I discovered Lynn Rush and this series while searching Netgalley. The cover drew my attention and once I read the synopsis I was hooked. I loved the chemistry between Angelina and Hunter and how they seemed to just know what the other needed to overcome their fears. Rush is a phenomenal writer, who’s story telling ability keeps you hanging and draws you in deeper as you go page by page. Ican’t wait to read the next story in this amazing series!
I received a free copy of this book via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Before I commence this review, I would like to start off by saying to please please please check the trigger warnings prior to reading this book. It's incredibly intense and deals with heavy topics.
Limitless was such a powerful book about healing. Angelina, or Lina, was a character I was rooting for from the very first page. She has been through the unimaginable and yet she has such a drive and motivation to make it to walk across the stage at graduation. We also meet Hunter, a damaged soul who is on the run with his Mother, escaping the danger his Father brings. Hunter has sworn no attachment to anyone, but here comes Lina.
I won't lie, it took me a little bit to get into them. I didn't find myself urgently flipping the pages until maybe 20-30% in? However, somewhere a switch clicked and I couldn't get enough.
Their story, like I said above, was one of healing. While I felt maybe a little at the beginning it was insta-lovey, it was slow-burn, which I loved because you can see how they were helping each other. There were setbacks yet such triumphant successes, and I really felt like I was there with them. Sometimes I thought the pacing was a bit quick/rushed, but it didn't detract from them as a couple.
The last 20% I was incredibly stressed out, and I will not include spoilers, but I was nervousssss. Epilogue was adorable. What an incredibly heartwarming story.
If this is a series (which I see Survivors, #1, soooo Lynn, I am hoping that means yes), will we be seeing Lizzie (and Drey)?? I'm still so curious about Bill's past. I would love to see in future books easter eggs with how Lina and Hunter are doing - sooooo maybe we'll see Lizzie's book? I have a feeling we're not done with these characters, and I will eagerly await news of the next book.
This was the first book I've read by Lynn Rush, but will certainly not be the last.
Thank you to Valentine PR and Lynn Rush for the ARC copy.
This is my first book by this author, and I loved it. This author weaves a gorgeous story of two strangers who against all odds find strength in each other to heal and live the lives they want and deserve.
Angelina and Hunter are dealing with the effects of the horrendous trauma they have been put through closing themselves off from most others and not imagining a future outside of their own private hell.
With a lot of encouragement, Angelina finds it time to break out of her shell and take the first steps to her freedom when she encounters Hunter.
Hunter is living day to day knowing that at any time his life will change again. He has decided that having a relationship, especially love, is not an option in his life – until he meets Angelina.
They begin to spend time with each other and little by little their walls are breaking down and their relationship starts to blossom. But is it enough to survive the secrets haunting their lives?
The author handled very difficult subject matters with the utmost respect and decency. Their growth together and individually will inspire you. You will feel every emotion with Hunter and Angelina!! Such an astounding story!!
I can’t wait to see what this author does with the side characters.
Lina and Hunter are both dealing with their own issues (she has agoraphobia and he’s hiding from his abusive father). Reading about their journeys to recovery and learning to trust again was so beautiful to watch. The process each goes through always felt realistic and true to the characters. I loved that the hard stuff wasn’t glossed over and they actually communicate. I also loved that having each other didn’t automatically solve each other’s problems but rather provided a support system.
The romance in the book was so sweet and heartwarming. Hunter was so patient, understanding and sympathetic with Lina. He was protective but also let her do things in her own time. Hunter was just wonderful and definitely a new book boyfriend. Lina was so sweet and earnest. She lets Hunter into her world and starts to fall in love and gain some of her life back. She was also so understanding of him with his anger management problem and the situation with his dad. They were each other’s person. This book reaffirms the believe that love can conquer all.
This is a closed door romance which I think was a smart choice given Lina’s past trauma. I didn’t mind it and there are plenty of romantic moments that sweep you off your feet that I didn’t feel the story needed spicy scenes.
I think if you’re a fan of Colleen Hover you should give this a try. Also try if you enjoy meet cutes, friends to lovers, neighbors to lovers, close proximity, protective hero, slow burn, and closed door romance. This was a beautiful, moving romance about survivors and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
CW: flashbacks of past abuse/sex crimes (parental abuse, domestic abuse, rape, torture, kidnapping), physical violence, agoraphobia, anger management problems, panic attacks, anxiety, death and PTSD.
