Metcalfe family interactions, long-time fans of Kendig will find a lot to love about this installment! I have always had a soft spot for Range despite his less-than-stellar past choices, so was so excited to begin to make his way out and back to his family. Favorite of the series so far!

OH. WOW. Ronie Kendig’s Range will make you question everything you thought you knew – and while that might throw you at first, it’s really the best kind of thing. Range is even more intense on his own than he was in his quick appearances in the previous books, and the chip on his shoulder has grown heavier with time. It’s honed his skills and focused his energies on finding justice for people who are hurt, neglected, or abused. His ideology is black and white and rarin’ for a fight.

That usually means that you’re going to find one, and Range is no exception. He has the means and skills to go after the baddies, and that’s his goal – only first he has to figure out who they are. Range is the best possible combination of Superman and Captain America because he’s a Good and Patriotism personified – but what do you do when Evil doesn’t wear the face you thought it did?

Range’s adventure is so much more than fistfights and battle scenes, though there are lots of those. It’s also mental anguish and coming to terms with pain, betrayal, and disappointment. It’s learning to forgive and trust and tell the truth, and those internal battles are every bit as difficult as the ones you fight with your fists.

I love the way that Kendig is exploring the many facets of sex trafficking through this series. It seems like such a black-and-white issue, and it is in that it shouldn’t ever happen, but it also isn’t in that so many are caught within it by force and violence and pressure. There are so many angles and emotions and demons that must be dealt with, for survivors and their friends, families, and anyone in close contact with them, and Kendig delves into them with grace and care.

This series is a must-read for all who are able to read about these atrocities – because without knowing about them, we’ll never be equipped to arm ourselves with truth and take the action that we have been enabled to do, just as Kendig does by taking up her sword-pen and writing these stories. Range releases on September 30 – snag your copy now and get ready to do battle with evil.

I feel inadequate to review this novel. Range is one of those stories that is incredibly difficult to read because it truthfully exposes just how evil some people in power can be. Several characters have experienced things most of us cannot even imagine yet they have somehow never lost hope and continue to attempt to help others in similar circumstances.

Kasra is one of those characters. She has endured mistreatment and degradation to her own body as well as earning the disreputable reputation of the madame who sells young women and children for the sex trade. But Kasra has worked quietly behind the scenes to help as many of them escape as possible. She has not always been successful but her heart yearns to see them all free. Range is one of the men sent to Afghanistan to capture Kasra in order to expose the leaders of the trafficking business. His only focus is to see her punished. Forced to flee together when things go horribly wrong, Range and Kasra learn more about each other than expected and each of them is surprised at what they find.

Range is an exciting tale filled with action and danger. Readers will learn more than they probably want to about the horrors of human trafficking but the author handles the subject carefully and without unneeded information. I found Kazra to be an extraordinary woman and was encouraged by how Range was eventually able to see the real person inside her.

Although Range can be difficult to read at times, I found it to be a story full of hope. I encourage other readers to give it a chance.

This is book number 3 in The Metcalfes series and I didn’t see how things could get any wilder than the first two books but I think it did with Range. Those Metcalf men are tough and fearless and Range has a chip on his shoulder and revenge on his mind. Kasra is trying to escape the life of a “Madam”that she was forced into and Range is determined to make her pay. Lot’s of action dodging bullets and trying to get out of Afghanistan without getting killed. Oh and some romance thrown in makes for an exciting read that will keep you turning pages.

Range is a must read for suspense fans. This is Range Metcalfe's story. He's been the illusive brother that dropped out of the family years ago. Brooding and dark, Range finds himself in an impossible situation. He's on the hunt for a woman that is allegedly running a child trafficking ring. But looks are deceiving, and Range winds up having to protect the woman he once targeted.

Ronie's books are always intense and raw. The subject of human trafficking is a hard one, and Ronie tackles it head on. But there's always hope weaved into every page. I highly recommend the entire series.

Talk about suspense! I love a good suspense read and this author always delivers! This is book three in a series and it’s best read in order as each book focuses on a different sibling. However, they can be read as stand-alone books as well.

When I started this book I wasn’t sure what to expect. I mean, I read the description and I’ve read books by this author before so I knew to expect high-level suspense that would keep me reading. But what I didn’t expect was that it was going to capture my soul and hold me captive until I finished it. And even then I couldn’t get away. I was still thinking about the book and the characters. Even after the book was over I was not ready to let them go.

I loved how the author was able to bring out and talk about dark and heavy topics without the reader feeling like they themselves were a part of the evil. You know, that dirty and nasty feeling you get that makes you need a shower when you deal with horrors. You don’t get that from this book. It’s clean and though it has hard topics they’re done with grace and tact.

Get ready for the ride of your life with this book! I cannot recommend it enough. Please do yourself a favor and grab the entire series.