* Thank you to Valentine PR and the author for providing an advanced copy. I voluntarily read and reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own. *
4 and 1/2 Stars Once I started reading Limitless by Lynn Rush I knew that it had the perfect title. From the beginning of the book you see that the main characters, Hunter and Angelina "Lina" feel like that they have things about themselves and their lives that limits them. But once they are together they both begin to see that they can live limitless and move on from the limitations in their lives. For Lina she wants to move past her trauma that has turned her into an agoraphobic. Hunter wants to move on from his father and the horrors associated with him. I really enjoyed how Lina and Hunter both worked on their journeys to move on with their lives, both together, by themselves, and with the help of a therapist. While it's sweet when characters solve each others' problems, having them work on their issues alone means that they won't crumble as easily and they'll be able to stand strong on their own and even stronger when they're together. Limitless not only was a good new adult romance, there also was a psychological thriller aspect to the book. Because Lina was agoraphobic at the beginning I was just getting Rear Window vibes, even though she never witnessed anything like a murder while in her apartment there was just that feeling. And because of the ever looming threat of Hunter's dad it did add to that feeling, at least for me. One thing that I wished was a little bit more fleshed out in the book was the relationship between Lina and her parents, particular her dad. Throughout the book Lina makes comments about how her dad has her hidden away, ashamed of her because of her agoraphobia but then at the end of the book it's all hunky dory between them. I just wanted more of a scene where you see them talk about their relationship, maybe see the dad say why they stayed away. I just think it would have been a nice addition to the story.
This was not at all what I was expecting. A nice surprise? Maybe…
Angelina Raine, went through something so terrible and now she hasn’t left her apartment for more than three years. She is working with her therapist and trying to move on from her ordeal, but it’s a long road. While trying to get out of her apartment one night, she has a panic attack and runs into Hunter…
Hunter Amos is a former UFC fighter and he is muscled and well built and huge. So when he runs into Angelina he assumes he scared her and helps her back to her apartment. But he is also infatuated with this woman who is trying to overcome her fears and even though he has vowed not to get involved with another woman again, he cant help but want to help her and more than anything protect her from anything that might her ever again. But Hunter also has his own secrets and his own demons to overcome. Will this get in the way of his new ‘relationship’ with Angelina or will it bring them closer together…
I couldn’t stop reading this story. Like I said totally not what I expected. But definitely a surprise for me. Hunter was like this gentle giant. I loved that he never pushed Angelina. He took everything in her time and just was there for her for whatever she needed. Angelina was totally crushing overcoming her fears, especially after meeting Hunter and I think she felt immediately safe with him. Slow build on the romance side, they started as friends but the attraction was there. Good read from start to end 😊
If there was ever a story that proves that love is all powerful and conquers all this is it. Angelina (Lina) and Hunter's story pulls on heartstrings I forgot I even had. This story is so deep and relatable to so many who have tragic histories. It hits on very trigger hitting topics so I suggest looking up the trigger warnings if you're triggered by SA or DV. I had never heard of agoraphobia but after reading this I knew what it was from experience I just didn't know it had a name. We follow these two on pushes and pulls as they maneuver and help each other heal their hearts from what Lina and Hunter have endured in their past along with Hunter's mom.
The connection these two have is instant even if one didn't realize it at first. It also was nice to see that even when important people let Lina down..that she found her best friend through the outcome of her tragic past and has a support system. I love that the therapist made it clear she cared and pushed Lina to try harder without putting too much pressure on Lina's situation. Each and every character in this story has their own story to tell and I loved unravelling their meanings throughout the book. I can't wait to read the second book in this series!
Poor Lina, she's gone through the unimaginable, and it's left her with a severe case of agoraphobia to which I understood completely. However, Lina isn't weak, she's the strongest heroine so she keeps trying over & over again which made me give her all the respect in the world. She's very set on attending graduation so she just keeps trying, but things take a turn when she runs into a man who seems very big & mean, however, it will change things for the better. Hunter is on the run from his past, and no, he's not mean in the slightest despite his outward appearance. He knows getting involved with people can put he & his family in danger, but there's something about Lina that makes that go out the window. I LOVED every minute of this emotional story of healing with a suspenseful kicker. I was on the edge of my seat filled with anxiety as I worried that the other shoe would drop while wanting to hug these two throughout. I'm super excited about this new series, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed this story. Angelina and Hunter are the perfect equals to make a whole. These two compliment each other so much that you can tell them being together is inevitable!
Angelina has so much to overcome and with the help of a stranger she takes the first steps to healing. She has so much strength that it is admirable how much she conquers with the right person by her side!
Hunter has a past that will not let him move forward and a ghost that haunts him all the time. But to finally make the moves to live a life he never thought he could have, he finds a woman with more strength than she knows.
These two together as so sweet and intense at times. But you can tell the love and respect they have for one another. This story will show you, you are always stronger than you think!
*i knew i was gonna love this book four chapters in. i loved both the characters very much *i loved the fact that she was the one who comes from a rich family instead of the mmc *an emotional read, *i loved how hunter was careful and patient with her, *lots of push and pull from the hero( but for a good reason) *closed door romance *protective hero, shy/strong heroine, coming of age *insta love -ish
* no cheating * No om drama * No ow drama ( there is a scene or two where a women he works with shows interest in him but he turns her down both times) * HEA * Epilogue ❗️check tw❗️ ❗️ mention of Rape, abuse, violence….❗️
Thank you valentine pr and the author for providing an arc.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This book was such an emotional roller coaster. But in the best of ways. I was in love with the character of Lina right from the beginning and I only loved her character more as the book went on. She was so much stronger than she realized and gave herself credit for. I can't imagine dealing with agoraphobia. And the fact that Lina was doing her best to overcome it just showed how strong she was. Even when she didn't always meet her goals, Lina didn't give up. She tried again and again. Going through her journey with her was an incredible thing. And I love the way Lynn Rush wrote her character. It certainly left me wanting to read more about Lina.
And then there was Hunter. Wow. Talk about a great book boyfriend! He had it all going on and didn't even realize it. He was also going through his own issues and, I won't spoil anything, but when his secrets were revealed, I was blown away. I definitely didn't see it coming. And that isn't the only twist that was within this book. There was more than enough mystery and suspense to keep me on the edge of my seat. And I honestly never saw the twists and turns coming. That's how you know you're reading an exceptional book. Unexpected twists and turns keep things interesting and this one had that in spades.
The way Hunter and Lina were drawn to one another was a beautiful thing. And the progression of their relationship was so real. The depth of their characters was beyond incredible. And it was just another part of this book that kept me hooked. This is the first book by Lynn Rush I've read, but after the great experience I've had reading 'Limitless', this certainly won't be the last book I read by her. The story flowed in a natural way and it felt like it took me no time at all to read it. Plus it left me wanting to read more. I loved these characters and Lynn Rush definitely had me feeling an emotional attachment to them.
I strongly recommend this book to anyone who loves romantic suspense novels, strong, independent females, and protective male characters who wear their hearts on their sleeves and love with everything they have.
It seems appropriate that Angelina meets a savior on the day she finally ventures out of her apartment, determined to make it to the lobby. But when Hunter seems intent on starting something with her, what can she possibly offer this man?
Hunter has vowed no attachments, because the way his life is now doesn't allow them. But when he meets a beautiful woman who needs help, he's drawn to her in ways he never imagined. He's never forgiven himself for the trauma of his past, but if he can forgive himself, perhaps he and Lina can help heal each other.
I really wasn't expecting how heavy but inspirational Hunter and Angelina's story ended up being. She's been working on getting past her own trauma, on moving past her agoraphobia, just as Hunter's been living his life trying to move on and forgive himself for his trauma. I love how they gently came together, how slow burn it was, and how beautifully he wooed her. There are triggers here, though, so if you are bothered by these, please beware. I personally loved this story, triggers or no, but others may not be able to handle the trauma that both these amazing people went through.
ARC provided by Valentine PR for an honest review.
TW/CW: Mentions of sexual abuse, mention of domestic abuse, agoraphobia, violence, mentions of PTSD,
THE GOOD 😀
After reading and enjoying Crossing the Line, I was looking to read more by this author as I really enjoyed it. Limitless was so different in comparison, however I didn’t love it any less. The story of Angelina and her determination to overcome her agoraphobia was truly amazing, and I loved how strong she was, even after all that she’d been through. Having suffered a violent attack during her freshman year of college, Angelina hasn’t left her flat in over three years. When a trip down to the reception area in the hotel where she lives results in her panicking and passing out, she finds herself being rescued by Hunter. And this is where a beautiful friendship is born. This book was everything I love in a friends to lovers romance. Hunter and Angelina were such an amazing couple; they’d both experienced their fair share of trauma and were looking for ways to overcome it. Finding a kindred spirit in one another, I loved how they were a pillar of strength, pushing each other out of their comfort zone and learning about each other along the way. From Hunter and his endless patience and kindness to Angelina’s pure strength and determination, this story was incredible. I loved reading about the growth of their relationship; they both had their reasons for holding back initially however it was so wonderful to see the both of them give in and learn to trust their feelings. Limitless was an addictive and engaging read and I cannot wait to read more from this author.