Another great installment by Ronie Kendig. Man, I love the Metcalfe family! I might have a soft spot for Range after reading previous books.

This book deals with the same heavy topics as Stone and Willow. I feel like Ronie does a fantastic job of exposing the darkness, while at the same time making sure to shine a light on the heroes that fight this everyday. My heart goes out to the victims and their rescuers (both fictional and real life).

Range has an incredible story, and he’s dealing with so many inner struggles, feeling like he’s not worthy of love. It doesn’t stop him from doing what he knows is right. He goes through so much growth in this story.

Kasra is such a complex, strong character and I really felt for her. The more I read, the more my heart broke, but the more I admired her strength and resilience.

I can’t wait to read the next story, and I hope that I can see more of these characters in the future!

I received a complimentary digital copy from the publisher. A positive review was not required. All views and opinions are my own.

You know when the author gives you permission up front to take breaks from this story and it's heavy topics, that it's going to be an intense ride. And it really, really was. So intense. The constant forward momentum, the scary, horrifying reality of sex trafficking and Range's giant attitude problem made this story at some points, overwhelming. I did take breaks but always during those breaks, I was thinking about the story and the characters.

Your heart is guaranteed to break when it comes to Kasra. What a horrifying life, what sacrifice, what desperate conditions. Despite all this, Kasra is probably one of the purest individuals, filled with intentions to make life better for everyone around her, even at great personal cost. How can you not love and be emotionally connected to a character like that?

Range is a completely different story. He is angry. He is tough. He is stubborn. He is laser focused. He is ready to take on the world. He has a slow shift from this to a likeable character for me. He was harsh with his words and even knowing it came from a place of hurt and misunderstanding, it was hard to swallow. Especially when directed toward Kasra. I struggled a bit with Range but definitely appreciated his transformation.

This is a story you need to buckle up for. It's a crazy, action packed, intense ride. It stole my breath and my heart.

Content: violence, death, peril, sex trafficking with some details of sexual and physical abuse. Some mild faith elements.

Did we need another Metcalfe to fall in love with? Apparently so because Range is broody and wants justice! What more could we want in another Metcalfe brother?!

You get a vibe about the book from the start and it's an intense one. Range is with a team to snatch the Madam from the Raud compound and force her to tell them who is behind everything! Kasra has plans of her own and as we see her preparing, we also get to know her better.

I think most of us would see the trafficking world the same way Range does. I'm thankful that there are people out there fighting like he is to bring people to justice. But through the author's writing, we also see that those who are meant to protect don't always do as they should. She shows how twisted minds can be. I also believe we forget that people who have been part of this "trade" didn't become part of it willingly - again, we see this through the character interactions.

Range has to do everything he can to keep Kasra safe & protected. The race to get her secure has both of their lives at stake and they get more than a little banged up along the way.

There's SO much to this story. Unless we've lived their lives, I don't think any of us can know the depth of terror trafficked people live through. The author does an EXCELLENT job (sadly) of giving the reader a terrifying glimpse into what they must endure. Utterly heartbreaking!

We NEED more of these stories, as painful as they are to read, to continue to shed light on this inhumane treatment of human beings - those created in the image of God. I'm thankful Ronie has tackled this extremely difficult topic, has made it raw & gritty, and has shed a light on what happens in the darkness.

This was a very interesting, emotional read. I am very glad and appreciate that the author gave a "warning" about the books content at the very beginning of the book. I am also glad that even with the content, nothing was graphic.

Range is finally able to break into a foreign trafficking ring and capture the main woman in charge and rescue other women and children. Except things don't go by the plan and aren't as they seem. Nothing is black and white, right or wrong in this story.

Range is left to protect and guard Kasra  as they flee for their lives traveling the globe trying to get answers. I liked how they fought but then worked together to take down the most powerful person of all. Range had alot of anger towards Kasra without knowing her life story and how the past 10 years in prostitution had been for her.

Lots of drama, suspense, heartache, unspeakable horror and even some family drama towards the end.  I enjoyed getting to know the characters and later the Metcalfe family. I definitely plan on reading more in this series!

This book starts fast paced, and doesn't let up until you read the final page! While I didn't read the first two books in the series (something I plan to remedy!), I was able to jump right in to this story and fully appreciate it. I'm sure there was some of the finer details I missed, from Range's heartbreak, that were covered in the previous stories, but readers can start here and enjoy the story.
I loved how this story is about two different worlds and cultures colliding. Kasra is an amazingly strong heroine, especially after all she has gone through.

While this book deals with the difficult subject of human trafficking, Ronie Kendig handles the gritty subjects well.

This is a wonderful, hard to put down story. I highly recommend picking it up!

I received this book from Just Read. This is my honest review.