THE BAD ☹️
Hunter’s Dad. That bloke has some serious issues.
Thank you to the author and @valentine_pr_ for providing me with a copy of this to read. This is my honest review.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Incredible story about healing and inner strength STEAM LEVEL: 🔥 STAR RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book, provided by Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Lynn's writing style always sucks me in - it's an easy flow. My latest read of Lynn's is a heartbreaking story of two shattered people who find each other exactly when they need to. Angelina has been shut up in her apartment for over 3 years, rendered agoraphobic by a tragedy in her past. Hunter and his mom move in next door, and they have their secrets, too. Hunter and Angelina's meet cute is rather unorthodox, but the more time they spend together, the closer they become.
I adored Hunter. Unfortunately, his anger issues because a huge problem, but he was so devoted to Lina. She is definitely a great character, too, and her issues ran so deep. But the way Hunter helped Lina... his patience, his understanding, his love. He demonstrated over and over and over how he felt about her. And it brought her out of her shell. But when Hunter's past finally catches up with him, will he and Lina be able to move forward?
Trigger warnings here include kidnapping, anxiety, panic attacks, sexual assault, physical assault, death, grief. Yeah, it's kind of heavy. The details aren't an overload, but scenes and conversations in this book include these triggers.
Well, this is my very first book from this Author and I absolutely loved word to word, sentence to sentence and chapter to chapter.
Angelina... The Female lead even I love to call her Lina. She's such an inspiring character. She's suffering from agoraphobic and the way she brings herself to attend her graduation is something worth admiring.
Hunter... The Male Lead, he truly knows how to take care of his girl. Damn every moment he held her close to him was just amazing.
Most of the books I read failed to explain the mental pain of main character from their past. But this author really did her best with her writing skills by explaining Lina's struggles to overcome her past.
Tropes Insta-love Strong Heroine Tattoo Hero Romantic Mystery Emotional
Trigger warning ⚠️ Rape. (Can skip chapter 18)
I suggest that because this book is definitely something you shouldn't miss. Yes, it is emotional but something worth reading too.
Thank you so much for providing me the ARC @valentine_pr_ @netgalley and @lynnrushwrites after accepting my request. I completely enjoyed this book.
This is Angelina and Hunter’s journey. Angelina has not left her apartment for 3-years, but wanting to attend graduation, she knows she must pluck up all her courage and venture outside her apartment, and she walks straight into a tall, tattooed, and sexy former UFC fighter. Fate has destined these two damaged souls to be together and heal each other. Hunter will so whatever he must to protect Angelina and keep her safe. The chemistry between these two is intense and undeniable. This is a well written story which has family, hope, romance, challenges, trust, insecurities, overcoming fear, healing, trauma, revelations, suspense, intrigue, and love, which leads to a riveting and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
This book was really quite special. Whilst it is a romance, and the romance is so god darn sweet, the story is more about surviving and overcoming anything.
Both of our main characters have had utterly tragic lives but they’re both so strong for overcoming it every single day and wanting to be more than their past for the sake of their future.
Despite the harder topics covered this book actually read really easily and it was a speedy read. The time jumps kept the story going at a good pace.
Just for personal preferences I would have liked some steam but I can also understand why based on the story it was not included.
This was a new author for me and I surely will be reading more from this author. This is Lina and Hunter journey and it is one that is moving as well as inspiring. This book is very relatable and is easy for the reader to connect with. I enjoyed the way the author had the two characters actually communicate unlike a lot of romances where it’s nothing but misunderstandings and miscommunication. I also loved the support system that the two became for each other instead of trying to solve the others problem they worked together as a team. There is some heavy topics so if you are easily triggered just go into this with caution. It’s a book you won’t want to miss and once you get reading it will be very hard to put down. I enjoyed this book very much and would recommend.
These two were really cute. He was such a protector of her, being soft and patient with her as they got to know each other mostly digitally while she was working on her confronting her agoraphobia and towards her goal of getting to her graduation. She was so brave and hard working, and wanting to move her life forward after her horrible experiences and how she coped with those.
I received a copy of this book for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
Get the Kleenex for this one! This is a major emotional rollercoaster that is worth the ride! Hunter and Angelina are two extremely broken people who have both been to hell and back. They both need to heal and they found the perfect person to do that with. Now they just need to be honest and open with each other. They need to trust themselves and each other enough to heal. This story was extremely layered and so emotional. The characters were raw and had great depth. The writer handled very sensitive subject matter with grace and power. I couldn’t love this story any more than I did. I’m so intrigued with some of the other characters and hope to see them in future books. I really enjoyed this authors fast paced writing style and am already looking forward to reading the next book.
I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.
This was a heavy book. I want expecting such deep topics, and with it diving right into it at the beginning, I wasnt sure how detailed it was going to get. But I'm glad I stuck through it because I got to see Hunter and Lina battle through their issues and become the whole, happy people they were able to find because they found each other.
I can't imagine living through either of their lives. Both are equally horrifying and more than anyone should have to survive from. But the second they met, their lives were destined to get extraordinarily better.
Seeing both Lina and Hunter grow stronger, braver, more determined was amazing. It shows that if you have the right people in your life, anything can be defeated.
I'm glad I got the chance to read this story and see these brave characters overcome their real pasts.
I think this book was amazing... A woman feeling with a real life issue that isn't very common but very real after being attacked like she was... Overcoming her fears and finding love it's amazing...
When Lina was confronting her phobia fate put hunter in her way to save her and their story takes off from that point.
Both of them have demons and both of them are struggling to survive. From candies candy 🍭🍬 to movies nights , these two help each other beyond any one can imagine.
My heart took a beating reading this book. Lina and Hunter have gone through so much in their young lives. They deserve all the happiness and I loved that they found it in each other.
Limitless by Lynn Rush is the first book in her Survivors series. It tells the story of Angelina and Hunter, two broken souls who help put each other back together.
Hunter meets Angelina when they’re in and elevator together, and she faints into his arms. From that moment, he begins to check on her. Slowly they get to know one another. Angelina was involved in a brutal attack which has caused her to suffer from agoraphobia. Hunter and his mother are hiding from Hunter’s dad who is an abusive psychopath. Hunter is dealing with anger issues which are causing him to overreact in dangerous situations. But Angelina and Hunter see the beauty and love in one another. Together, they have a shot at happiness as long as they can survive an evil threat.
This book is very different from what I normally read, but I love this romance that’s steeped in characters who truly care for one another rather that characters who have instalove and instasex and then develop a relationship. Hunter is so sweet and patient with Angelina - he’s a cinnamon roll for sure. Both Hunter and Angelina have secrets that make them reluctant to be in a relationship, but they learn to be a part of the world by supporting one another, and that’s a beautiful thing.
Be advised there are some CWs - check the author’s notes. The characters do suffer from some mental illness, but it’s handled gently, respectfully, and non-judgmentally. Read if you like a sweet, clean love story about survivors helping one another. Read it and let me know what you think - I’d love to discuss!
Limitless started off strong for me, but fell flat by the end. I love the concept of the plot. Our main characters both have secret pasts and trauma they are carrying and living with every day, and through a twist of fate they find each other.
Angelina suffers from severe agoraphobia; she's lived for 3 years alone, never leaving her apartment after an extremely traumatic experience she went through.
Hunter is an ex-UFC fighter, living with his mom but keeps his past to himself and for good reason.
What I liked about this novel. Delving into the world of these characters in which they are struggling with their own traumas. They are similar, yet different. Angelina recognizes her fear and is taking steps to overcome it. Hunter is an incredibly patient and kind man. He recognizes that Angelina has experienced something terrible, but he never pushes her on it and lets her guide their relationship at her own pace. They build trust with one another, and their relationship progresses naturally from friendship to a romantic relationship.
What I didn't like. The novel started off strong, but at about the 45% mark, it started to feel a little repetitive. I would have liked to see more of a variety of experiences for the characters as opposed to a more of a wash/rinse/repeat. I understand that this is part of Angelina's agoraphobia, but it was a little monotonous to read.
I would have liked details regarding Angelina and Hunter's past. Most of the information we know is gleaned from their internal thoughts, but minimal conversation is shared to really give a full explanation of why each of them are the way they are.
I also think the ending had too much crammed into too short of a time frame. A lot happens, and it would have been nice to have had more details fleshed out, rather than a quick culmination with everything ending all neat and tidy.
Overall it was a very sweet love story, about two people coming together and overcoming their trauma and fear. It's worth a read, I just had higher expectations.
